Hey girls... welcome to all the newbies too!!!

Today is the last day of Week 4 for me. Tonight i weigh in and tomorrow starts my non-planned menus! Things are going pretty well for me, although i really hate weighing in on Mondays because i always splurge a little on the weekend and Monday weigh-ins aren't always so pretty! Like today i'm 2 pounds above what i was on Saturday morning... went to a Halloween party on Saturday night... had 3 glasses of wine and picked at some cheese (not alot... maybe 4 slices). But that totally put my weight out of whack! I will still have a loss when i weigh in tonight, but not as much as it should be!

I'd love to switch my weigh-in day, but i know i'm always free on Monday nights which is why i started on Mondays. I'll talk to my JCC tonight about switching it up, because it's a little frustrating when i work so hard all week and my losses are so small!

Best of luck to everyone weighing in today! smile.gif

Jess, I'd definately look into switching my weigh in days, I've actually thought about it but so far it seems to be working out for me. I think I consciously think about Monday being my weigh-in day when I want to splurge over the weekend. Good luck at your weigh in tonight.

Yeah, that's what i'm worried about too... on the weekends right now i'm very conscientious (spelling?) of my Monday weigh-ins and it keeps me accoutable on overeating! I think i'm going to try to switch and then see how that works out for me.

Thanks to everyone for the words of encouragement. I am back on track. I was POP today. I went for a walk when I got home from work for about 30 minutes. I wandered off my usual path and got a bit lost so it may have been longer. I had to really talk myself into it though. I am really sore today. Last night I fell down a couple of stair and landed between the stairs, the wall, and a table with an air filter on it. My husband had to come and get me out. He heard the scream and crash and came to my rescue. I didn't really get hurt. I just have big bruise on my butt and am sore in my back and shoulders. It hurt my pride more than anything else.
To the person who went to Frankenmuth--- ooh, I love Frankenmuth!!! Did you go to Zhenders or the Barvarian Inn? Hopefully we will get there this year. I love their food and their red currant wine. Also, those buttery home made egg noodles with the bread crumbs. Mmm. Congrats on doing well!
smw0621
Today was my 3rd weigh in and I'm down 9 lbs 7 oz........yippee!!!!! 3 more ounces to go for 10 lbs!!!! If this isn't an incentive I don't know what is.

Hello Everyone!

I just started JC on October 9th. After 3 weeks into the program I just learned how to get into this website! I would love to be a part of this group! You all are so motivating! I am 27 years old, I will be 28 in two weeks and my start weight was 183. For someone that is only 5'4 that is really big. I have struggled with weight my entire life. I have gone on so many different diets and some worked but then I would gain all my weight back plus some! I struggle with clinical depression so it doesn't help with my weight! Throughout this entire year I tried so very hard to lose weight on my own, but nothing was working. People would come up to me and make comments about how much weight I was gaining. It still surprises me how direct people can be even when you don't ask. Finally I went to the doctor and he told me I needed to lose weight! That was my final straw! I was tired of hearing it from so many people, It not like I don't already know, but maybe it was what I needed. After 3 weeks in the program I have lost 9 pounds! I have found a new energy in me that I had though I lost. I have noticed that I feel so much better. I am so motivated and driven to reach my goal. My weight goal is to reach 130 pounds, but my life time goal is to be healthy, happy and to learn how love myself again. I don't ever want to struggle with weight. I want to learn how to be healthy! I wish the best for everyone! I am glad to be a part of this with all of you! smile.gif Oh by the way, I am from Phoenix, Arizona!!!

i had my first "official" weigh in and i'm down 5#s!!! I kinda think that amount might be skewred a bit because last week, i didn't "officially" weigh in with my JDC. I just went with what my dr.'s office recorded me as...170#! UGH! anyway, i do think i'm off to a good start and i do have high hopes. biggrin.gif i love the food, all except the aucky cream corn chowder...holy crap is that nasty!

i do have an awfully hard time though eating all those vegetables that we are supposed to fit in. i get full from eating the meals i'm supposed to, but then to have to add on a salald or more vegetables just about sends me over the edge! BUT i will say, i've not skipped any meals, which i'm prone to do cause i hate the way food makes me feel nor have i purged anything i've eaten--even though last night i wanted to! however i'm trying to think of food as "fueling" my body and if i'm eating the JC food it's easier for me to think that way.

have a great tuesday everyone!

