Reward Yourself with Non-food Rewards
If you feel cared for, you will be less likely to feel the need to reward yourself with food when you are in an emotional situation.Keeping your focus on non-food rewards may help you resist the temptation to overeat during those trigger times by allowing you to think about a positive outcome.
Give yourself credit for every pound and inch lost. Congratulate yourself for healthy eating -- eating breakfast when you usually skip, enjoying a salad at lunch instead of fries, etc. Think about all the intangible benefits, beyond how you look. Do you feel stronger or more confident? Has your health improved? Do your clothes fit better? Take note of these in your journal. Over time, see how many of these small victories add up to the big payoff. Celebrate those victories every day, whether it is a losing a pound or passing on a dessert!
