Ok, so I am on my 2nd full day of Jenny and I really want to have some beer and peanuts, am I alone? I have never had a real weight issue until a few years ago. Could be the added stress from my husband being laid off last year and me being the financial support of our family. I really enjoy cooking and enjoy eating even more. I love nothing more than to relax with my husband after work and have a few beers with peanuts or wine with cheese. Those are my vices. I have given up all alcohol for this journey that I am going on with Jenny and I must say it will be difficult. I usually have drinks with dinner about 2 or 3 nights a week. I have decided to go cold turkey and not even have my MGD 64 beers.

I signed up for 20lbs. for $20.00 but hope to lose at least 40lbs. ohmy.gif

First weigh in 09-28-09 189.6lbs.

Terry... of course you are not alone- but what do you want more, the drinks and nuts or the 40lb. loss?

We all have our vices and, believe it or not, some of them can be worked into the program occasionally. For example, a few nuts count as a fat. You could forego your salad dressing and have a few peanuts once in a while.

But, some of our vices are triggers, meaning they trigger us to eat more of one thing or want huge quantities of other things. Those vices just have to go!

Why couldn't you relax with your husband and enjoy a nice herbal tea? Granted, it's not the same, but you have to start somewhere.

Congratulations for starting and good luck to you.

I totally understand how you're feeling. My body craves water but my spirit craves a dry martini. wink.gif

Maybe you could plan in your MGD 64 into your calories, or go for a long walk before you have your MGD 64. It's 64 calories right? I am just guessing because I've never had it.

I am having the same issue with wine. My bf and I enjoy having a nice dinner on the weekend with a bottle of wine. I now sip at my one glass while I just keep adding the rest to his glass. He's in construction and is not a big eater so he has room for calories to burn. I think it would be nice to have a more active career, that would probably help me out some.

I've had the same problem. My consultant said I could have alcohol, just work out extra. My husband and I will split a 22 ounce beer - I'll fill up his glass and put whatever is left in mine. It usually gives me about 6oz, which is enough if I'm craving a beer.

I totally get it! My DH comes home from work and pours himself a glass of wine and I, more often than not, join him. I just have a hard time getting my head around giving that up at the end of the day. I know it is just a habit. If I didn't cave, I would have met my goal a long time ago, I think. I have no problem following the Jenny plan for the rest of the day. Dang it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Today, I am going to put up signs in the kitchen that say NO WINE!

Alchol is a starch serving, so without getting in the habit of 'alway' replacing as it is not nutritionally sound, why not treat yourself once an awhile by foregoing the starch in one of your meals ie: sandwiches don't have the bread. work with your consultant to make the right swap and plan ahead. deprivation sometimes can set us up for failure and we binge, so a once and awhile should not hurt your program.

Also another tip do half wine/half spritzer like water so that way you are only getting half serving and still enjoying a glass of wine, Or Margatita great recipe from hungry girl is : sieria mist and crystal light powder with tequila.