Congratulations to every one's losses this week!! YAY Weenies! smile.gif

I had my first WI on Sat. and I was so pleased to see a 4.5 lbs loss on the the scale! I was so proud of me. I exercised 4 out of the 7 days and I was just about perfect on program. BUT...on Sunday I took my dd to a birthday party and I ate 2 slices of pizza and a bite of cake..and then on Monday I had about 5 pieces of Halloween candy..(chocolate) UGH!! I am so mad at myself but I am not going to sabbotage myself and just continue on this downward spiral..I have done great today and I plan to get a workout in tonight..

One of the hardest parts of this week is that I went from 1700 cals to the 1500 cal menu this week...so I can definitely see the difference in food.. I think I am getting a little more hungry this week then I was last week..I just need to adjust to the new menu..

I have to remember that this is a process..

Now off to figure out how to update my ticker! Have a successful week everyone and thanks for all of the support and ideas on this thread...it is soo helpful!

[size="4"]I joined on Halloween. I was debating on going Halloween or waiting til the first. I figured if i waited...I could do a lot of damge. I weighed in and had a little bit of candy but nothing like i would have if I didn't weigh in. I am hoping this works. I was on WW but feel I need more structure in the beginning. Its gonna be a long journey but for health reasons, I am giving it my all! Good luck everyone.

Hey Ladies,
Had my 2nd WI yesterday and I am down 2 more pounds. I have a general question for the forum... What are some good fruit choices that aren't necessarily fruit. Can fruit flavored yogurt be a substitute? What fun choices do you all use for fruit? Good luck to all the weigh ins today and the rest of the week.
Also, welcome to our newbies! smile.gif

Can we fast forward to, oh, i dunno, say March or so? That'd be REALLY great. Please vote now! smile.gif

oh, and WHO has jumped on the "create a blog" bandwagon!

Marie,

The point of eating the fruit is to get the nutrients fruit provides, so.... i doubt it highly, it should be in your success made simple guide.

Congratulations everyone on this week's weight losses. I weighed in yesterday...my first one...and I'm down 5 pounds! Yeah. A lot to go! But a happy start.

Start date: 11/27/09
Start : 159.5
Goal: 120
Week 1: -5

Marie,
I agree with Zexxi about the fruits!

A fun yummy way to get your fruit is to blend fruit with 1/2 cup yogurt and ice and make a wonderful smootie! For easy veggies on the go I do V8 (low sodium). Enjoy and good luck! --Linda

Congratulations to everyone on their weight loss this week.

So this morning I was excited about breakfast because I love the french toast. I got up did all the usual stuff getting kids ready, feeding them breakfast, getting ready and so on. Still not sure what I was thinking but it's my second week so I'm still needing to read the time on things for the microwave. For some reason I saw the 350(I think it was the oven temp) and I thought I'm not cooking it that long I'll do 3min and 30sec. YES..You can only imagine the smell when I walked back in and then saw my burnt french toast and flat plastic with my wee little berries sitting on top...Hmmm, so I did what most would do when hungry cut off the black hard parts of the bread and started eating!
Gopopogo
So I have to be out of town for 4 days beginning this Friday for work.
How will I ever stay POP??

I called the hotel where I'll be staying.
They will be putting a countertop microwave in my room, and a mini fridge so I can store my nonfat milk somewhere.

Who knew!!?! My JC consultant did!

Halloweenies,
HELP!!! I went to my first WI last Thursday and am NOT happy.

First let me say that I did not meet with the same consultant as when I signed up the week before.

When I stepped on the scale, it reflected a 1lb gain. I explained that the previous consultant took off a few pounds for clothes and she looked at me like I was crazy!!! I wanted to cry. In the end, we decided to start with the new weight. The remainder of my 10 minute meeting was her instructing me to write down everything I put into my mouth. I got my food and left feeling really down on myself.

When I got home and unpacked, I realized she shorted me (4) sandwiches and (2) cheesecake. I called, spoke with her, and explained the situation. She asked me several times if I was "sure" that I did not get the items. I was totally blown away by her attitude. I mean really .. are you kidding me??? I did not just miss that much food.

