Welcome Sarah! Sounds ike you are doing great!!!!
alihanna
Sarah welcome! You will meet some neat people here who will give you great support! You will see the word 'Weenies" describing this group. Short for Halloween and as Mikijo pointed out "we are ALL getting weenier for sure!" which is our goal. Though, I for one, hope to keep at least some of my curves when I shrink to be a weenie. Oh brother....you get the idea. laugh.gif

Everyone - your postings are inspirations! They are so fun to read and I thank you for sharing your experiences. They give me warm fuzzies!

Zexxii - Fantastic for you! My happy feet are mingling with your dancing feet because I have joined you in ONEderland!!!!!! Didn't think it would happen this week because my movement level (like how I say "movement" instead of "work out"?) was way down from previous weeks. I stayed on plan though and lost 1.8 pounds. Amazing how that works!

My wish for all of you for the upcoming Thanksgiving week and the weeks following is that your walks be filled with wonder filled moments.

Everyone have a fantastic weekend!

XM - I would love to start a challenge! Would we do the number of steps? The amount of weight loss? The number of posts to this forum? (just making sure everyone is awake.) I would need help to set a reasonable weight goal within a reasonable amount of time. I don't want to set myself up for failure and that is why I am reluctant to set a challenge. I need guidance on this. Thanks!

Hello October gang!

I had my WI today and lost 2.2 lbs for a total of 16lbs. A bit slow for six weeks but feeling much better. 24 lbs to go and I will get there!

The key for me has been writing everything down and keeping track of the calories. Thanksgiving will be challenging but I will get up and get on the treadmill..I am not cooking!

Welcome to anyone new and keep checking in for motivation and help!
Sonya-from-Ohio
Hi Ann.
I just finished week two and am at 16.6-- so I am right there with you. I have struggled over the past 10 days or so with saying on track but have been doing better with getting exercise. THis week wlll be the real challenge. We have 5 out of town guests coming in for a week and so I have been baking and gettng ready for the holiday.Arrrgh. Anyone else getting worried about Thanksgiving?

Hi everyone,

I am a Halloweenie! I just joined on October 22, 2009. I would love to be part of this group. I've only lost 10
.4lbs, but that's 10lbs healthier than what I was.
tongue.gif My first week I lost 3.2, My second week I lost 3.2, My third week was 2.2, and my fourth week was 1.8. What can I do to increase these numbers? I feel better, but I want to start seeing the results! Thanks!

Losing 1% - 2% of ones current weight is ideal. So if one weighs in the 200's then 2.? pounds is great. Anymore than that and people start losing muscle mass. Then the metabolism goes down and the viscious cycle we are trying to break out of starts all over again. Not only that but rapid large weight loss also results in loose saggy skin. AND with rapid large weight loss the more likely one is to gain the weight back when they are on their own. I have also read that individuals who expect rapid unrealistic weight loss goals do not succeed in staying on a food plan because they get discouraged at how long it is taking to lose the weight. Nor do they maintain their ideal weight when they are done. This is the "Mind" aspect that your JCC can help you heal. Do I want my weight to come off faster? You betcha. But I won't risk my long term goal of permanent weight loss to achieve it.

A lot of individuals are unhappy with weight loss amounts that are within their 1-2% current weight range. Be happy knowing that that 1-2% is more than likely gone...permanently. Ease up on yourselves and enjoy the journey. Celebrate that you have started that journey. Savor each increment of weight loss and celebrate the baggy pants. I'm happy that I can get my smaller size jeans up over the hips. Can't get them zipped up (even when laying down) but that's the next step.

Everyone have a fantastic Thanksgiving week.

Jenks
Hi Halloweenies,
Had my 4th WI on Thursday and a loss of 3.4lbs.
This week: Proud of myself for avoiding the concession stand at the movie theater. Also, skipping the buffet at my holiday party by making sure to eat before I went. Going to skip on the big family dinner on Thursday, and just go for dessert (taking my cheesecake with me). WI on Friday this week.
Have a Great Thanksgiving my fellow JC Peeps!

