A lot of us have difficulties at first getting started and staying with it. What I did is schedule an appointment with myself just like I would a doctor's appointment. If I missed an appointment I made myself pay $25 dollars for a cancellation fee. This same time every day was to work out. I also wrote out a contract with myself to be committed to exercising every day.

Now it took a few weeks for me to get into the habit of working out. It didn't happen over night but mentally I made the commitment to work on it.

I started JC in April of this year and I am now working out for 1 hour every day like clock work. What motivates you? What type of exercise do you like? Remember that it could be as little as a 30 minute walk every day at lunch or after work to get you started. Once you repeat the action over and over then it becomes a habit and you will stick with it.

Purpleinheart,
Though I don't pretend to have the food portion of this figured out, the activity part of this I LOVE! I have always loved to exercise (which is why my 40 lb overweight body is in shock )
and here's why: I love the time to myself, blasting music nobody else in my family appreciates (through my earphones, of course). I suggest getting an iPod or a TV to use while using your reformer (are you talking about the Pilates machine or the bands?) or while simply walking or hiking. If you can't stand long periods of exercise, start out with 15 minutes or so. I keep tract if time by either songs, programs or trying to pass people while walking (I pick out the weak ones and move on past smile.gif I jog for one song, walk the next. Or, I up the ramp to 12 on my eliptical machine for 5 minutes then back down to medium for the next 5 (and the next song). If you can watch television, you could use the time of the show to workout, the commercial to rest, etc. I guess the bottom line is thinking of it as time to yourself. Time to get your blood flowing, your mind clear and your body energized. Even if only for a short time.
That being said, losing 90 lbs is a huge accomplishment! I'm very impressed and sure you will be a success story.
Good luck.

I knew when I started JC that my biggest challenge would be the exercise. I decided to take the "no choice, no excuses" approach .. I started by walking daily. Every single day, no choice, no excuses .. thus eliminating the possibility I'd talk myself out of it (and I would have)

This approach has worked very well for me and has made all the difference in my continuing weight loss success. It's my routine now, it's never optional, it's as normal as brushing my teeth or putting on make-up.

I enjoy my hour walks, the time to myself with my music and my thoughts .. and then the rush I feel when I'm back home.

Commit to establishing a routine and then stick to it. Also, a healthy and active lifestyle is the key to keeping the weight off

hope that helps in some way .. it's working well for me