By the time I got off the phone with her I was just plain old depressed. So, I logged on and read more of the Halloweenie posts and decided I was not going to let one person discourage me from my goal. You are all GREAT motivators!!!

Here is where I need Help ~

I have followed the menu exactly as instructed and according to my scale, I have not lost a pound. I am constipated, extremely bloated, and ready to just throw in the towel.

I would appreciate any advise my fellow Halloweenies have to offer.

Thank you for reading,
Jenks

I feel like we are in the same boat. There are 3 JCC's at the center I go to. 2 I like very much the other is not the sharpest tack in the box. I find out she is my consultant. I have seen her twice now. She has screwed up my order twice now and given me the wrong menu once. That is 2 stikes. One more and the manager and I will be having a talk. With the other 2 I feel they are involved with this girl I fell she is just going through the motions. I refuse to let her bring me down. I really want to suceed.
Are you adding additional free stuff. veggies and fruit? Drinking water? Maybe your body is just trying to adapt to the change in food. If you are not comfortable with your current JCC maybe you need to request another. Not all personallities click.

CAWags,
Thank you for your support. I really want to succeed too, so I am taking your advise. I am going to ask if there is another JCC I can work with.
Yeah, I have been eating the free stuff and trying to drink as much water as possible. Before JC, I would drink a 6 pack or more of diet soda a day and have managed to cut down to 2 a day.

I guess I am just gonna have to wait to see what happens tomorrow.

Thank you again,
Jenks

Halloweenies!!!!!!

I just weighed in for the end of my Week 10..... and I LOST 4 POUNDS THIS WEEK!!!! I haven't seen a loss like this since my first week on JC!!!! I am so so so excited. I know exactly why I lost this much... it's because I upped the exercise like never before. I was able to get 10,000 steps for most of the days except 2 of them, and managed to work out all 7 days, even if it was just a little bit. I also upped my H20 intake a lot. I've NEVER felt this good in my life.

I've lost 25 pounds!!!! YAY!

As to Jenks, I would definitely request another consultant. As for me, I was a bit iffy with my consultant at first and wasn't sure if we were going to click. She also messed up my food order (I'm on Jenny direct and ended up skipping my whole Week 3 food and had to do MOMO's). But as the weeks have gone on, I've gotten to know her better & she's gotten to know me and now I love her a lot. That's just me though... sounds like you had a really uncomfortable experience and you should be looking forward to the program, not going home & feeling depressed from your JCC... they are supposed to be motivators! someone you should feel comfortable with.

And yeah, as for feeling bloaty & stuff... it will pass. I was feeling that way my first two weeks, but I was just getting used to my decrease of calorie intake & my adding fruits & veggies... I have never eaten this much veggies in my life lol. It will get better. I'm glad that you came here to find support, because I will tell you that THE PROGRAM WORKS if you work it. I've lost 25 lbs in 10 weeks! And I've seriously never felt better. You can do it too. smile.gif

Take care, and everyone have a great day! Can't wait to hear how y'all did this week.

Alyssa,
Way To Go!!! 4 lbs this week and 25 lbs total... Very impressive biggrin.gif

Thank you for your works of encouragement. I am glad to know that this bloating will pass.

I appreciate your support and that of all our fellow Halloweenies. It is posts like yours that inspired me to start JC and the reason I am determined to stick with it.

Have a Great Day!

Keep up with the hard work! It's really inspiring and motivating to read your posts. Please keep posting your progress...and what you're doing to lose all the weight!

Jenks--sorry to read about the problems with your JCC. Do you inventory your menu and JC food every week with your JCC? I believe it helps prevents mistakes from happening. As to the bloating and constipation...I had that problem in the beginning too...I started drinking more water...and it seems to have resolved itself.

Good luck Jenks!

That sucks that you had such a bad experience, at my center they make me read my list back to them while they bag it, you may want to try that. They have had to run back in and get a few items they forgot.

Make sure you're drinking plenty of water, that will definately help. I found my first 2 wks I was constipated, I think it was because of the veggies I was eating.

Keep it up, and remember we're all here to support you.

