Jenny Craig Announces an Agreement with BodyMedia, Inc.
Leading Weight Loss Company Incorporates Latest Technology To Signature Program
Carlsbad, Calif. (December 27, 2010) — Jenny Craig, Inc, one of the nation's leading authorities on weight management, announced today that its new Metabolic Max Program incorporates the technology of BodyMedia Inc., who produces the BodyMedia FIT™ Armband and BodyMedia FIT™ Activity Manager. The Armband tracks daily calorie burn and the Activity Manager’s online tool allows Jenny Craig clients to log calories online and via smartphones.
As part of Jenny Craig’s newest program innovation, the Metabolic Max Program will change the way clients lose weight. Using the data provided by BodyMediaFIT™, Jenny Craig consultants can further tailor and enhance clients’ weight loss programs to clients’ personal needs and maximize their weight loss efforts.
“Integrating this technology from BodyMedia Inc., allows us to offer an even more personalized approach to weight loss to consumers,” said Patti Larchet, CEO of Jenny Craig, Inc. “Jenny Craig is thrilled to add the latest technology to its clinically proven program to offer clients a truly unique program that is personally tailored to their individual metabolisms.”
Clients who join the Metabolic Max Program are given the BodyMediaFIT™ device that is to be worn on the upper area of the left arm. This device measures the galvanic skin response (the electric conductivity of sweat), skin temperature, heat flux, motion and steps to determine how many calories clients burn at any given time they are wearing the device. This data is then uploaded to an online database that allows clients to review their activity, as well as enter their Jenny Craig planned menus. With this online database, clients can more accurately self-monitor their weight loss behaviors, and work with their consultant to modify their lifestyle to achieve their weight loss goals.
“We are thrilled to offer our clients a one-of a kind approach to weight loss that is as unique as they are,” said Larchet.
