Goal! 07/04/2010

Week 30

Hey everybody -

So, last week I told you all that I was only 2.2 lbs. away from a total of 50 pounds lost*. I also decided that 50 was going to be my final goal and that after I reached it, I was prepared to move on to maintenance. So when I stepped onto the scale for my weigh in yesterday, I discovered that I had not only reached my goal... but I had actually surpassed it. I lost 3.4 lbs.* last week, bringing my total weight loss to 51.2 lbs*!! 51.2 lbs. in just 30 weeks*! Wow. To be honest, I'm having a little difficulty comprehending it all: that I've hit my goal, that I'm going to be starting maintenance, that I still have to be on set early tomorrow morning because the rest of my life is not going to stop and wait for me. Yeah, there's a lot going in my head. I guess, now that I've hit my goal, there's definitely one thing I need to discuss. I should give an honest answer to the most common question I've received since starting my Jenny journey.

"What's your biggest motivation to lose this weight?"

Now, when I've answered this question over the past several months, I've usually said something cheeky about the public humiliation that would befall me if I failed. (Granted, that definitely does provide some added incentive…) However, the chief motivation has been that I wanted to prove to myself that I could do it. And to take it a step further, I wanted to prove to all of you out there that you can do it too. I've struggled with weight issues my whole life and I know all too well how difficult it can be to try and lose weight and how easy it is to come up with reasons to not bother to try again. Now, I've proven to myself that I can do it, that all of the excuses I had for not losing the weight were just that. I know that if you want to be a healthier you then you have the ability to do so as well. The key is that you just need to get yourself into a situation that is going to work for you. I found that situation by joining Jenny Craig. I found a plan that I could stick to and a consultant that gave me much needed guidance and support and I am so grateful for it. Thank you Jenny Craig (and Michele), for everything. And thanks to all of you who have followed me on this journey, who have posted on my forum page or have sent me messages on twitter. I hope I have inspired you as much as you have inspired me. For those of you who are just starting out or are thinking about joining, I hope that my success will be the spark that starts you forward on your journey.

So what is my plan moving forward? Well, you're not done with me yet. I plan to be a part of the Jenny Craig family for a long time. I'll be blogging as I move into maintenance and I still have some toning and shaping that I'd like to do... oh yeah, and there's also that half marathon. As a result, I'll probably continue on this whole working out kick that I've been on. I also need to get my butt into gear and start planning my wedding. We've been engaged for almost a year now and we still haven't figured out where or when the actual event is going to be. Now, the great thing is that no matter how we decide to do it - whether it's a destination wedding on the Mexican Riviera, a large ceremony in California's wine country, or even an elopement in Iceland (just kidding Mom & Dad), I know that I'm going to look how I want in my wedding dress. And that's something that I never thought I'd be able to do: to have the freedom to walk into a wedding dress shop, pick any gown and just zip it up. Is it weird to buy a wedding dress and just wear it around your house? It is, right? OK. not gonna do that, but oh what a difference thirty weeks can make.

xo,

Sara
