"Being unhealthy, I was not confident that I would get to participate in my son’s greatest moments."

When I started Jenny Craig, I was the heaviest I’d ever been in my life. My wake-up call came during a doctor’s visit when I was informed that I was prediabetic. This news jolted me into action as I thought about my young son. I had him later in life, and my dream has always been to see him graduate from college, get married and have children. If I didn’t change my lifestyle, I was not confident that I would get to participate in my son’s greatest moments. I was successful using Jenny Craig almost 10 years ago, so it was an easy decision to return to the program that had worked so well for me in the past.

“Having a safe space to share some private struggles and victories with my coach was key to my success.”

When I started my new Jenny Craig journey, my motivation was strong despite being older, sedentary and weighing more. I was fully committed to making this journey a great success. My son has healthy eating habits and he became one of my biggest supporters. He observed what I was eating and reminded me to stay on track.

My Jenny Craig coach, Bonita, told me about a new menu plan called Rapid Results, which works with the body’s natural circadian rhythm. I decided to give it a try. My day was divided into two 12-hour periods, with one devoted to nourishing my body with the foods from my menu plan, and the other to rejuvenating by giving my body a chance to rest and renew from eating. On Rapid Results, I noticed that I lost weight faster and I felt an improvement in my moods. My rough afternoons with hunger pangs and cravings went away on the Rapid Results menu.

Having a safe space to share some private struggles and victories with my coach was key to my success.

In my weekly meetings, Bonita offered great solutions to challenges that set me up for victory. I loved the one-on-one consultations with her; they gave me time to discuss the highs and lows of my journey. Having a safe space to share some of the more private struggles and victories was key to my success. For me, weight loss was an emotional journey, and I was more comfortable sharing my story with a coach I could trust, rather than within a larger group session.

I lost 25 lbs. on Jenny Craig and I love that my son says he is so proud of me. My next goal is to keep the weight off. My latest experience with Jenny Craig has shown me that the best way to achieve my goals is to stick with what works and to keep going! Many of my friends and family have noticed the positive changes of my weight loss. I have more energy and I’m less irritable at work since the afternoon cravings have gone away. I walk regularly and I now have the desire to do it more. I’m also exploring yoga and other wellness activities to continue improving my overall health. My son just recently started playing soccer. I now play with him and look forward to running around helping him practice. My best advice to anyone starting a weight loss journey: Take the time to celebrate your small victories. During your journey, cherish every pound and inch lost, and every part of your life that you get back as your energy increases and your health improves. Celebrating these events motivated me and helped bring me to the greatest moment in my weight loss journey: achieving my goal.