Jenks,

Make sure you are eating the min of 1200 calories....if not, your body goes into starvation mode and holds everything including your poop sad.gif That is what happened to me on my 3 weeks...because I do breakfast on my own they told me to only have a cup of cereal that is around 100 calories with milk...with that and my snacks I was only totally about 1000 calories...when I told my consultant that she said they recommend that low because most people don't measure out their portions...boy was I frustrated!!!! But the next week I gave myself another snack like a cheese stick and this week I lost 2lbs!!!! When I told her she was like good...I'm glad WE fixed that...I so wanted to say WE didn't fix that I fixed that lol. Another cause for constipation is you are not getting your water in you. Once you start (dare I say) pooping you will be losing!!!!! Other then that my consultant has been ok...it does seem like they are just going through the motions but I am losing and telling someone else my weight is probably what helps. So she keeps me in check if nothing else...I turn to these boards for the emotional support!!!!

GOod luck!!!

Have you thought about trying a new consultant it sounds like you need someone different. I love mine she is AWESOME and the cool part is everyone at my Center has been or is on the program. It really helps because they know EXACTLY how I feel. My consultant is on it right now so I will ask her about different things and she gives her advice or tells me what she does. I looked at my cerel I ate this morning (my jc) and the calories are 170 for the frosted oats. I'm glad you figured it out but she should have helping you in my opinion isn't that why they are there to help teach us how? Reading all these posts, it seems there are those of us having an easy time and those who are having problems. It is so good to be able to read both sides of this and relate. The suggestions from everyone are great. Even if I haven't had something come up for me, I can use them if I need to.

Last weekend I was away and had to eat out for lunch and dinners. With the help of my consultant and the dining out guide, I did it successfully. It was easy to but together the meals. I had shrimp salads 2 times and while those might have been something I would have normally chosen, I adjusted the dressings and asked for no cheese( and they were great).

I will weigh in in Fri. but so far things look good.

My last week loss was 2 lbs and after not losing on week 2 that is just what I needed.

Someone mentioned that they were not losing weight on the first 2 or 3 weeks and also mentioned that she drank a lot of diet soda. Remember all the salt in those products. You may still be retaining water and not to the point where you body will release it. Don't give up and keep up the water intake.
Have a wonderful week and good luck with the WI's.

Today was weigh in day for the end of week 4 and I lost 1.6lbs. My total so far is 12. I am only 3 lbs away from my short term goal of 5 percent of my body weight. I was hoping to get their today, but I will take 1.6 lbs. I was the guest speaker at a Rotary Club meeting today too-- so I was really proud of myself for not eating the big Gourmet breakfast. I stuck to coffee- and ate when I got home (after I got weighed.) The fact that it was weigh day saved me. LOL. I really want to answer all of these posts, but I need to get my homework done. Arrrgh.
Hey, Zexii-- I started blogging. Did anyone else? I will add you as a friend so I can read your blogs:)
Hope everyone is well. I hope to get caught up soon:)
P.S. I had the Swedish meatballs for lunch today. Sooooo yummy! It's only second to the turkey:)

Ok well I hope I am posting correctly! I was an avid poster on the WW message boards and it may take me some time to get used to these.

I have been on the program for about 2 weeks and so far I am loving it! The food is good and I have been adding a lot of veggies to the meals and really making them huge. I am pleasantly surprised at how good some of the meals are.

Anyway, I just wanted to say hi and join the group. I look forward to participating in the conversation!

Hello, Halloweenies!

Mickijo and Sonya - I am right there with you gals on the starting weight to goal weight. It's nice to see others with the same challenge!!

I'm solidly into week 2 and was very pleased with a 6 lb loss at first weight in. My partner and I are doing this together which is a great asset!! We managed to stay on plan despite two challenges this weekend -- a trip to Frankenmuth (known for huge, family style chicken dinner meals...hey, they actually have OTHER things on their menu. Who knew?!! LOL!) and a Halloween party (we did not put one peanut, M&M, piece of snack mix, candy bar or popcorn kernel in our mouths - we were so totally impressed with that success!). We did take our snack bar with us to the party so it *felt* like we were eating Halloween Candy! We are determined to make this work!

Happy Monday to you all and best wishes for a great POP week!

Chris

Hi Chris,
It is nice to have the support of people who are going through the same things, and know you are not alone!
Sounds like you're doing really well!! Congrats! Hope you continue to have a great week!