Hi all!
I read this really great ebook on freefromfat.org and I'm finally ready to get back on track and I want to do more in the way of joining support systems like discussions and all. I think if I start to comment instead of just reading, I may feel more motivated to keep track more regularly. I'm jazzed! I have lost 47 pounds so far and I'm now ready to lose 47 more!

Alyssa and Cuddles - Thank you for letting me know your appreciation. Writing it also helped me.
Have a most excellent week.

How are all you Weenies doing out there?
Had my WI this morning and was very pleasantly surprised. I lost 2 pounds. Last week was a difficult week for some reason. This will help me keep on track over the holiday. I know I can do this. Reading this board has been very inspiring.
I know we all want this weight to just disapear overnight but honestly we didn't gain it overnight. So I agree with the motto 1 pound at a time.

QUOTE(alihanna @ Nov 19 2009, 05:53 PM) *
Hogan - the weight from the scale today will not be the weight on the scale on Sunday - 4 days away. You are doing GREAT averaging 2.2 lbs a week. Weight loss fluctuates and is not consistent. You already know all that.

I'm with you! Craving Mexican food, omg YES! I bought an extra fajita and cheese enchilada dinner because I knew I would want Mexican. I doctor it up with with some pico de gallo, a bit of green chilis or jalapeno, and shredded lettuce. I doesn't replace my desire for corn tortillas deep fried in fat but it does cut the craving pains. And I remind myself the fat the tortillas bathe in just add to the dimples on my cheeks; the ones connected to my dimpled thighs. THAT's a vision that cures most of my unnecessary food wants!

So which came first - the awful mood, seeing the weight on the scale or the craving? If it was seeing the weight on the scale (throw the scale out) that put you in a mood (you are allowed one of those) and then you went into the craving (they happen, ugly, but they happen) ... what do YOU think YOU are telling yourself?

To help with the mood you need to move. Not necessarily work out but just move. Walk the dog (a pretend one if you don't have a dog). Dance - with a broom stick if you need a partner. Just stand in the middle of the floor and "shake it all about". And after you have been the cool fool that only you saw, drink water. Then go shake again and listen to it gurgle in your tummy. Don't shake too much after the water...it might come out of your nose.

Your beautiful! Your strong! And you can get through this, if you already haven't.

Ali-
Thank you so much for your kind words and wonderful advice. I have not been able to get on here due to busy weekend and running everywhere for the kids. Finally, no school this week which makes it a little easier for me since they cancel all the practices for the kids too. I know it's crazy the week I had I was feel pretty low and wanting to throw the towel in but I didn't and stuck to it and went in Sunday and did the weigh in and lost 2.8 pounds. OOOOO WHAT A FEELING and I really needed that feeling. Your message really put a smile on my face today and I need that too, so again thank you!!!!! Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!

Ok! I was reading through the July starters and I was jealous. So! I started a thread for ALL October starters as well! smile.gif (/crossesfingers) I hope there are alot of us! smile.gif

Go go Halloweenies! (hope you don't mind if I call us that) smile.gif

So, my name is Zexxii. Not my real name but I use it on a video game I play. Ok, a video game I've been addicted to for 5 years and is how I got in this mess in the first place. smile.gif

I used to teach group fitness classes. Step, Cycling, and Yoga. However, I am a fast food junkie, and without working out (i stopped teaching and started playing 24X7) you tend to gain weight, especially if you have a tendency to gain weight anyway (like me!). I was down to eating one meal a day, (terrible for the metabolism) and I chose to eat (of course) ANY fast food I wanted, duh, I was only eating once a day. smile.gif Oh, and I would eat ice cream at night for "dinner" not every night mind you, but there are weeks where I would go through about 2 (quarts?) a week. I LOVE cookie dough ice cream.

