So I heard that you can substitute your JC salad dressings with salsa if you want to use your fat serving for something else (my craving was peanut butter with banana ... yum). So I tried it and it was pretty good. But today, I don't plan on using my fat serving for anything else so I used my regular ol' ranch JC dressing but I still put the salsa in the salad. To my surprise, the salsa mixed in with the dressing and basically created extra dressing with a great taste! It was like a cajun ranch dressing! OMG! I felt like I was cheating because my salad was coated instead of just tipped with the dressing. Mmmm, just thought I'd share the tip.

Oh, the salsa I used was Trader Joe's Pineapple Salsa (medium heat).

Thanks for this post fellow salsa lover. Salsa is freeflowing in my JC dining. I love it, but I had never considered using it as stretcher and flavor enhancer for my salad dressing. FABULOUS! Salsa is also great mixed in breakfast scramble, rotini and meatballs, cheesy enchillada...the list goes on and on.

I keep forgetting to add it to other entrees like the breakfast scamble! I think that's my breakfast tomorrow, definitely using it then. smile.gif

Glad I discovered a yummy addition for others to enjoy!

Isn't it great that way? I've been eating my salad like that all my life!! I also add a little bit of lowfat shredded cheese to it.

Do any of you remember when ChiChi's was around. Their "house" dressing was call Calipso. It was half ranch and half salsa. I make up a fairly large container and keep it in the fridg. I put 1/2 C low fat Ranch and 1/2 C salsa in the food processor to blend it. My husband loves it. I always make a taco salad from the turkey chili. Lettuce, onion, heated turkey chili, a little low fat shredded cheddar, a spoon of low fat sour cream and Calipso dressing. YUM!!
