I started JC at the end of September & I am down 13 lbs & have lost 15 1/2 inches.(6 week weigh in) The problem is that I am still not happy. My last 2 weigh ins I have only lost 2lbs then 1.4lbs. Does anyone know why some people will lose 3-5 lbs in 1 week & others only 1lb a week? I am on a 1200 calorie diet & religiously get my 10,000 steps a day or more. Any input would be great :)

Wow! I know you aren't feelin' it but I gotta say you are doing AWESOME!!! biggrin.gif

The old cliche holds true.....every 'body' is different. We are all wired differently. Some people can eat junk food and sodas everyday and maintain a perfect weight. The rest of us blow up to the size of a house. The same holds true in weight loss. Some people loose weight very quickly, while others chug along at a slower pace doing the exact same program. Have you seen those funny (yet oh so true) commercials for slimquik? The woman stops drinking sodas and loses a few pounds. Her husband stops drinking them and loses 10x more weight than her.

I'm not sure how much weight you have to lose, and how much you started at. Those with more weight to loose tend to drop bigger chunks in the early stages. Just look at my stats below.....I was doing awesome for quite a while, but lately I have been playing around with the same 5 pounds for a couple of months. But I refuse to give up. If I can just lose a pound a week, I could be down another 13 pounds by the time my year on JC anniversary comes around on Valentine's Day.

So don't get down. You really are doing great!!!

first off a big congratulations to you!!!!! be eralistic, a healthy weight loss should only be 1-2 lbs per week or 1% of your body weight. slow and steady = a higher probability of long term success. you are losing body fat as oppossed to lean muscle mass which would hurt you in the long run. take your focus off the number and think of all the positive behavior changes that are happening. these are what will make you a successful weight manager and not just another yo yo dieter smile.gif so again congratulations you are doing awesome!!!!

11 weeks and 11 lbs. is slow.... that is me, and as much as i wish for bigger loss ya know what, I trust the process and a Loss is better than a gain or maintaining, It took me 3 years to put the weight on and it's not going to come off overnight, so I just have to be patient, and know I am doing everything I can for a Healthier me, and besides, even when the scale doesn't show a number I like, the inches and my body changes do! someone just told me they notice I have a Waiste!, my belts i could wear now went from 1 hole to 3 holes.

so my only advice if you get discourage and let it beat you down that your not getting Big numbers you will set yourself up for failure. RElish in the Victory and reward yourself with such a great achievement.

although I have on been on JC for 11 weeks, I started my Journey this past Jan doing ww for 8 months, so accumulative with now JC help, I have lost 25 lbs. so I am going out tonight to reward myself with a new Scarf!!

Keep up the GREAT work!! your doing fantastic.

Thanx everyone for their kind words, it really helps to know that alot of people are behind you & wish you great success. I know I should take any kind of weight loss as a bonus & reap the rewards because I know that even though the scale doesn't always show it the inches are still coming down :) So thanx again for the encouragement!!

Just had to chime in on this one ... I've lost 20 lbs in 10 months!!! Not exactly setting any speed records here but this is the refrain I keep hearing: the slower it comes off the more likely it is to stay off. Every single "success story" published by JC has *results not typical. The reason is there are no TYPICAL results. Everyone is different and their results will be different. The pattern for most is to lose a lot in the early part of the program (the first few weeks) and then to level off to about 1-2 lbs a week. I, however, am a "fractional" loser ... it's always 0.something for me. BTW, 10,000 steps is good, but unless you're getting your heart rate up and sustaining it for 15-20 minutes, you're cheating yourself out of some serious fat burning. Add some cardio to your activity and you should see it on the scale in due time. Hang in there! You are doing GREAT!!! Keep it up!!!

I too just want to add a little something to this thread smile.gif

First off you are doing WONDERFUL!!! I could only hope that I am down that much by my 6th week.

As everyone said above everyone is different - and the weight doesnt get put on over night - so its not going to be a short battle to lose it either.

I dont know how much you are wanting to lose - but I am finding that little goals are really helping me... 2 weeks ago when I weighed myself in the morning I was about 216lbs... when I started the process I had in my head 'man it would be great to see 209 in the morning' *knowing full well it was a distored weight but none the less the mind has a funny way tongue.gif ANYWAYS this morning when I woke up the scale read 209 - I did a little happy dance... I havent seen that number on the scale for over 8 month!!! My next goal is to see 209 on the scale after a dinner smile.gif

So my point - set little goals... and when you reach them do a happy dance - even if no one is around smile.gif The big goals will eventually follow - but in the meantime you would have had so many celebrations and feel so 'accomplished' smile.gif

What struck me about this post was the statement "I am still not happy." Well, quite honestly, no one can change that except you. Regardless of the facts, you get to chose your response. I know many people who are outwardly perfect... great weight, great shape, pretty, fit... who are completely miserable with themselves, their appearance, their lives. You've heard from many people here who have "worse" circumstances than yours in terms of pounds per week. However, they CHOSE to be happy about it and CHOSE to keep moving forward. You may not be happy even at your goal weight. Happiness is a choice.

You have much to be happy about. The rest is up to you biggrin.gif.

Lesterlou, I never meant I was an unhappy person, I was, I guess you could say, discouraged with the results of my last 2 weigh-ins cuz my first 4 resulted in a weight loss of over 2 pounds each time! After reading all the replies that people have posted I do feel better about it & realise that the slower it comes off the better & that every week is different, as well as every person. Thanx again everyone for their encouragement & replies, the response was great & again I do feel better & have a more realistic outlook smile.gif
