Full Version: Summer- Maintenance Warriors!

Hi Warriors!! I am starting up a new thread for us to see if we can all let each other know how we are doing. Is everyone enjoying summer? You must all be having a good and busy time b/c we are not hanging out here much!

I am doing well. Of course, super-busy w/ summertime stuff. I also picked up a work from home job so that is taking up a lot of time. My weight is so so. I am at the top of my maintenance area I like to stay in. And that is probably b/c I am still injured (my foot) and not getting to run. I am lap swimming some but it is just not the same exercise for me. And I LOATHE swimming so I don't do it as much as I should. I just got put back in a boot for my foot and I am not loving it. The doc wanted to put me in a cast but hubby is leaving town soon and I wouldn't be able to drive myself. (Did you know that a person w/ a cast on their right foot is considered an impaired driver? I didn't know this... but it makes sense.) So I have to go back in the boot. I also had a cortisone injection yesterday. Lots of fun. If I don't heal this time I will be having surgery. Ugh!

Soooo- I've decided to go back on JC food for my sanity. It is just so structured and there is not a ton of structure to my life right now. I love the ease of knowing what I am going to eat and that it won't make me gain weight! Then I can worry about other things like my children, my new job, my home, etc. It is nice to not have to "worry" about what to eat!

That is what is going on here. I miss talking to you ladies. (Deb, Sam, Becks.) And anyone else out there who wants to chat w/ us/me! This is always such a fun and supportive thread. I want to hear about your summers and what you've been up to! Hope you are all well and can't wait to hear from you.

Peace,
Sarah

Hi Sarah,

I am so glad summer is here. I have at least a hundred positives about being on maintenance and only one negative. I am always cold. I am so glad that the warmer weather is finally arriving.

I am also at the top of the maintenance window that I would like to be in. I would like to lose 5 lbs so that I would have a nice "cushion" and not be so close to my goal weight. Last summer I seemed to fit in a lot more activity then I have so far this season. Hopefully I can change that around soon. I've just been so busy the last couple months with my son graduating from college, then we took him on a vacation, and work has been crazy.

Have you tried some of the new Jenny foods yet? I'm so glad they came out with so many new things. I love the new popcorn and I think everyone else must to because the last 2 times I stopped by my center they were out. I really like the new chicken and corn chowder soup and the new salad kit was pretty good too. It was the first salad kit that I've actually liked. It's nice to have a to go option like that in the summer that you can take to a park or to the beach that you don't have to heat up.

When I started in Jan. of 2007 we had a strong thread going with so many people posting. Then about 6 months ago there were only 4 of us and lately I haven't seen anyone posting. I miss my gals too. I hope they are all doing well... Melody, H&H, and Princess Rose.

Hello Warriors....
Sarah I have your magazine article almost worn out showing it to all my friends on their weight loss journeys.
You look so fabulous in the article and should be very proud of all your hard work and determination. You have inspired me to work harder to achieve my personal goals. I am sorry the foot is still an issue for you. My son broke a small bone in his wrist playing Lacrosse in College. The blood supply is so slight in the tiny bone area that eventually he did require surgery and has healed completely. It is a complete nuisance with hoping/waiting it will heal. I think you are very smart to go back on JC and have controlled portions ready to help you through this time of less activity. It is totally understandable to reach for JC when we know the fat monsters lurk in our heads. I have been MIA due to work, life and my daughters wedding plans. All very exciting but time consuming. I have changed my maintenance strategy to fit this hectic pace. I am still walking 5 miles but only 4 days a week. I go to a Salsa Aerobics class on Monday nights - it kicks my butt.
For all the Jazzercising I did for all the years I did it...I thought this class would be a piece of cake! All I can tell you is ...I didn't recognize the lady staring back at me in the mirror...having trouble shooting my hips like a rocket. I have danced/exercised my entire life...and this class is kicking my butt....I go back for more tomorrow...Can't Wait! I'm hoping to look Fierce as the Mother of the Bride smile.gif I have until January.
The second change I've made is I'm back to WW for maintenance meetings. I seem to need that right now and it has done wonders for my focus. I am not afraid to cook and eat the correct portion. Took me a long time to trust myself. I had to go back there counting points although JC is the same...the meetings help!
I am a Life time member of both plans. My JCC know I'm doing this and because we have become friends...I still check in once in awhile to let her know how i'm doing. I buy some breakfast stuff because I love them all!
Right now I'm down another 8.8 lbs. It has been slow and steady and that is all i care about...Moving in the right direction. Salt is still not my friend....but I try to limit the nibbling.
The visual of me in My dress for the wedding is keeping me going. A work in progress. Arms have been the biggest challenge. I have been working steady with my weights but it is slow.
My husband thinks I look tiny...yes he used the word Tiny in my bathingsuit today. Not sure what he was up to...But I accepted the compliment and walked around the pool a little taller today....
So I guess it is all coming together. I wll always consider myself A Jc person as I started so long ago. I just need a little break with the food and see how creative I can get with my meal plans... I am at Trader Joes shopping for most of my whole grains and organic foods.
So glad you started this thread...
Love,
Debz

Sarah,
I have your article too. Just wanted to stop in and say congratulations again to you and thanks for giving those of us like me still on the journey hope that this CAN happen! You look fabulous and it's great to read about maintenance. Just continues to reinforce for me that I have made the right choice for a lifestyle change.

Hope you have a wonderful summer!

Hi Sarah & Debz,

Glad to see the thread still going strong smile.gif Geez Sarah sorry to hear about your foot !! That's the downside of being an athlete...injury setbacks ! Hope you heal without the surgery.

Debz, way to go on the workouts! I wish I was coordinated enough to take a dance cardio. My friends are taking Zumba and say it's a blast.

I'm on the upward end of maintenance. About 5 lb over my goal weight, not too bad but I feel a little draggy. It due to not doinng the cardio like I was but until this powwerlift event is over ( 2 weeks) I can't as it causes me to lose strength. It's funny because I have to wear this little skin tight leotard on stage and I feel like a blimp. Oh well, I'll be back running and doing my normal workouts after July 18.

Glad everyone is doing well smile.gif