Way to go Lindi Lu!!!! And Welcome!! I have 103 left to go, so it is motivating to see that the loss will come! I was a little discouraged last night. I had my third WI and lost .4....I resisted putting "only" .4 smile.gif But if I average it out it is still over 2 pounds a week, so that is good:) I shouldn't have been, knowing how the weight loss thing goes, but the initial reaction is WHAT?? REALLY???

Again, congrats! and welcome to the group!!!

Ok! I was reading through the July starters and I was jealous. So! I started a thread for ALL October starters as well! smile.gif (/crossesfingers) I hope there are alot of us! smile.gif

Go go Halloweenies! (hope you don't mind if I call us that) smile.gif

So, my name is Zexxii. Not my real name but I use it on a video game I play. Ok, a video game I've been addicted to for 5 years and is how I got in this mess in the first place. smile.gif

I used to teach group fitness classes. Step, Cycling, and Yoga. However, I am a fast food junkie, and without working out (i stopped teaching and started playing 24X7) you tend to gain weight, especially if you have a tendency to gain weight anyway (like me!). I was down to eating one meal a day, (terrible for the metabolism) and I chose to eat (of course) ANY fast food I wanted, duh, I was only eating once a day. smile.gif Oh, and I would eat ice cream at night for "dinner" not every night mind you, but there are weeks where I would go through about 2 (quarts?) a week. I LOVE cookie dough ice cream.

So! Here I am, and I hope to meet alot of great people struggling with inactivity and bad eating habits just like me! Together, we can do this! I have a long way to go to get back to "me".

Who are YOU? smile.gif

Hello everyone!!

I guess I have been behind on this whole october starters thing! I joined Jenny craig on Oct. 12 of this year. My husband was recently deployed to Iraq, and while he is gone is the perfect time to focus on doing this for myself so I can become a healthier person. My starting weight was 197 lbs, I lost 4 lbs my first week on jc...then gained 3 lbs back my second week. The week I gained the weight was when my husband left, it was just a bad week. But it felt AWFUL getting on that scale and seeing the result. I have no excuses! I no what I did. That experience opend my eyes...the scale does not lie! From here on out I plan to have some sort of weight loss everytime I step on that scale. I am currently weighing 196 lbs...my goal weight is 150lb. I am excited to start this journey but need to keep things in focus. It is really nice to know there is such a great support system to come to online.

Please bare with me as I get used to posting! how do you get one of those tracker thingys??

Good luck to everyone!!

After 4 weeks I have lost 12.2 pounds and I am very happy with the progress!! I decided to change my WI day because I saw a different JCC today and found her to have a lot more energy and positive, encouraging things to say. I still like the food and still am motivated. Reading the forums almost every night has helped a lot too. 28 lbs to go!

Keep at it ladies!

Hi Jill, welcome!

To get a ticker, you can click on anyone who has a ticker on their signature... it should say "Create your own/a new ticker" and click on that.. then when you are finished, it should give you a URL. Copy & paste the first URL it gives you into your signature. To edit your signature, go to "My Controls" and it should say "Edit Signature" on the left side as one of the options.

Good luck, and glad to have you with us!

TGIF! And another weekend "challenge!" Hope everyone is having a good week. Since I gained at the last WI I am being extremely "good" this week. Have not veered from the plan at all. I know what my issues were last week. Went to the beach with friends for 3 days and had my WI the morning after I got home. Only went up 1 pound so I consider that a win. How is everyone else doing this week?

Thank you for reading,
Jenks

Good Afternoon Halloweenies,
I appreciate everyone's suggestions and advise to my above post.... You are the Best!!!

I decided to give it another shot with my JCC before asking to be switched. We met last night and discussed some of the issues I am having. It seemed to go pretty well. I lost 2.4lbs and am looking forward to my next WI.

Hope you all have a great weekend!
Jenks

My well meaning friend-

This is the story of my well meaning friend lets call her MF. She is a bit older then me by about 18 years, is fit as a fiddle . She wore her 35 year old wedding dress to the Halloween party and looked fabo! A bit of a health freak, into body scans and de-toxing but still enjoys a glass of wine with the ladies. So this is what that little MF did.

