Your pantry may look a little bare after cleaning out the junk food, but keeping your kitchen filled with nutritious pantry items will keep you from abandoning your goals. Replenish your pantry and keep it stocked with items that will aid your weight loss program and keep you on track. Here are four go-to pantry items for weight loss success.

Water is essential to weight loss success, but you may be finding it difficult to give up the flavor of your favorite regular soda. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, replacing one 20-ounce regular soda with water will save around 240 calories. To make water more appealing, keep lemons in the kitchen to slice up and add to your water. You might just end up drinking more water and staying hydrated with the refreshing hint of lemon!

It’s good to have plain, unsalted nuts like almonds on hand. They’re a great snack in a pinch; it’s easy to grab a handful of almonds from the pantry. For an added crunch, you can also add almonds to your salads. Make sure you stay around 6 almonds per serving if adding to a meal, or 12 as a snack on their own.

Various herbs and spices
Keep your pantry well stocked with various herbs. Not only will it make your healthy foods delicious, but many herbs are packed with weight loss benefits. For example, the capsaicin in chili powder or paprika may actually help boost your metabolism. If you’re trying to control your salt intake, replace the salt grinder with spices like rosemary or tarragon. These two herbs make chicken even more delicious.

Olive oil
Olive oil’s antioxidants and healthy monounsaturated fat content will help curb your appetite. This vitamin-filled oil may even help lower your risk for heart disease. Olive oil makes a good dressing alternative if you’re out to eat or out of Jenny Craig Balsamic or Ranch Salad Dressing; a quick drizzle of olive oil (around 1 tsp) is ideal.
