Full Version: July 2009/ Chapter 07: 80-100+ lbs. to lose Support Group
Jenny Craig > Weight Loss Goals > 40-100
Mirandab2008

Do you have 80 to 100 (or more) pounds to lose? Join our weekly weigh-in support group in this section! It doesn't matter when you started or how much you have already lost. In fact, it would be nice to have some JC "success stories" join us. Come one...come all!

Important Note: This is a guilt-free zone. In order to the break the cycle of weight gain and loss we must remove one of the key ingredients. Guilt might be the hardest thing to remove, but that is our goal!!!

Following Copper's path and all that came before me, I trimmed the family tree to people we've heard from during the Summer. If you miss your name being there, please let me know so I can add you back! And if you're a new cybersibling looking to be adopted, let me know that, too. We have lots of love and support to share!

Cybersisters’ Recipes

loves2smile’s "Fake Mashed Potatoes"
Califlower, fresh garlic, salt &
pepper, light sour cream, fat free milk
Preheat oven to 200 degrees. Spray a shallow pan with Pam and peel 1 bulb of garlic. Cook for 60 minutes. In the meantime, steam califlower until fairly soft. Put califlower into a food processor with milk and sour cream, salt, & pepper (I eyeball everything) and blend until the consistency is smooth. When the galic is done, add to califlower mixture and pulse.
(Sometimes I even add some parm cheese to the hot mixture--makes them like cheesey garlic mashed potatoes)

mikesgirl’s Yogurt Pie
Take 2 8oz. cartons of your favorite flavored yogurt (nonfat, of course), and 1 carton of fat-free Cool Whip. Mix together and pour into a graham cracker crust. Freeze for several hours. Remove from freezer and let sit for about 1/2 hour before serving, to soften up a bit.
Now, I have already calculated the calories for 1/6 of the pie, without the graham cracker crust. If you use 90 ca. yogurts, it should come out to just 92.5 cals. per serving! So then I thought, rather than making it into a pie, why not simply make it a 'fluff' that you scoop into individual dishes and just sprinkle a little graham cracker crumbs (or maybe our toffee bites or chocolate chip cookies?) on top. Simply control the calories by how much of the crumbs you use.

Kore’s Oven Fried Chicken
Egg substitute
non-fat milk
bread crumbs
herbs & paprika (to taste)
skinless chicken breast (I prefer precut strips or cutlets)
1. Mix the egg and milk in a bowl until frothy
2. Mix bread crumbs, herbs and paprika
3. Heat oven to 400 degrees, spray your cooking pan with nonfat cooking spray
4. Swirl the chicken in the egg/milk mixture, then roll to coat in the crumbs and place on cooking pan
5. Cook until done (depends on style of chicken cut as to how long it needs to be cut)

loves2smile's Tips from Her JCC

CHOCOLATE OR LEMON FRUIT CAKE
Slice up 3 strawberries or a small banana and saute in a small pan sprayed with Pam over medium heat until soft. Add a packet of Splenda and cook until gooey. slice your cake in half horizontally and put the fruit in the middle. Top with a dollup of sugar free Cool Whip. Delete one fruit serving and one fat serving from your day.

KUNG PAO BEEF-
Prepare Beef Chow Mein as directed. Stir fry 1 cup bean sprouts and 1 tsp reduced sodium soy sauce in nonstick pan coated with Pam for 1 minute. Stir in Beef Chow Mein, 10 peanuts, and a dash of red pepper flakes. Heat through. Delete one fat serving from your day.

LENTILS AL GRECO
Heat Lentils with Beef as directed. Mix in 2 tsps lemon juice, 1/8 tsp chopped garlic, and 1/4 tsp Greek seasoning mix. top with 1 Tbl crumbled reduced fat feta cheese.

PEPPERMINT CHOCOLATE CAKE
thaw Double Chocolate Cake and cut in half horizontally. Mix 1/8 tsp peppermint extract with 2 TBLS fat free Cool whip. Spread topping on bottom layer and reassemble cake. (Can add fruit if you count it as one of your alloted fruits)

CRAVING ICE CREAM--TRY THIS
Take 1/2 cup yogurt, 1/2 cup skim milk, a packet of sugar free hot chocolate, and put them in a blender with some ice. Blend it until it is smooth, then freeze it. You can also add a banana or other fruit to make it a milkshake. (The yogurt and milk count as 1 milk serving. The hot chocolate is a limited free food. If you add fruit, count it as 1 fruit serving.)