So! Here I am, and I hope to meet alot of great people struggling with inactivity and bad eating habits just like me! Together, we can do this! I have a long way to go to get back to "me".

Hi, Zexxil.......
I use to eat at 10:00am and again around 4:00pm. This, I thought, would help me loose weight. But because I only ate twice a day, I thought I could have whatever I wanted. This included ice cream in the evenings. A pint per week... but boy would I suffer the next day.
When I started Jenny in October and became a regular consumer of nutritious foods... everything started to change physically. The energy level went up, my ankles stopped swelling, and my skin became soft and normal in look and feel. In the past, I was starving myself by eating all I want of the fastfoods ... and getting no nutrition.
Now I eat vegetables, fruit, and protein along with a bit of fat to keep the brain and skin healthy. It is nice to be "friends" with my body again.
My journey will be longer than most as I have major weight to loose. Changes made so far have resulted in some wonder benefits. And as my friends say....."Garbage in ... Garbage out" and "If you continue to do the same thing you will get the same results." It is easy to make changes..... when the results are improvement on every level.
Zex... Thank you for your words and starting the October Group.
Have a great Holiday....

You know I am beginning to think that Wednesday is the happiest day of the week. There are so many uplifting achievements posted. Whether weight loss, new discoveries or deciding to start the journey they are also so wonderful. I so look forward to reading Wednesday's post. You all are extraordinary!

I thought I would mention some of the things that I am doing now that I haven't done in a long, long while.

1. Trying to shrink my jeans in a warm water wash and drying them in the dryer.

2. Buying needle and thread in different colors and taking in my clothes that won't shrink.

3. Bending over at the waist to tie my shoes. I forgot that I need to continue breathing while doing this task or else the world starts going around when I get upright.

4. Running....and enjoying it. This is something I have never ever done. See what JC has brought me to? smile.gif

5. Touching those 2 boney hip protrusions. Of course, I'm laying down and sucking it in. But HEY at least I can touch them!

Wishing you all a wonderful Thanksgiving Day.

My regular weigh in time is Friday evenings at 5:30. Today I went in at 10:30 in the morning. Post Thanksgiving and I gained .4 pounds. I could list a bunch of excuses but that would be myself refusing to take responsiblity for my week. For everyone's information, and for my own self, here are the reasons for the weight gain -

1. I skipped meals and snacks. I just forgot to eat. When the scale was creeping up mid-week I had to make myself remember to eat.
2. I did not drink as much water as I normally do. My overall fluid intake was way down.
3. I did not reevaluate my activity plan. By the time I got home from work it was dark outside so I did not walk as much as I had been walking.

I am pleased that I am able to evaluate the week and make the corrections necessary before it all gets out of hand.

I did do well with the Thanksgiving dinner. Considering how "fearful" I was going into it I feel like I have tamed the celebratory food monster. There is room for improvement but over all I am pleased. One step at a time, one pound at a time.

I hope everyone had a wonderul Thanksgiving with family and/or friends.

Happy Monday everyone...I'm down another 1lb....not bad since it was Thanksgiving.

Just thought I'd share my Thanksgiving with everyone, we eat dinner early (around 2ish) so I skipped breakfast (I know, not the smartest move) because I wasn't really hungry. I had a couple of stuffed mushrooms for appetizer then dinner, didn't overdo it. I had turkey, stuffing, potatoes and corn...I don't think I was even away from the dinner table when my stomach started rumbling. Does it count if the food comes out as fast as it goes in??? Did anyone else have this problem? I'm sure it was because my body isn't used to that kind of food but honestly, the way I felt all night, it wasn't worth it.

Have a great week everyone!

