So just a little vent...my first week weigh in was yesterday and Im down 8.2 lbs. I started at 183 lbs..highest ever, however thats with my period...so now that my period is gone and whatever they say about water weight and whatever, but I am soooooo stupidly nervous about next weeks weigh in and its the 1st day of my second week! I know that it should not be as much as 8 lbs., Im prepared for that, but yikes, what if I lose nothing?! Here's to me thinking of the worst, hoping for the best...a 2 lbs loss. My mini goal is 10 lbs for a July 10th wedding, then 10 more for the 2nd week in August when I go away...

sigh. thanks for listening. but ugh to next thursday.

Congrats on your loss thats awesome! I lost over 7 my first week and then more the next week as you can see by my signature. It all evens out eventually, with me its a pattern lately, big loss small loss big loss small loss. But if I average it out its over 2 pounds a week! You will do great! And if it's a small loss so what, you are still losing and the next week the scale will catch up! Good luck to you, what a great start!

that's\so cool I hope I lose weight I have my 1st weigh in on WednesdaY. I am really hoping to go back to my teaching job with a lot of this off of me....I am trying to be physically active everyday and thinking of joining curves gym as well. I am doing Bikram yoga at least 1-2 times a week, hiking and trying to just stay very very very active. I want to be done with this I cannot even believe I let myself get like this. Oh well I will keep on going. I am glad to here your first week was a success. I am going for my first weigh in soon and this is encouraging news.

I know how you feel. I lost ten pounds my first week! Which is nuts, but I was also drinking beer almost every night so it was mostly water retention from my over indulgences. I was so nervous for my second weigh in because I thought how could there be anything left to get rid of. Well I lost 2 pounds my second week, which isnt as exciting but great. So today was weigh in number three and I felt like I might not lose anything but I lost 3.4 lbs! 15 pounds in three weeks. As long as your staying on plan and drinking lots of water I have the utmost confidence that you will see a loss! good luck and let us know how it goes.

thanks everyone, I go in tomorrow...only time will tell! haha.. shooting for a 2 lb loss...10 in 2 weeks is fine with me! my goal was 10 by july 10th for a wedding....so yay...still kinda nervous though..so stupid! again though, thanks so much for my responses...however yesterday I had a real non-scale victory...ran for 45 minutes straight at 5.5 on the tread. not bad for a non-runner! smile.gif

keep up the good work everyone!

That's a tremendous loss for a single week - sorry to say, don't get used to it. That's not the way it's gonna be at each WI. But, even if you lose nothing at WI #2, 8.2 lbs. is STILL a great loss for TWO weeks. Goodness knows I never saw that kind of loss (not even 8 lbs in a month.... ever).

Remember, WIs are just a check, not a grade. They often times offer no reflection on how well you've done the previous week. I mean, how often do we hear people vent about all the exercise they did, and how perfectly they stayed on plan, and either lost close to nothing or maybe even gained.

This is not a race, it's not a competition. No question, seeing big losses is exciting and motivating, but we have to also be satisfied with our smaller, unseen achievments, if/when the scale doesn't move to our liking.

welp...down 2.8 lbs...so 10 lbs in 2 weeks...

as for "thats not the way it's gonna be at each WI"...I can keep it at least 2 lbs. a week garanteed with my workouts. and it is healthy to lose more than 2 lbs a week as long as its b/c of your workouts and refeeds, not because of you not eating. with the perfect combination of weight training/cardio and protein your body becomes a fat burning machine. i joined JC to get my head straight and get back at it with proper food intake while im working out. Maybe I wont see an 8 lb loss again, and I dont want that--5 tops...but dont say that there's "no way".

Congratulations. Tomorrow is my first weigh in and i'm hoping for at least 5lbs. I had my period the day after I got weighed so maybe that'll help me lose some extra this week? not sure. What kind of workouts do you do that you lost so much? Just asking b/c I dont like to work out at all but i'm trying to be more active.

Thank you! smile.gif

I had my period during my first weigh in also, so I know thats partially way 8 is high to start! I workout in the morning and in the evening as well most days of the week. I work out all different ways but currently I am spinning mon wed fri, thurs yoga, and some where in there i am lifting 2 days a week only...1 day heavy with typical weight stuff, and then the 2nd more body weight circuits...(think jump rope, pushups, dips, pull ups, boot camp stuff--can be done anywhere) and then at night i usually am running, walking on an incline, or walking straight... a good tip for you to get started is try to never do the same thing you did the day/night before...example: if you ran for a certain time or speed, the next day do interval sprints, then the next day walk at an incline, then the next day run at a consistent speed...or if you lifted heavy, lift differently the next time...just to keep it interesting for yourself, and continue to challenge you body! weekly it usually comes to according to my heart rate monitor, between 2,500-3,000 cals per week...im eating 1,500 per day hence 2-3 lbs a week loss....lots of work, but when im done i feel like a million bucks!

Urbeautiful,

That is awesome! An almost 11lb drop in weight in two weeks!

You and I are sort of on the same boat. My starting weight is 186 and after 8 days, I'm already down 6.4lbs. I work out a lot but just cant get the "Eating and portioning" thing down.

I cant wait for my WInext wednesday (6.24.2009). I cant help but cheat a little with checking. First thing in the a.m., after I have made a tinkle... I weigh myself. It helps remind me that everyday is a new battle and a new start. If im not happy with what I see, I work just a little harder at the gym by adding a couple extra minutes to my workout. biggrin.gif

Congrats on your achievment and keep it going! And to think, you are only in week two and have already hit your mini goal!
