Dear Jenny,
I am a 42 yr. old woman who was overweight as a child and obese my entire adult life. I have never been on a diet and the thought of starting one seemed so overwhelming. I didn't think I had the strength or the willpower to succeed, so I avoided thinking about it and just kept eating.
Because of my size I always felt like an observer in life and not really a participant, not enjoying who I was or what I was doing. I lived in fear of people making fun of me and I was emotionally drained by the constant judgmental stares. The worst part was being embarrassed in public never knowing if I would I fit in the chair at the movies or on the airplane. It was so much easier and safer to just stay home.
On March 1, 2007 tired of being emotionally frustrated and physically tired, I came to the realization that if I continued as I was I would die young. I finally sought help and began my journey to a healthy lifestyle.
With my first visit to the Jenny Craig Centre I found support, encouragement and knowledge. With the assistance of April, my consultant, I was determined to succeed and take full control of my life. The food plan made everything easier for me and took away all the confusing decisions at the grocery store about what I should eat or what I would cook for dinner. There was comfort in the wide variety of choices and great tasting food that let me focus on the other areas of my life that would also need to be changed.
Knowing I would have to start moving, I began walking the dogs one mile everyday. At 354 pounds this alone was quite a workout. After several weeks I had built up enough stamina to make it three miles a day and my belief in myself began to grow. As I began to see results and realize that I had power to make changes I desired greater results. Not being in a position to hire a personal trainer I purchased a workout book which became my daily bible. I built a routine that worked for me and my transformation to being fit really took off. Every week in the gym I would apply new techniques and push myself with fierce determination to go a little longer and a little harder than the day before. I found my energy level increasing and the weight started to fall off.
After 17 months of support from the Jenny Craig plan and the positive uplifting attitude and vast knowledge of the program provided by April, I have lost over 220 pounds* and continue to surpass my goals and expectations going from a size 36 to a size 4!* The Jenny Craig program has changed my life and taught me to how to connect has a whole person, body and mind, in a way that I never thought possible. Your program has given me life skills, nutritional knowledge and added value and years to my life! Now I am physically fit and I feel FANTASTIC!
My days of just observing life are over and I no longer live in fear of dying. Instead I live every day with the excitement of new experiences and adventures that lie before me. The judgmental stares of people have been replaced by the stories of how I have inspired and encouraged them to be healthy and that is so empowering!
The Jenny Craig program will continue to be a part of my life and the food will always be in my freezer, especially the pasta and desserts. Thank you for creating such a comprehensive program where people just like me can take their desire to live and be excited about it!
