I recently went shopping at Fashion Bug to try out their Righ Fit jeans since my size 16 Torrid brand jeans were too big (I could pull them on and off without unbuttoning or unzipping them). The sales associate who helped me gave me two types both in size 10 after she measuerd my waist. I was wary seeing has how I havent' been a size ten in almost ten years. But to my shock they fit with room to spare even the size 9 fit!
My question is should I consider myself an official size 10 from this (size 10 being my goal size) even though I'm still 60+ lbs away from my goal weight? Or seeing as how Fashion Bug caters to both Misses and Plus sizes consider these jeans to be larger in size and try some other stores to compare?

I think it's really hard to go by sizes, because sizes vary from store to store (I suspect that the States is similar to Canada in that there are no standardized sizes), and because sizes are getting bigger. Maybe try some other stores to compare, but that's fantastic that they're fitting you now!

I agree. Every brand fits differently. And, even within the same brand, fit varies.
I'm about 5 lbs. from goal and I'm a solid size 10, and can fit into SOME size 8 stuff, but not a lot. You're 50 lbs. from goal, and wearing a size 10? I want to shop where you shop!

I believe the "Right Fit" sizes from both Lane Bryant and Fashion Bug run off their own sizing system. I say this because they said i'm a 7, and I am nooooooo size 7 in the other stores.

yea i agree with everyone, sizes are so different from store to store, it bugs me.
recently i have been really interested in this, and if you go to different websites, for me, i go to
torrid, american eagle, hollister, and Levi's,
and if you click on the jeans, they always have a size chart, that will tell you their sizes as well as the inches that would fit them.
torrid, is bigger than ae, and ae is bigger than hollister. Levi i think is about the same or bigger than torrid. so it all depends on the brand.
if you want to set a size goal, then set it with your fav. kind of jeans.
for me I LOVE american eagle, its all i wore in high school, until i gained all the weight the last two years, and can't fit into any of their sizes anymore....
so my goal is a size 10 AMERICAN EAGLE jean. not just a size 10.
that makes sense right?