Good Morning and Happy July to everyone - also a Happy 4th of July to my neighbours to the South!

I have been on a stay-cation for the last week and had my WI today... down another 2.4lbs for a new total of 46.4lbs in a mere 19-weeks!! WAHOO!!! I am quickly approaching halfway with only 6.6lbs left to go. Already working on my halfway meal plan... and getting a little scared.

I hope everyone has an amazingly relaxing day!

Hey Miranda,

Can you please update my weight to 214.6lbs.

Thanks!! biggrin.gif

Happy 4th of July - I hope you all have a great one!!

My plan for the day....... I am taking my JC Turkey Burger and my JC Strawberry Shortcake to the 4th of July party I am going to. I will also eat any fruits or raw veggies they have. Ta-Da!!

Miranda - Thank you for starting the new month..... You always do a great job!!

Flee & Kay W - Welcome to JC and to our group - My start weight was 237 and I am now down to 182 in just 26 weeks. I just want to encourage you and tell you if you stick with it and don't give up on yourself..... you can do it!!

2-one-of-a-kind - Way to go on the activity!! Just to let you know - you still surpass me on activity even on the days you feel like you did not do enough. Like I said before..... it may have something to do with you being SO close to your goal...... You are doing great!!

Murlin - Congrats on you 2.4 pound loss - You are doing an awesome job!!

Talk to you all Wednesday!!

Happy 4th all!!!

"Good Evening my CyberSisters!"

Kay, Welcome to the new journey with JC and with us the "CyberSisters"...you will be so happy that you started the journey to a new and happier new you!!!

Murlin, ***WTG -2.4 lbs.gone.for.good!!!***...You are so close to halfway, simply fantastic!!!...I know that I still struggle with making my meals and keeping to the correct portion of food...I will be forever learning how to make the portions smaller for me...it is a transition that I will continue to work on everyday...choices and more choices...smaller and healthier choices...

LaJoyT, Your dinner choices sound good for the 4th of July party!!!...I am learning how to keep at the activity by walking each night since last Tuesday for a min of 50-60-70-mins...I need to keep walking and now to get to a resistance training class to build muscle and burn more calories...

Thanks for cheering me on for the ultimate first goal...just 10-little pounds and then I can make a second goal for another possible 10-lbs...which will be the topping on the cake so to speak...

I cleared off the kitchen counters last night and tonight I will be doing some more house decluttering...

junmnand, Thanks for the support!!!...

I might have a new volunteer to help feed 7-8-Adopt-A-Spots with the
"The Kittie Angel Network" "Adopt-A-Spot"...

I went to PetCo and to PetSmart and I have to say that PetSmart is less expensive for kittie chow...like $4-$8-cheaper for the kittie chow...

My dream is to have a sanctuary somewhere in Dallas for the stray-feral-abandoned kitties that live in the streets and that they will have a protective environment...where volunteers will feed and water the kitties and make sure that several vets will visit the sanctuary to keep an eye on the kitties health...

Dear Universe, please hear my plea for the kitties to be in a safe and protective environment, Thank you!!!...

I am getting ready to go feed the colonies and I will take a walk before the day is through....
I have walked almost everyday since I went to JC and saw what the scale had to report...I will get to that first goal number!!!...I must...

Flee, you are doing great and you are getting really close to being in Onederland!!!...

If you can cut up carrots and celery and take that with you when you are on the road...
I don't mind eating my food cold...like the shelf stable foods, the cookout chicken, there are several that I like but it didn't start out that way with the shelf-stable foods...but now I don't mind having them in a pinch..

I purchase dried prunes and carry those with me too...any fresh fruit really will help you from starving and then going off into a binge food fest...so keep some food with you snack fiber bars...small handful of almonds might help too...

I will write more on how to travel with food and what I do to hold me over until meal time...

I did go for my 70-min walk tonight and I went to the gym for some lower body weight resistance training and I got on this one machine that vibrates your whole body...wow...did I laugh out loud and it was loud and fun at the same time...

