Fitness Is Fun!

Remember being a kid and spending summer days in the pool? Or those winter afternoons sledding down hills? You probably never said, “Oh darn. I have to go sledding now.” But, you’ve probably felt that way about exercise.

Guess what? Swimming, sledding and so many childhood pleasures were ‘exercise’, and they were fun! Reframe your thinking. You do not have to exercise -- just play!

Think about what activities gave you so much pleasure in the past:

  • Dancing
  • Hiking
  • Biking
  • Water/Snow Skiing
  • Playing Catch
  • Roller/Inline skating
  • Climbing a Jungle Gym
  • Sledding
  • Sailing

Consider enjoying those activities again. Pick one to try this week.

Include Family & Friends

No need to feel guilty about time spent away from your loved ones. Get moving with them! Another advantage of playful activity is that it allows you to spend quality time with others while supporting your weight loss goals. Now may be the perfect time to dust off your tennis racket, softball bat or Frisbee.

Besides enjoying yourself and possibly spending time with others, playful activity is also a great way to refresh your workout routine. Who doesn’t want to have fun, feel better and help reach their weight loss goals all at the same time? Sounds like a win-win-win!
