Clients following the Jenny Craig At Home or In Center program with the support of a consultant, on average, lose 1-2 lbs per week.   • Your optimal calorie level is based on your age, height, current weight, gender and your activity level. Our lowest calorie level is 1200 calories per day, based on the latest NIH guidelines.

  • When should I weigh in?
  • For a long time, we recommended that our clients weigh themselves weekly. However, new research is showing us that to get the best weight loss results, weighing every day might be better. People who monitor their weight regularly are able to make small adjustments in their behaviors to keep the scale moving down. Don’t despair if a single weight seems higher than expected – fluctuations are normal. And, don’t let the number get in the way of your progress. Use it to help you manage your choices.

  • We have pre-planned menus that include 7-days of Jenny's Cuisine® combined with your own food. Many clients prefer to order their food in four-week increments (plus the cost of shipping).

  • The Jenny Craig Program is available to adolescents 13-17 years old, who obtain their parent's written permission, and who do not have health conditions except asthma or seasonal allergies and/or taking medications. The program includes weekly one-on-one consultations, weekly menus and program materials. Jenny Online is not available for teens.

  • Can I do the program if I'm breastfeeding?
  • Nursing mothers need to follow a modified calorie level based on the child's age and frequency of breastfeeding. All breastfeeding mothers will need to wait until their baby is 6 weeks old to enroll in a membership program in a Jenny Craig Center or Jenny Craig At Home; milk supply is being established and weight loss is not recommended during this time. A Jenny Craig consultant in center or through Jenny Craig At Home can work with you to establish the appropriate calorie levels. Nursing mothers are not eligible to enroll in our online program.

  • Should I avoid carbohydrates?
  • No. While advertising and the media have focused a lot of attention on low-carb diets and products, when it comes to successful, long-term weight loss, calories are the key, not carbs. By focusing on calories, you don't need to avoid entire food groups, buy special low-carb products or give up the foods you love.

  • But won't I lose more weight faster with a low-carb diet?
  • Recent research has disproved the claim that weight loss is faster and greater on a low-carb diet. One clinical trial showed that while subjects lost weight faster initially on a low-carb diet, the amount of weight loss after one year was similar to the group that followed the traditional low-fat approach to weight loss.* Restrictive diets, such as low-carb diets, can be difficult to follow for very long.   • Can I have caffeinated beverages on the program?
  • Yes. If you are a heavy coffee, soda or tea drinker, you may want to consider cutting back – especially if it interferes with your milk or water intake. If you choose to decrease your caffeine intake, do so gradually – cutting your intake in half each week, to avoid potential caffeine-withdrawal symptoms.

  • How much exercise will I need to do on Jenny Craig?
  • Jenny Craig's exercise component was developed in consultation with the world-renowned Cooper Institute and encourages clients to gradually increase activity through a combination of natural, planned and playful physical activities*. Our online tools help you plan and monitor activity, and we offer numerous resources to support your goals to increase your activity level. For All Access and As You Go members, your Jenny Craig consultant will work with you to develop a personalized, staged approach that starts where you are right now and builds from there.

    In research conducted by the National Weight Control Registry of 4500 individuals who have lost at least 30 pounds and kept it off for one year, it was found that such individuals, on average, are physically active for 60 minutes a day. The good news is, the "exercise" is a combination of walking, resistance, and "natural" activity. The bottom line: it's not a strenuous exercise regimen, but an active lifestyle that makes the difference between maintainers and weight re-gainers.

  • What types of exercise will I do on Jenny Craig?
  • On Jenny Craig, you'll gradually increase your activity through a combination of natural, planned and playful physical activities, learning how to incorporate more activity into your everyday routine.

    Natural activities include everyday tasks such as gardening or light cleaning – even shopping! You'll learn to identify opportunities for activity that you might not be aware of, like walking around during your child's baseball game or pacing while talking on the phone.

    Planned activities make sure your exercise regimen is well-rounded, incorporating cardio, resistance, and stretching. Examples include weightlifting, walking, yoga, kickboxing or aerobic dance.

    Playful activities give you permission to take the time to be active without taking quality time away from family and friends. Instead of going to a movie with friends, try dancing, bicycling, or joining your kids for tag or basketball.

We encourage all our members to develop or continue an active lifestyle which includes some physical activity that will be different for each individual. Keep in mind it's not a strenuous exercise regimen, but an active lifestyle that makes the difference between maintainers and weight re-gainers!