Hello all!!

Well, my wacky body is up to it's tricks again!! I lost 4.8 last week and gained 1 this week......

I am fine....... really....... when you lose 4.8 pounds in 1 week you gotta have a little room for fluid losses....

This weeks plan - JC foods everyday - No MOMO's this week - Lots of water - No diet cola's - Activity Everyday!

It will probably flux again next week but just hold on and wait for that next big drop!!

2-one-of-a-kind - Great work and determination on that activity plan and I had a fun visual of your gym experience!!! Glad you had fun!! biggrin.gif laugh.gif biggrin.gif

Flee - Just try to space your lunch as equally as possible between Breakfast and Dinner and don't skip your snacks. You may be able to get a little lunch box cooler to keep your yogurts, fruits and veggies cool. I cook dinner at 8 - 9 most nights too so I just eat my lunch a little later than most and it has not affected my losses.

Ya'll have a great week!!
Oscar T. Grouch
Hi everyone.

I am back, I had faded away into oblivion with some struggles of my own, I am now back and recommitted and ready to lose again and keep it off.

Today July 8 and I was 203.6

My goal is still 150

"Good Evening my CyberSisters!"

LaJoyT, ***WTG, Not letting that silly scale rule your day!!!***You had a great drop in the prior WIn and what I see is that you had an even number drop of 2.lbs per week and that is fantastic!!!***

Don't be so hard on yourself with the MOMO...I know that we have to a some point in time make our own meals and stay within the proper portions to maintain our drops...this is the hard part...figuring out how to make this new lifestyle work for us when we are away from JC...so I am not saying I am doing this perfectly, but I have to use JC food for awhile to keep my eyes on how and what a legal portion of food is when I have a meal...

You have done a fantastic job lady!!!...Keep doing what you are doing because it is working...

Oscar T. Grouch, ***WTG on getting back on track with JC and with your CyberSisters!!!...
Onederland is so close and you can do it!!!...Welcome back!!!***

Hi everyone!!! rolleyes.gif

I've been away for a while but am back online now. Although I have been staying on program, I've been too busy and too burnt out to look at the computer after work. Audit time is now over at work and things were passable so there's a big sigh of relief.

I went out and got a second part time job (I think). Something to get me out of the house, meet new people and help make ends meet. I'm excited about it, it's at a movie rental place and although it's only minimum wage, I'll get free rentals. Fringe benfits.

I've been doing my running and last week I made it my 5k. It took me 50 min. to do it (I guess I'm built for comfort not speed) but today I did it in 44 so I'm improving!!! smile.gif

Things seem like they are on an even keel and then I lost 3.4 lbs today at my WI so that's icingon the cake (figuratively speaking of course!!)

Welcome to Flee and Kay W. I love JC. I can't tell enough people about it. I've lost 41.1 pounds since the beginning of April and am thinking I'll hit halfway by the end of July only 8.8 lbs to halfway!! I'm sure you'll love it as well Keep coming here for the best motivation to be found.

Take Care everyone!!!

Good Morning!! It looks like a horrible rainy day today, although the rain has not yet set in... it appears to be on its way!

LaJoyT - great job at not getting down about the gain... you are kicking butt on the program and it will come back in spades next week with a good drop! Keep up the positive attitude!

Carole - welcome back... glad to hear that your work is back to a normal level. I can relate to the audit work as I am an accountant and am just about to start prepping for year-end (June 30)... YUCK!

Today was my WI and I was down another 1.6lbs for a new total of 48lbs... so close to halfway (only 5lbs to go). Slow and steady wins the race, right?!?!

Well, have a great day everyone!

I am getting ready to go to the gym and feed the kitties...
The Electrican and the AC guys canceled today but will be at the house at 8am on Tuesday...

Welcome to all you new folks!! Welcome back Oscar T Grouch (cute name)!!

Congrats to all who have lost and stuck with program and activity this week!!

I am having a strange problem - I wondered if I am the only one.......

