There was no denying it. I was huge. My weight was out of control and I knew I should do something about it. My doctor was after me as the weight was affecting my health. I had high blood pressure, was on the verge of diabetes and had other health issues developing that were related to my excess weight. People made comments some more diplomatic than others. My buddies were brutal in theirs but my 13 year old daughter kindly suggested that I try out for one of the television shows where people lost weight through extreme exercise and diet.
As all this was in the back of my mind, two things occurred that made me take action. First I ran into an old friend that I had not seen in a while. He looked great having lost a lot of weight and I asked him how he had done it. He told me Jenny Craig. Soon after that my wife and I were making future plans for a family trip to a theme park. My wife told me she was concerned about whether or not I would be able to keep up with her and our two girls during the trip. This concerned me as well as I was at my highest weight ever and broke into a sweat just walking across a room.
I decided to find out more about Jenny Craig. I didn’t make an appointment; I just stopped by. I was welcomed by the staff and told how the program worked. It seemed like a good fit with prepared meals and flexibility to do what I wanted to do. I decided to give it a try. At first I didn’t tell many people that I joined Jenny Craig, not knowing how it would work. Week after week as I met with my Jenny consultant the weight started coming off and I realized that I was learning for the first time how to eat. I gave up junk foods and limited alcoholic beverages. I learned to control my portions and how to fill up on vegetables and fruits to keep my hunger under control. I found it was also important to space out my meals and snacks so my body was fueled during the day. I felt so good making these healthy changes that I decided to go cold turkey to stop smoking. My consultant was there every step of the way to give support, encouragement, weight loss tips and strategies. My friend who also did Jenny would call me to cheer me on and check on my progress. We supported each other which greatly helped our success.
About 3-4 weeks after starting Jenny, I started thinking about exercise. My consultant said I should start with 20 minutes and work up from there. I went into a local gym and was offered a free month. I started working out on the treadmill and the elliptical trainer. The first time I could barely do five minutes without getting completely winded and stopping. I kept at it as my endurance increased and now I am able to do an hour 6 days a week.
I lost 100* lbs. on Jenny Craig. The changes I made during my weight loss were a major overhaul both physically and mentally. The Jenny Craig Program has given me the motivation, strength, and discipline to make smart choices not only with my food selection, but with my health and everyday life. I enjoy the compliments I receive and also the surprised looks on the faces of people who have not seen me in a while. The best one of all was the look on my doctor’s face when I went in for my last checkup. My blood pressure is under control and my health risks for other obesity related diseases have been reduced. I enjoy the many benefits of my weight loss and healthy lifestyle for myself and my family. We recently took our family trip on which we walked for hours a day as we enjoyed the park together. We have so many wonderful memories of our vacation that would not have been there if I had not lost the weight. I realized that I had to do this for myself and make my health a priority so I would be around to enjoy my family for many years to come. I want to inspire others to lose weight and feel it is important to find a program that works best for them. Jenny worked for me and I firmly believe that it is a program that will work for everyone.
