Jenny Craig Ambassador Valerie Bertinelli Shares Her Healthy Living Tips at O You!

Bertinelli explains the importance of heart health and how others can make a difference in their own lives

Carlsbad, Calif. (October 23, 2012) — Jenny Craig Brand Ambassador Valerie Bertinelli took the stage Saturday during O You!, O, The Oprah Magazine’s annual lifestyle and wellness event to discuss the importance of being heart-healthy and maintaining an active lifestyle. During the event held at the Los Angeles Convention Center, Bertinelli shared her personal story of how she lost weight on Jenny Craig and ultimately, improved her overall health.

Bertinelli also signed copies of her new cookbook One Dish at a Time, a collection of her most beloved family recipes, which includes tips on how to enjoy food without overindulging. She also shares some of her favorite Jenny recipes and discusses incorporating fresh fruits and vegetables into her meals, a principle she learned while on the program. Exclusive to Jenny Craig, the Volumetrics® Approach teaches consumers techniques to feel full on fewer calories.

“I’m thrilled to be here today to reveal my personal connection to heart health and empower others to make a positive change in their own lives,” said Bertinelli. “We can each live our best life by making simple changes to lower our risk for weight-related diseases.”

The “Hot in Cleveland” star recognizes the importance of being in good heart health. Bertinelli’s mother, Nancy, lost 54 pounds* on Jenny Craig after witnessing her daughter’s success on the program. In October 2008, Bertinelli’s mother required emergency heart valve replacement surgery. After the surgery, the cardiologist told Bertinelli that her mother’s surgery success was due, in part, to her weight loss.

Bertinelli was joined by real Jenny Craig clients Amanda White and Sloane Maymon who have both lost weight on the program. Maymon, who has lost more than 60 pounds*, credits her new-found energy and healthy relationship with food to the holistic approach that Jenny offers, while White has lost an astounding 166 pounds* (half of her original body weight) and is now a fitness instructor who inspires others on their own weight loss journey.

Jenny Craig, a proud national sponsor of the American Heart Association’s Heart Walks, hosted a booth at the event where attendees met with Bertinelli, received BMI and waist circumference checks by Jenny consultants and enjoyed some of Jenny Craig’s most popular snacks.
*Jenny Craig clients, on average, lose 1-2 pounds per week.
