This is only my second day on the program but I'm concerned with the weekly cost of food. I'm in my mid-sixties and like others, are on a fixed income. Will they allow you to purchase just "some" of their foods?

What I am thinking of is: purchasing my own cereal and not having to purchase ANY breakfasts from J.C. which would save some. But I'm not sure if you can do this --- is it all or nothing?

So far, the food has been "okay" --- I really didn't like the turkey burger but I don't care for regular turkey burgers. Are there any meals that you would highly recommend.

I just joined for 8 weeks and I am so hopful that I can loose during my first week.

Welcome Helen!

The best thing to do is talk to you consultant at your appointment next week and tell her of your fixed income. From my experience, they are quite willing to work with you; it is not an "all-or-nothing" mentality.

Many of us that have been on the program for a while have started to purchase alternative meals that are nutritionally equivalent to JC. That's the key- you can't just purchase any old cereal and think it will be a good substitution.

It is not recommended that you start substituting right away as this is a food-based program.

Secondly, you asked for favorites. You'll find that we all have different tastes. The best thing to do is try everything and decide what you like.

I like all of the food. There is not one item I don't eat. If I had to choose a few that are not my favorites, I would say the beef and mashed potatoes (it is a small portion) and the honey oat bar (a little dry).

Stick to the program as written and you will see results. Good Luck and keep us posted of your progress.

Thanks for your input ---- I do agree with you that I do need to stick to the designated foods since I am just starting the program. Besides, I need to see how they all taste!!!!!

I was just wondering if this would be an option for me down the road.

How long have you been a member of Jenny Craig? I joined for I havent been able to loose on my own for over a year and just keep getting more frustrated. Now I will know what to eat and when to eat it which is a discpline I need to follow. I am just hoping I can see a loss my first week.

I'm hoping these message boards will help keep me motivated.
