I bought a couple of 3-pound weights. The only weight training experience I have is with the machines at Curves (which I haven't done in a couple of years). Any tips for getting started? How many reps should I be doing and should I work with them daily (or every other day?) Any other advice for a newbie?
Thanks in advance!

I would suggest getting a DVD to workout to, so that you learn proper form and do a more balanced routine to get all muscle groups. You might also want to get some 5 lb. and 8 lb. weights, as you need heavier weights for some exersizes.
I have a DVD called "Tank Top Arms, Bikini Belly, & Boy Shorts Bottom workout", which I really LOVE! It has 4 different workouts, and the gal suggests doing one workout plus the warm up and cool down each day, then taking a day or two of rest. I found it at Target.
I also take a class at the local rec center called 20,20,20... its about half cardio, then we do a bunch of weight training, pilates, yoga, & stretching for the rest of the class. Its usually pretty fun, and a fantastic workout. Maybe you could look for similar classes in your area?
Take care,
