is it possible to go to a party and have a few drinks and go out to dinner without having a bad weigh in the following week? Any tips? I am really worried about this
DanceDiva
Yes it is completely possible. The key is moderation! I am not a social drinker by any means but I have had 1 drink with dinner (maybe once every 3 months) and still weighed in with a loss. Not a big loss, but a loss. As for dining out with friends, I do this often. as a matter of fact, I had lunch with a friend at Red Robin of all places yesterday (their food is so bad, they don't even tell you how many cals are in it!) and weighed in today -1.6 lbs. I even ate all of my fries! I ordered the Whiskey River BBQ chicken wrap. I usually just eat the wrap and the cantalope that comes with it, but yesterday I was craving the fries, so I had them. Of course, I worked out a litle more to counteract my overindulgence. So, my advice is:
1. Order first so you are not persuaded by others to go totally off plan.
2. Order grilled, baked or broiled lean meats and only eat a "JC portion" and take the rest home, or split something with a friend.
3. You can't go wrong with a large garden salad and bringing your own JC salad dressing packets.
4. If you are going to a sports bar type restaurant, consider eating your JC meal before going and snacking on the celery sticks that come with someone's wings.
5. If you are going to drink alcohol, stop at one drink and try to avoid the frozen fruity drinks. They are a oncein a blue moon splurge b/c of cals. Many clients who do drink suggest ordering the alcohol and a diet "mixer" separately so that you know who much alcohol you have had. If you order a vodka and diet tonic, you have no idea who much alcohol is actually used to make your drink. if you get your alcohol served straight up, you can control who much you are drinking.

thanks!! i will try. stopping after 1 drink may be pretty hard
DanceDiva
well just remember that 12 oz. of beer (even light beer) and 5 oz. of wine as well as 1 oz. of liquor are equal to 2 JC fat exchanges. So just keep track and then make sure you burn those calories the next day! smile.gif
WorknIt
Yes, you CAN do these things and still stay within your JC plan!

I just today had my meeting with my Consultant- talked about alcohol. And working it into my plan. I like to have my rum and Diet Coke! And no, I do not have to give it up entirely and stay OP.
Yes- Each 1 ounce rum and (zero cal) diet coke is equal to 2 fats.
And yes- I will plan to delete those two fats from other meal sources- be it breakfast or dessert/snack items. On the day(s) that I plan to have a drink (Fridays & Saturdays definitely).
Although I am not sure about multiple drinks. That would be allot of fats from one day to try to compensate for.
You may want to run all this by your JCC beforehand.
Especially if you can talk by phone before your party day/night. That way you can go, have a plan, have FUN- and not be worried!