When I weighed 237 I never knew that I was that big. As I began losing weight I felt great - really excited to be going down in sizes and feeling great. All of a sudden when I am well past 1/2 way, weighing 182, I look in the mirror and I am suddenly critical of myself. I am looking at areas that have not gone away yet, skin that is starting to look loose and I am feeling fat.......... I know that this is all in my head...... logically it does not make since...... I continue to self talk and motivate but it just seems strange to me that I am going through this at this stage of the game.

I also have realized that ALL my adult life...... I have a problem with weighing less than 190..... I remember in the past when I would hit 190 on a diet I would sabotage myself and gain it all back plus more..... It is like I have to make sure that I CAN still lose weight..... I guess I feel the need to be in control of that or something.

Now I see myself trying to repeat the same pattern - I will not - I will not - I will not!!

The good news is that I am aware of this ongoing problem and I am in a good place to stop it!!

Sorry to have such a heavy tone - has anyone else ever gone through this or know what is going on?

"Good Early Morning my CyberSisters!"...

theatreannie, Welcome to the family!!!...We look forward to hearing more about you...

lauseb, thanks for checking in and we are wishing you a great week too!!!...

I am up and the electrician and the AC guy's are here and the power is off...I layed down from 530am until 730am...but yes, I will be going back to sleep when they are finished...

I will have a new breaker box on the outside of the house instead of in my clothes closet in the master-bedroom...when we bought the house in 1996 we should have had a new one installed at that time due to the fact that this circuit box is notorious for not tripping and causing fires...so needless to say we have had angels looking out for us these past 13-years...

I am crossing my fingers that they get the job done asap and have it professionally installed and safe...

I have been walking every night for 60-65-mins and hitting a few weight resistance machines a few times during the week...
I only have taken off one day a week since the first of July...woo hoo...

LaJoyT, I can say that I too feel fat and don't like my tummy in any way shape or form...it has always been my problem area...I hope that it will shrink in time...I have to remember to suck it in and get to doing some crunches or ab work...I don't like to do it but if I want an improvement I will have to do some work...

I don't know if it is called control that "we" don't feel smaller...I don't know what it is...I am sure that in time we will conquer these demons in our head and finally put it to rest that "snack attack monster"...I am such an over-eater...it doesn't have to be snacks it could be a salad or fruit it doesn't seem to matter what the food is I eat it and then some...silly me...but I am aware of it and hopefully I can get a grip..."eat like a normal person"...

I know that I will be needing support as we travel on this journey and this is a good place to visit on those occasions that flare up from time to time...

Thanks, one-of-a-kind

"Good Morning my CyberSisters!"

I am up and today is day one of becoming a day person...no more vampire hours...
Last night it was lightening out so I did not walk and went to bed at 230am and was up at 830am...

Today the window guy will be here at 1030am and this is the start of something new and beautiful...
I can't wait to get into my new groove...
First, using my real estate license...
Second, spending some quality time with hubby...
Third clearing out the clutter and downsizing all the "stuff" and getting it out of this house...

I listened to Dr. Oz on Oprah radio yesterday and it was about dieting...go to www.oprah.com and look for yesterdays show with Dr. Oz on Oprah and friends radio...

I will close for now and get ready for the day...I already tended to all seven kitties and gave Sheba kittie her insulin...

2-one-of-a-kind - I am so glad that you are getting the needed house repairs done. I know how it feels to live in a home with faulty electrical. I would sleep with one eye open. My husband is a general contractor and we lived like that for several years. I finally hired one of his sub-contractors to come to our home and fix it.

It sounds like you are well on your way to your new lifestyle (as a day person) I hope that you will find more positives then negatives in it.... I know it will be an adjustment on your inner time clock but you will do well!

Thank you for the encouragement. I know it is just in my mind but I guess that is truly were the food battle is. It just shows up on the outside. I try to never judge Kirstie or Oprah or any of the others who have gone before us.... I just try to learn from there mistakes..... and try to keep on track.

The time for me to be critical on myself is NOT now - I need to remember the accomplishments!!

Everyone have a good weekend!!

Thank you - it is good to know that I don't fight this battle alone. I am really trying to do some good self motivation and encouraging.

I am determined to get a grip on this before it is too late. I guess these weeks remind us why we have to keep being aware of our ability to sabotage ourselves. Thank you again.

