Yes, Yes, Yes, I know exactly where you are coming from. I've had the cortizone shots and they helped for a couple years. Now I'm to the place where the doctor says I need Knee replacement. I'm afraid to have surgery until I lose some weight, so here I am. I have a lot of bone spurs on my knees, so I keep getting tendons caught on the spurs. Man that hurts! Anyway, I'm using my Wii system as much as I can, but even that hurts my knees. I have a recombent bike that I used to be able to ride, but now I'm even having trouble with that. I can't straighten my left knee all the way and I can't bend it past a 45 degree angle, so it's definitely a problem I have to deal with. I know the extra weight adds to the problem, so I'm working on that as best I can. I have lost 20 lbs. and have seen some improvement in walking, but I have a long way to go. Thank you for starting this topic cause it's nice to know there are others out there with the same problem. If you have any exercise ideas, let me know. I'll take any help I can get. Oh I just thought, the resistance ropes may be something you can try cause you can do some of it sitting down. Hope this helps.

you can lose weight at slower rate with no activity. are you looking for activity you can do that won't aggrivate knees? how about bike stationary or recumbant bike? also Jillian michaels from biggest loser says the best way to get heart rate up and burn calories when you have lower body injury is boxing punches, just do a slight squat, and punch out, punch up.... I do her new dvd and she has alot of great moves in it like this. Also Water aerobics or Pool near you for activity??

My mother has horrible arthritis in her knees. She lost 125 pounds on JC a few years ago without being able to exercise at all. She stayed on 1500 the entire time and the weight loss was steady. She had her ups and downs like everyone - losing real well one week, losing nothing some weeks and even gaining here or there. But it did come off and she could walk so much better at the end. Taking the weight off definitely helps the arthritis but certainly doesn't cure it. And if you can exercise even some then it is great. Do exercises that don't involve your legs. You can still exercise your upper body from a chair. What about swimming? My mom has put some of it back on and wants to take it off before getting her knees replaced. She's going to have both at the same time.

Good luck ladies!