YIPEEEE FOR EVERYONE!!!!!!
I also I'm excited I went off plan on Thanksgiving some and then stayed off plan Friday. It was so hard my husband and I were out shopping and I ate (are you ready).................... mexican food (saying this with my tail between my legs) yes I did and it was wonderful (haha) now saying that I DID NOT eat the same way I would have before Jenny. I didn't eat everything on my plate or seconds on chips and all the flour tortillas and in my past I would have plus anything else. So YEAH me!!! Went and had my weigh in and measurments because they forgot to do my first week so in 28 days I lost 6.75 inches and I can tell I've gone down 2 sizes! What a great feeling and I know I have many more great weeks to come!!!!

This is becoming a really great thread! I just had my really fantastic lunch of the broccoli + cheese potato, fruit cup and anytime bar (I think I'm in the minority, but I love those chocolate peanut butter anytime bars. This is surely related to my obsession with all things peanut butter, stemming from childhood smile.gif).

I like the way I feel after I eat this food. When I overeat, I feel lethargic. This makes me feel energized.

Is anyone else using this weight loss timeframe to make other lifestyle changes? I just added a couple of new vitamins to my regimen (Andrew Lessman vitamins rock - they're actually going to be Today's Special on the Home Shopping Network tomorrow. I've been taking them for about six months and I notice a big difference in my overall health, so I want to amp that up even more) and I bought a 4 lb. toning ball and am going to start working out with that to try to buff up my arms and abs.

Challenge of the week: I'm going to Disney with friends from Friday through Tuesday. I'm going to be as reasonably and moderate with my eating as possible, but I won't be on-plan from Friday dinner through Tuesday lunch. Really not great. I'm going to use this as impetus to give 110% from now thru Friday and from next Tuesday thereon.

'Morning Weenies!

I WI for my Week 14 this morning and lost another 2 lbs! It was very unexpected... I did really well with the food... had a MOMO Thanksgiving dinner but I was good with portion control. The one thing that was severely lacking were my Steps... I try to get to 10,000 a day and didn't come anywhere close. Well, actually Wed & Thurs I got a lot of Steps in, but after that the most I got was 6,000 lol. I'm really happy even though I'm surprised about the weight loss. I'm going to kick my steps into gear this week! My goal for Dec Steps is to do 10,500 steps per day... 325,500 for the month! There is a December Steps challenge going on if anyone else wants to join and set their own goal for the month. It's on the General message board called "December Steps" smile.gif

Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving, and have a great rest of your day.

Congrats to everyone on their losses!! And to those who didn't, no worries! Just stick to the plan and it will happen for you!!
I had my WI on Weds. and lost 2 pounds:) Although Thanksgivvng was here, it wasn't too much of a challenge.......my sister-in-law cooked, so no leftovers and I don't really like her cooking that much!! lol
Christmas will be a different story though!

Hope everyone is doing well:)

I don't see many reporting on a gain. I was fortunate that my normal WIs are on Fri but because of the holiday and being away from home I weighed in on Wed. then had until the following Fri. to weigh again. I am only up .6 and I am okay with it. (Thats point 6). I am just over my halfway mark and have lost more than 10. The next weeks should be good for me. Have a great weekend everyone.

Reading all the post makes me grin like a fool! I am soooo happy for all of you! Another reason I'm grinning is my WI. Lost 1.8 lbs for a total of 15 lbs in 8 weeks and 11.5 total inches melted away. Woo-hoo!

Last week I posted that I needed to re-evaluate my activity level. Now when I get home it is a race against the sun setting so I run/run-walk and try to get home before full dark. It helps to have a 12lb fur ball dog that refuses to let me get in front of or beside him. I swear he looks over his shoulder just to see if I'm gaining on him. Speeds up if he thinks I am. Wouldn't be so bad if he didn't look like he was smirking.

I also bought a Wii and the Wii Fit Plus program. I don't know what it is about it but I'm addicted. Maybe it's because I'm a gamer and the Wii program fills that gaming desire. I spend from 1 1/2 to 2 hours each evening doing the Wii Fit Plus and that's after I am walked by the dog. I think I fell in love with my little Wii when the little fella squeaked when I stepped on the board. It made some kind of adorable "aaahh" sound.

Have a great weekend!