Hi everyone,
Well another week gone and so is 4 lbs! I'm very happy about this. Last week I must have moved about a ton of concrete chunks by hand so manual labor is a great exercise strategy.

LaJoy, I know exactly how you feel. I think that when I weighed 260, I just looked at myself and eveything was bleck!!! now that I've lost 45 pounds I'm looking at the mirror more often and still not that thrilled. I think that it is just too much when we are really heavy and now that we've lost some annd can see a bit of form and hints of things yet to come, we can be more critical because our self esteem can take it better. On good days I use those critical impulses to motivate me and go for a really good run or stick really strictly to the program. On bad days, well.....

We're all there with you through this, and we will get there, it just takes us a little while to get everything to the same place. I guess it's like growing up again, we have to grow our attitudes to fit our new us.

Take care everyone
Welcome tto the newcomers.

Oh and Miranda you are just the best for starting the months for us, the graphics are really cool.

Congrats on the 4 pounds gone, gone gone!! Yeah You!! I can only image how many calories you lost with your heavy labor!

Thank you for sharing your own feelings and ideas on how to handle those not so good days. I am doing better this week - I just hit a slump and was stuck in it - I feel much better now.

Yesterday I planned to go to a movie with my husband and eat out at On The Border (tex mex). I allow myself one meal a week off plan, eating what I want but not so much that I'm too full.

I took 2 small snacks to the movie- the Jenny popcorn & 2 TBS nuts, that were on my menu for the day. I ended up giving one to my husband and just having the small bag of popcorn. Skipped the candy and movie popcorn.

Went out to eat and ate exactly what I planned and took the rice and beans home because I was full instead of just eating them because they were there. When my hubby asked if I wanted Rita's for dessert I really liked the idea, but I decided to wait a bit and decide if I still wanted it later. After a bit I realized I was full enough so I skipped it.

It's really nice to be able to have a meal that's a bit off plan that doesn't go totally out of control!

"Good Early Morning to my CyberSisters!"...

I am going to take my walk at 5am after the 2-kitties are picked up off my patio for clinic today...

Can you believe that my friend thought that he only had 8-10-adult cats and kittens and now that number has reached 18-kitties...Wow...14-kitties on Thurs. 23rd and 4-kitties on Mon. 27th...total 18...

We will still be going to this colony to see if any more kitties show up and we will take them to the clinic...

I am hungry and tired...so I will eat then take my walk and try and get some sleep...I might have to wait on the electrician to show at 9-10am and show him what outdoor lights need to be adjusted, then I can go to sleep...hopefully...

I am hanging strong and trying not to be to tempted to eat extra snacks, so I can reach my goal weight...

Staying strong so far...

I did go to ballet class for 30mins yesterday (sat) and got on the treadmill for 30mins then I went to sleep and fed the 6-colonies and then took a 60min walk and stretched for 20mins...woo hoo...

Thanks! Its so nice to have people to relate with! My boyfriend is as skinny as can be and just doesnt understand how hard it is to diet. Last night he came in the bedroom with a sandwich! I asked him to eat it in the kitchen. He acted like I was just being a B**** but its hard to have someone eat in front of me so late when thats the hardest part of the day for me! He is there for me he just cant relate to me!

Loss 7.2

I know I had a great week. Another 1.8 lbs gone. But after no loss last week b/c of my cycle I had really hoped for a little more. Now I have to take a second look and realize that 1.8 is a good loss.

I'm beginning to wonder if I'm eating enough, though I'm never actually hungry. I'm on the 1700 cal plan but wasn't working out when I started, so I think my cal plan was not based on working out 45min- 1 hour 5 days a week like I am now. If I'm not happy with next week's loss I may talk about that with my consultant.

Last week was also a good week b/c
- I worked out 5 days
- I had my brother in law in town and did not eat out of control (and made a point of going to the gym)
- There was an opportunity for free pizza, free nice dinner, free bbq ribs- none of which I had
- I discovered the joy of having just one bite. 3 times during the week I really wanted a taste of something, but instead of splitting with another person and having half I just had one small bite.

This next week I'm going to be on plan 100%- Week 1 mentality again. No reasons for fudging the plan this week and I'm going to eat all the limited free foods in addition to my full menu for the day.
