I was going to die, much sooner than later ...
Having struggled with being overweight most of my adult life, things took a decided turn for the worse. My blood tests revealed that I was a type 2 diabetic. My glucose number was 291, my A1HC reading was over 14, my total cholesterol was 237, my good cholesterol was low, and my bad cholesterol was horribly high, as were my triglycerides. I was in trouble.
My doctor had warned me for years that the extra weight I was carrying would become a real burden as I got older and less active. He was right. Despite medications for high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes, including daily insulin injections, my weight continued to balloon up to 306 lbs. For me, that was the final wakeup call.
Three weeks later, I contacted Jenny Craig, and two days after that, officially started my weight loss plan. What has happened to me since joining Jenny Craig is nothing less than a miracle. Through discipline, a great weight loss plan, enthusiastic staff (especially my Jenny consultant), and many hours on my exercise bike, I lost 80 lbs.* I feel like I'm 25 again! My transformation is more than great lab results—I feel spectacular and have more energy than I've had in years. My blood sugar is back to normal and I have been off all my diabetes medications for well over a year. My cholesterol and hypertension are now under control and I take no medications at all except for a baby aspirin. My doctor told me I basically saved my life. Hearing this was one of the high points of my life.
I was proud to walk with Team Jenny at the Puget Sound Heart Walk. I can't thank Jenny Craig enough for giving me my life back and teaching me a new, healthy lifestyle that I can use for the rest of my life.
