Hi Everyone - is there anyone else out there that has been on JC for over a year??? It'll be two years in November. I've lost 50 lbs the first 10 months, but haven't lost anything this past year due to boredom and the constant struggle with my addiction.

I'm somewhat frustrated with the lack of education of the so called "counselors" at JC. They aren't educated to deal with people that struggle with weight issues. They are basically sales people. After almost two years, I am now buying lean cuisine and WW dinners. I don't want to give up the JC plan because I bought the package deal that is no longer offered. I also don't want to put this weight back on as I have about 10 lbs.

Is anyone else out there struggling? If so, have you overcome the obstacle?? Any suggestions?

hi there, I have been on JC like 12 weeks or so, and I am bored of the food already, can't imagine 2 years, smile. I agree, the counselors do not know what we go thru, mine said she lost 20 pounds on another program years ago, like that compares? I have lost 27 pds in 11 weeks, I can't understand why it took you so long unless you had alot of trouble along the way. I hear lean cuisine has alot more sodium, you might watch that, and make sure you get all your meals and snacks in about every two hours, that really does help. I don't have alot of cravings unless someone makes me mad then for some reason I have the need to beat myself up, but I have made myself work through those times and breathe, it helps alot. Hope you do well on your journey, just keep it up, you will get there.

I agree that the food selection is boring for long time members. I have had to take a break more than once because I just could face the same old food day after day. There are so many choices at the market with similar calorie count that I switch from time to time.

To pass on a concept from another poster, "Stop looking to food for excitement."

Food is for nourishment. We have turned it into everything from a social connector, to an expression of love, to an anti-depressant. We look to food to keep us happy and lifted. That's part of the addiction for most of us. But too much keeps us sad and heavy.

This is an interesting topic because most of us ate the same fast food meals or homemade meals all the time before starting Jenny Craig. We didn't get bored...we got fat. Jenny Craig is more variety than what many of us were used to.

Here's my too cents:
We all have to do what works; if taking a break helps you and doesn't compromise your weight loss efforts, that's great! But...

It's not about the food. It's about finding a different source to fuel excitement in our lives like a new activity, a date night with our spouses, an outdoor walk, a new vegetable to try, or connecting with an old friend.

Good Luck.

Well I've only been on the program three weeks, and I love the food so far. But....I'm a guy....and we will eat just about anything you put in front of us laugh.gif

I'm not sure I could eat the same stuff over and over again for two years though. And I'm very surprised that we have the option to stray from the JC menu. We can actually buy the Lean Cuizine/Healthy Choice/Weight Watchers entrees? That's great to know, because there is a much bigger variety among those.

Thanks for sharing that tidbit for us newbies!

Bored with food?

Some things I've tried and loved:

on day I have cran almond cereal I can add 1 meat to day, so I then have turkey burger and add bacon for meat serving. I also have put onion, pepper, mushroom and some 75%less fat cabot cheddar (take from serving elsewhere) and that is yummy!

Pizza I have swapped out a milk or fat (i think?) with ricotta or feta and topped on pizza with lots of vegi's and throw in oven.

all of the meals I like to throw vegi's into the meal rather than on the side like :

meatloaf or salisbury steak cook some pepper, onion, mushroom and throw on top
chicken chow mein/cashew chicken... throw some sugar snap peas or whatever vegi into them
Chicken cabanara add broccili or asparagus

Sometimes if I need to do swaps for servings, i will take out the meat on sunshine sandwich, and add 1 meat to another item (haven't figured out if feta is a fat or a meat, need to ask) but just some ideas!!

and oh, the packets that come with the chicken or turkey sandwich are 1 fat, so sometimes I use "free" ketchep or mustard, and use a Fat elsewhere in another meal. Helps not to feel depraved.

I was doing ww and lc foods before joining JC, and they are higher in sodium than JC. I;ve done some label comparison, Also I keep my sodium at 1500-2000 because my weight could change 3lbs on any given day with water retention.

If your at a plateau and JC consultant not knowelegable....have you tracked your calorie burn each time you workout? you may want to try Jillian michaels (from biggest loser) book "winning by losing" to help understand calorie burn. There also could be hormone or thyroid issue.... try Jillians book "master your metabolism". I always say knoweledge is power.

sometimes if your workout is high intensity 5 x a week you have to up your calories that all plays a factor too and that book 'winning by losing" will help you understand it all.

OK - had an appointment with my doctor this past Thursday so I will use that weight as my WI for this week if ya'll don't mind. My JCC neighbor who normally weighs me is on vacation ... just getting into the van was an adventure. I used my walker to back my behind up to the 2 open doors on the side and just barely caught the floor of the car with my behind at which point I just rolled over on the floor like I do in bed and made the trip lying down along with the vast array of equipment - but, I really did need to be seen so yeah, somehow I made it with the DH's help.

100% off Jenny for the past 2 weeks, at first just broth and then added ginger ale, well, when I was last here I think my weight was 330? Thursday, it was 324.5 ... 58.5 pounds lost since June 5th 2009 or 72.5 lbs since 01/01/09. He put me on "Ensure" and soft foods. So, I feel rotten, will C&P this on my 2 fav's, wave a very weak hello to my friends and to MudMouse, maybe, just maybe I will make my goal of 299.4 by January - I'm gonna catch you, you rascal - you also 221 (I won the auction for Sherlock)

lostone -- you still out there? I see you have only posted once... in 2 years? wow. or maybe i talk alot.... and posted more. lol.

And, YES, I'm here! Been a Jenny participant since April 1, 2008.
One LONG year PLUS 5 months and a shakey 50 lbs.
On June 1st, I was 5 pounds lighter than now. tsk. tsk. But not only did the summer get in my way, company just kept pouring in the door. eating out. cooking. snacking (because that's what I always did when I was stressed!).

OK -- I started this Jenny Plan calling myself a "LIFER". Little did I know then that it was so true. I'm in one of my anxious moments (months) too. seems like others can do 50 pounds in 3 months. Just like you -- it's been a year and a struggle since then for me. BUT.... we'll make it! Don't STOP. and don't lose HOPE.

Ok,,,,, so WHAT TO DO??? I've really been stressing out over not losing weight... and then gaining. And, as I already said, stressing causes me to snack. And not on the veggies.

Well, thank you for this quote! Absolutely thought provoking.
"Stop looking to food for excitement."

Suzanne: YOU are fantastic!!! Great going!!!

Ok, going to go play with my Wii.