I told that little MF I am on JC and doing great.
She tells me to get off of it! All I need to do is detox, She lost 2" around her waist.
I said " I had no idea poop was stored around your waist?"
Spent the next 5 hours learning how wrong I really was.

Told my little MF how great I am doing with my walking program.
That little MF was so helpful in telling me how I needed to do sooooo much more because...
what I was doing was not enough.
Thank god for that little MF.

Ran into my Little MF on the street (While I was wasting my time walking) and she invited me over for a girls night. She is making a salad pizza on my behalf, she also cut out an article on therapy and informs me that this is why I over eat. "I need Therapy" But that little MF was soo sweet she also sent out an e-vite to all the neighbors informing them of my "condition" and they will all be there to help me cope.

There is nothing like a little MF to help you on your way to a healthy life style or to cell block 12A which is where I am writing you from( my little MF didn't stand a chance against my Bif Fat B.U.T.T.
I would have written more but Theme the Thug is getting her GED online and needs the computer.

well... ok then!

Just checking in with everyone! Nice to see so many October starters! How is everyone's exercising coming? Anyone found anything GREAT they should share with us?

Thank you for the help with the tickerfactory. Now may my posts will have personality.

This is the end of week 4 for me and I have a weight loss of 7.6 and 3 inches lost. Before I started this program I began an exercise program and from that start I have lost 10 pounds and 6 inches. So I am happy with the 7.6. To get to my goal I need 15.8 more but I feel confident.

Good luck to everyone this weekend. They are the hardest for me. Also, I am finding with this time change, I am in the house more in the evenings with nothing to do. I am fighting the munchies. I will have to deal!!! Maybe I'll stretch my snacks out somehow.

Hi all!

I hope everyone is good and keeping spirits UP!!! I am glad that I set my weigh -ins for Monday so that I am NOT tempted to cheat at all on the weekends. However, I do find weekends challenging --you know not in the weekday rigid routine....any tips???

My new found saving graces are:
--WATER WATER WATER - I drink 8-12 oz when I feel the urge to eat something not so great.
--When I NEED sweets - I reach for a Diet Cherry Pepsi ---it is SOOOO good and is a great sweet tooth fixer for me. However I only allow myself 1 per day becasue of the sodium in soda
--I also started chewing Trident sugarless gum (Cinnamon or SPearmint). As someone in an earlier post mentioned to eat anything--you conciously have to toss out the gum before eating so it keeps me mindful.

Two surprises to me were that the JCC's don't ask/track your water intake and second they treat anything under 50 calories as "free". That can add up fast. So for me, so far, I'm not doing free stuff.

I wish everyone a GREAT weekend sticking with the program!

alihanna
Hi All - Hope everyone is doing great mentally, physically and emotionally. I had my WI on Friday and am down one pound. Woo-hoo!

I bought the Touchstone for Success - How to Change Your Mind to Achiever Your Goals. Very interesting and enlightening. The information will be helpful with my achieving my weight goals and can be applied to other aspects of my life. This journey of discovering Me and my relationship with food is fascinating and frustrating. Filled with peaks and valleys.

People comment on the cost of JC food. What I know for myself as a single person is that I am actually saving money. I have the same amount of cash in my purse that I had 2 weeks ago. No side trips to the coffee shop for one of the "dessert" coffees. No stopping at fast food places because I don't know what to cook or I'm too tired to cook. No loading up on snacks because work on Fridays is slow as molasses and I'm bored to tears. Then there is the grocery shopping. I wasn't taught how to shop for one. Having the quantity of produce needed for the week written out is a tool I needed. Just because soemthings on sale does not mean I need to buy more than I will consume in a week. I use to throw out a lot of food.

Is there an advantage of doing JC as a single person? I think so. It is only myself I need to feed. I admire those who are doing the program who have a partner and/or child(ren). I imagine it takes your creative skills and will power to stay on plan. And you probably surprise yourselves at the amount of creativity and will power you do have. It just hasn't been allowed out. Keep that door open!

Everyone have a fantastic week!
Iamworthit
Hello everyone. I just joined on 10/21/09. I am still trying to figure this site out. I have not learned how to post a pic. Also, can anyone help me learn how to add my diet ticker to my posts?
I have 58 lbs to loose and I have lost 5.8 lbs so far. I am excited and pray that today I will continue to stay on track on make the right choice.
