I will go in for my 2nd weigh in today. I have remained the same weight for 3 days and I lost 1 lb today. I feel I'm retaining water I have bags under my eye, which usually tells me I'm retaining. So far on my scale I've lost 7.5 lbs and my clothes fit better, not as tight. So I know that's good, I'm thinking of buys a JC scale to see the water & fat loss. Maybe that will make me feel better, if the scale is not moving, but ,my fat loss is going down. We'll see!

You are losing so don't be down on yourself. I didn't know their scales tell you that... I want one! Then you know when you are burning fat...Keep moving forward and remember we are doing this a good way, taking our time and learning how to make healthy choices for our futures.

Yes I know I shouldn't focus on water weight gain, but it's hard to see the numbers go up. I bought the scale and it tell you your body fat and your body water content. You can't tell after only weigh ins but I expect after a week of weighing myself on a daily basis I'll notice a loss in fat, I hope. But I do notice my clothes fit better and that's worth all this!!

Pay especially close attention to the instructions about when and how to weigh, and since you are a woman, make sure that body fat and water percentages are analyzed over time, not day-to-day or week-to-week. The scale will give women trends that are more subject to the ups and downs of time of day and TOM. The results should be recorded daily or weekly (your preference, but weekly is better for weight, daily better for fat %) compared no more than once per month. There will be ups and downs throughout the month. That's just the way it is for women.

Try not to take any scale too seriously. Pay more attention to eating style, mindset and activity, so you can really adopt the lifestyle change. If you do that, no matter what, the scale has to follow eventually.

Also know that as you lose weight, your ratios may stay the same, but you ARE losing fat.

For example:

Weight 170
Fat 25% = 42.5 lbs of fat

Weight 160
Fat 25% = 40 lbs of fat

Same fat ratio, but 2.5 pounds of fat lost.

Hopefully you'll also be seeing the ratio go down, but it's ok if it doesn't sometimes. Just to keep things in perspective, in the past three weeks I've lost 0.5 pounds on the scale. But I lost TWO INCHES from my waistline (and more in other areas). The scale is the least accurate measurement of success. Even more than knowing the inches are going down, I'm most proud of the BEHAVIORS that I did in order to make it happen. I agree with Helen... focus on the lifestyle and let the rest come.
