TV Personality Ross Mathews Joins Jenny Craig as Newest Celebrity Spokesperson After Being Inspired by Friend Sara Rue's Success
CARLSBAD, CA; MARCH 15, 2011 — Ross Mathews, a television personality featured regularly on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and E!’s Chelsea Lately, has joined the Jenny Craig Program as a new celebrity spokesperson after seeing the transformation of his friend, Sara Rue, who lost 50 pounds* on the program after becoming a Jenny Craig spokesperson. Mathews, who got his start as “Ross the Intern” on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, has already lost 25 pounds in 12 weeks* on Jenny Craig, with a goal to lose a total of 40 pounds.
“I think the most amazing part about Jenny Craig — and why it works — is the access you get to a personal consultant who tailors the program for you. They’re like your Food Fairy Godmothers! Sure, the food is great and yummy and handy, but it’s all about the guidance your consultant provides you. I am so, so excited to finally feel like I’m in control of my weight again. This is a major lifestyle change and I am beyond thrilled that I have lost 25 lbs so far! I’m almost there,” said Mathews.
Mathews, a self-proclaimed yo-yo dieter, said he was inspired to join the Jenny Craig Program after seeing close friend and Jenny Craig celebrity spokesperson Sara Rue lose 50 pounds* through learning healthy eating habits and regular activity with the support of her consultant Michele. “I saw Sara change her attitude toward food and exercise and I had to get in on that action,” said Mathews. “I’m really learning through Jenny Craig that I can have a healthy relationship with food, even when I’m dining out or traveling, which I do a lot.”
Rue, who is the host of CW’s Shedding for the Wedding, serves as an inspiration to Ross to stay motivated and committed to a healthier lifestyle. “When I first started losing weight on the Jenny Craig Program, people would tell me they could see me change right before their eyes. Now, I see Ross going through the same transformation and it is incredible,” said Rue. “I see him taking these steps toward becoming happier and healthier, and it makes me want to keep serving as a positive role model for him and others.”
Already 25 pounds down,* Mathews is receiving compliments about his slimmer appearance. “While I was covering the Oscars, celebrities left and right told me how great I looked, and then I gushed about my Jenny Craig Consultant Michele,” laughed Mathews. “I’ve dreamed of having balance in my life, and I really felt out of balance with this weight gain hanging over my head. Now, I really feel like I have a handle on this beast, and no longer am I afraid to lose weight and be a happier me, thanks to Jenny Craig.”
Mathews will serve as a spokesperson for Jenny Craig alongside other celebrity spokespeople Carrie Fisher (“Wishful Drinking”), Valerie Bertinelli (“Hot in Cleveland”), Sara Rue (“Shedding for the Wedding”), Nicole Sullivan (“$#*! My Dad Says”) and Jason Alexander (“Curb Your Enthusiasm”).
*Clients following the Jenny Craig program, on average, lose 1-2 pounds per week.
