Hi Everyone: I have binge-eating disorder and it's caused me to be 80 lbs overweight. I usually lose weight quickly but right now I'm very unmotivated, which in turn causes me to binge even more. I started Jenny and lost over 2 lbs./week for about 3 weeks, then something sidetracked me and I gained 22 lbs. in 10 weeks.

Just wondering if anyone else out there is trying to lose weight with this problem. I thought perhaps we could try to encourage each other to find substitutions for our binges, and maybe even gain some insight at the same time!

If you are interested, please contact me here, or it you want a less public display you can reach me at rhon_mex@hotmail.com.

I'm 43, an RN, living in Toronto. I have lots to be happy for but somehow even that knowledge isn't helping me right now.

I look forward to hearing from you, and let's squash our demons together!!

Hi RhonMex,

Good morning! I do not have a diagnosed Binge eating disorder but I do have a problem with binge eating! I am soon to be 48, I am an RN, living in sunny Florida. I have been on Jenny for three weeks going on four and I have lost about 8 pounds in total.

I started out strong with a 5 pound loss and then the next week I only lost 1 pound. Unfortunately for my diet I then went on vacation and gained 2.4 pounds!

So this week when I got back I lost 2.1 pounds in a day so you can bet it was water weight gain.

Then I had a bad day yesterday. I ate my Jenny food all day just as I am supposed to do but by late afternoon I had the first glass of wine, then the second, then a bag of Jenny cheese curls, and then the third glass of wine, and then the chicken taco nachos.

While I was doing this I knew it would not make me feel better but I kept going. It is like when I can't control or share my emotions my hunger just attacks me. Is that something you go through? My hunger just keeps increasing and it seems not amount of food will satisfy that need??

I have 28 pounds left to lose and I want to stay on it. I would love to be a support and be supported but I may not fit into the type of group you are looking to start. Just let me know if I can help!

Hi Susan:

First of all let me say congrats on the weightloss. that's great news. But it wasn't all Jenny...what made you join?

The main reason I chose JC is because I don't have to cook. I actually didn't do it for weightloss reasons, although it's a darn nice side effect! But I hate to cook, and with 12 hour shifts and 3 animals...well, there's very little 'me-time' and I don't want to spend it doing something I don't enjoy. Hence...food delivery!!!!

I know once I get on this thing and stick with it i'll do fine. I've lost weight so many times in the past, and always through healthy eating (I'm not a fad diet person)...but the problem is the emotional/substitutional eating. I have to find a way to keep that in check or I'll never be able to keep the weight off. Little binges? No big deal...10 week binges where I go into self-destruct mode? BIG DEAL. And every time I do the self-destruct thing it just becomes worse.

Right now I'm hunting online for a good support group, and am trying to find a psychologist who deals well with this problem...the last one was not so good! Hopefully one day I'll be able to get through this.

Florida huh? I lived there; will be heading back in about two years...have some more travelling to do before I give up my flexible lifestyle right now.

So yes, if you'd like to be check-in/support buddies that would be great. I'm at rhon_mex@hotmail.com, or you can reach me through the forum.

Have a great week, and keep up the weightloss...Just think how great you're going to look in smaller clothes in sunny Florida!!!
