Don't freak out. Focus on the behaviors. I had wi yesterday and lost 2.5 for the week. This morning, the 2.5 are back. What I know about my body is that I have very sore muscles today... seriously can hardly lift my legs to move them forward to walk... had very hard workouts yesterday. I also don't drink as much water on the weekends. So, for me, the 2.5 is definitely fluid retention. No worries.
Don't let the scale change your program. Talk with your consultant about the appropriate calorie level for your activities, etc. But don't overreact to one weigh in. This is a journey. Weight fluctuates for all kinds of reasons. You may have just caught it at the wrong moment. STAY OFF THE SCALE during the week. Just keep following your program and doing the best that you can.

LesterLou,
Thanks for the encouragement. I do not go on any other scale other than at my weigh-in.
I am very disappointed....No explanations from the consultant.
I asked her to c ontact nutrition...I faxed her my whole meal planner....She said she does not get back in to work till today.
Certainly somebody else could have called nutrition for me.
My program ends on 9/18... I was on 20/20...wanted to lose about 15 pounds.
If there is no feedback from consultants...may as well just buy Lean Cuisine...and save a whole lot of money.

I think it's asking a lot of your consultant to immediately explain to you why you gained 2.6 pounds in one week. It sounds like she's willing to contact the corporate nutritionist, she just hasn't been in the office to do so. Did you ask the center director to have someone else get involved?
Provided you've been following the program as written and haven't made any drastic changes in your activity level since you started, I doubt the nutritionist will advise you to change anything. Sometimes gains just happen. Yes, unexplainably. They can happen to anyone regardless of what you're doing. Bodies are weird mysterious things that we can't always control.
I'm sorry that you're panicked and frustrated about this. Having a ticking clock doesn't help, I'm sure. However, I'm not sure what answer you expect them to have for you that you'll be able to implement and see results from before the 18th.
Good luck!

LesterLou,
I am on a personalized 1200 calorie menu. Each person's program should be tailored to them.
Consultant did not offer to call nutrition. I called her back after my Sat. visit and faxed my prior week's menu. Found out nutrition was in on Sat...but not on Sunday... Consultant was at work on Sunday and never called me back. Asked for somebody to call on Monday...Centre director has been out of office.
Consultant promised to call me back and never did.
Although my trial is ending on 9/18...I was planning on continuing with Jenny Craig to meet my weight loss goals..
At this point...I am not sure this is the program for me.
As I stated before...you can buy your own frozen food...Lean Cuisine...also owned by Nestle....if your JCC center is offering no support...then why would anyone want to spend all of these dollars??????????????????????
I certainly don't need a grocery order person...

Wow! Are you seriously going to give up over this?!? I have been on this journey for about 10 months now and I have had a week here and there of unexplainable weight gain. As a consultant, I have seen MANY clients experience the same thing. After asking all the basic questions (are you following the menu to a tee? exercising? drinking water? is it the time of the month?) and we discover that everything is good, then there is nothing to do but shrug and say "that was weird, oh well, we'll see what the scale says next week." This is just a normal part of the weight loss journey. I am not sure what you are expecting your consultant to do for you but it seems like you are blowing this WAY out of proportion. Just keep following the program and the scale will catch up soon enough. It would be a shame to let a hiccup like this bother you enough that you give up. Again... this is normal, just relax and keep following the program.

Are you drinking diet soda by any chance? I was following plan, but I'd loose a pound one week, gain 2 the next...on and on. One week I gained 4 pounds even tho I followed the plan to the letter. My consultant suggested cutting back on the diet soda...I was drinking several cans a day. I never really believed it was that bad, after all it has 0 calories, right? I cut out all diet soda...I drank only water, iced tea or crystal light lemonade. I lost 8 lbs in one week and I am never going to drink soda again!
If you try it, don't look at the scale all week - it does take several days to get it out of your system.
Good Luck

No diet soda for me. I gave up diet soda so many years ago...can't recall... Many years ago I used to drink Crystal Light.Iced Tea...for years..I only drink ice water.......
Since I started the program July 10th....I was shocked with a weight gain.

I have been on program for over a year, and had a few little gains here and there. Nothing like THIS week however! Today at my weigh-in I was up 4.4 lbs.!!!!!!! Talk about YIKES! I ate out a few times over the weekend because I was out of town, but I made reasonable choices. Otherwise I was following plan, doing plenty of exersize, etc. I'm not quite due for PMS. All I can figure is that I am retaining water because my legs are feeling very swollen, and I am wearing heavier clothes than I wore last week (by about 1.3 lbs.). I've been on program long enough to know that it really works and that my hard work will be rewarded by the scale sooner or later.
Eating Lean Cuisine may not be the answer, since it tends to run higher calorie-wise and has much more sodium. LC panini's tend to be around 330-360 calories while JC's turkey club panini is 240! I personally prefer the taste of JC's food over lean cuisine also... the BBQ meatloaf is SO much better than lean cuisine's with its icky tomato sauce and bland potatoes! Well, thats my opinion anyway.
Take care,
Angela

Emerald Green,
Congrats on your weight loss.
I don't think Lean Cuisine is necessarily the solution to the problem. In any case...sodium is an issue and if I select a Lean Cuisine I would be looking at the complete nutritional breakdown.
I just feel that a consultant should be more interested in the client..and not just to take a food order.
In November of 2005...I was very successful on another weight loss program.... ..lost 28 pounds....and maintained the loss for over a year.....at that time I was weighing in 3 times a week...my food journal was always checked...if there was any time the scale should the slightest bit of gain or no loss...the counselor always made some suggestion.. I might add...I have all of my records from that time..I never had any gain like this.
At Jenny Craig..the cost of the food is very expensive and supposedly it is because you are also receiving guidance from a consultant. If she doesn't know...then supposedly answers should be gotten from a nutrition tech. One week.....lost... .4 of a pound...the next week lost 0 pounds..and the next week...a gain of 2.6.....After all I was on the program for 2 months.
So very disappointed.....only wanted to lose abut 14 pounds

You may not realize it but diet soda can have alot of sodium/salt in it that can make you retain water, it does make a difference. And yes gaining can be affected by alot of things, one thing you have to do is not get all bent out of shape by one week cause you will go up and down and not know why sometimes.

I have proof that a person should not give up just because they had a really bad weigh-in one week. Last week I had a gain of 4.4 lbs., and this week I LOST 5.4 lbs.!!!!!!! Not only that but I really should have had a gain this week, because this week is PMS.
So do not give up... brighter days are ahead! And try to focus less on the scale overall, it'll just mess with your head if you take the numbers too seriously.
Take care,
Angela

It sounds as though your main frustration is that you want an answer to something that may not have an answer. While it might be a good idea to change consultants because of your overall frustration with her, I think you need to relax about this gain. This happens and doesn't always have an explanation. I gained 2.2 pounds one week for NO REASON whatsoever. Very discouraging. But since I followed the program as written, I knew that it was a fluke and sure enough the scale went down the following week. Getting mad and demanding answers would not have helped anything. Getting frustrated and giving up on the program would have been even worse and had I done that I definitely wouldn't be so close to my goal today. You just have to trust the process. It works.

If you aren't already I am finding it helpful to track measurements too week to week. May see it show up there when it doesn't on the scale. Sorry for the frustration.
