Jenny Craig Makes Calories Count! Food Products Offer Flavor, Diversity, Nutrition

LA JOLLA, CALIF., January 2, 2001 - If you're going to count calories, you'd better make them count!

That's the philosophy behind the 70+ food products offered by Jenny Craig, Inc., one of the largest weight management companies in the world.

As a reflection of its adherence to the USDA Food Guide Pyramid and Dietary Guidelines for Americans, Jenny Craig food products include a full line of breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack selections.

Fearful of flavorless food?

According to Talamini, the latest survey shows that clients report outstanding satisfaction with both variety and taste. Among the favorites: French Toast with Berries, Silver Dollar Pancakes, Pan Pizza, Paste Olé, Chicken Fettuccine, Beef Sirloin Bowl, Double Chocolate Cake and Raspberry Swirl Cheesecake.

All Jenny Craig food items are prepackaged, pre-portioned, available in frozen or shelf-stable formats and are manufactured to the specifications of staff registered dietitians.

Menus that include Jenny Craig entrees and snacks reflect the USDA Food Guide Pyramid and Dietary Guidelines for Americans, with emphasis on whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, lean meats and low-fat dairy products. Each day provides approximately 50 percent to 60 percent carbohydrate, 20 percent protein and 20 percent to 30 percent fat calorie distribution. Clients may choose among several different menu options to accommodate individual tastes and budgets.

Too busy to fuss with cooking?

Jenny Craig food items fit into today's busy lifestyles and can be easily prepared in either a microwave or traditional oven. Available exclusively at Jenny Craig Centres, the average cost of Jenny's Cuisine is $10 to $12 per day.

Initially, clients follow seven days of menus that include Jenny Craig food items. When the halfway desired weight goal is reached, clients transition to five to six days of Jenny Craig Menus, and one to two days of menus using all their own foods. Jenny Craig's Dining Out Guide also assists clients in making smart food choices when eating out in restaurants and fast-food establishments. Once clients reach their desired weight, they transition to seven days of self-planned menus.
