Hi all. My name is Shari and I am back to JC after a while. I am in my 3rd week. I need some buddies who are actually on the computer more than once a week. I am on every day and I haven't had much luck in other rooms. I weigh in every other week because my center is so far away. I ive in Florida, 37, married, no kids. I have decided that this is the year of Shari. I am going to take care of me finally. I am doing well so far. I work with a personal trainner 3 times a week. I am looking for people to chat with who are in the same situation as me. Please write back if you are out there. I am on the computer all the time.

Hi Shari - I'm Heather. I joined JC in January of this year and over the past 2 weeks have started to go on the boards every day because I feel I need more support - I've hit the point where I always start to struggle in my weight loss - 20 pounds down. Don't know what it is but I always seem to go astray when I hit about 20 pounds and I notice it starting to happen this time. Anyway, I am on here a lot!
I'm 38 years old, married with 2 kids. I want to lose about 100 pounds. Congrats on your loss so far!!! Let's keep in touch. You should check out the 28 days to a new habit thread - I can't remember what board it's on. I'll check and get back to you. Anyway, I just started going there this week - it has really helped me to push myself a lot more with exercise. In fact, I'm off right now for my treadmill! I've put myself on the Couch to 5K program that I learned about from a friend in the January joiners thread - I'm on week 2 of this 9 week program & I'm hoping to run a 5K in June! I'm soooo excited about my progress in such a short amount of time - and I have NEVER been a runner!!
Talk to you soon!

Hi Shari - That thread I mentioned it titled "Breaking a Habit (28 days) Start 4/13/09 - 5/10/09" and it's under the Returning Clients thread. The first 28 day challenge is coming to an end soon, but we'll be starting a new one.
Have a great day!

HI Shari!
I'm also on here all the time! This week is kind of funny because I'm visiting my BFs family in Texas..but usually I'm on about 5 times a day lol. I signed up at the beginning of December and my first official WI after one week on the program was on Dec. 16th. I also signed up with the original goal of losing 120 lbs. Here it is 20 weeks later (had my WI on Tuesday) and I'm down 49.6 lbs!!
I WI every week but my center is only about 20 mins away. I live in Illinois and am 24...not married (but a BF of 5 1/2 yrs so sometimes it feels like it haha) and no kids.
I also have a personal trainer but only twice a week. About 2 weeks ago I signed up for Jazzercise...so much fun!!!!
I hope we can be in contact and buddies. I had a rougher April with my WL and could really use one for sure!
I'll try to jump on here as much as possible while I'm out of town but come Sunday evening I'll once again be on all the time!!
Hope to hear from you!! Keep up the great job!

You can do it! you are doing fantastic!
I need to refocus myself for May. April was my worst month so far. But my JCC took new photos of me on Tuesday because I was so disappointed about not hitting 50 lbs and she wanted to show me how big the change really was....it helped tremendously! I'm so motivated again!
Keep it up!

Hi Heather
Hi Beth,
I am so glad you guys responded!
Beth,
You are doing fantastic!! What is your secret that you are losing it so fast?? What do you do for exercise? You are almost to half way! I am so glad you are here. I hope we can buddies on here until we all reach our goals!
Heather,
I know exactly what you are talking about with the 20 lbs. I also get to the 20 pound mark and then seem to falter. I am feeling pretty good now. I am re-committed and doing well. I went to Walmart today because I needed some new workout clothes. My trainer gets on me because I am still wearing my "bigger" clothes but I don't like wearing clothes that are form fitting. (well, not yet anyway, lol) I was able to get into an 18/20 tank top and it wasn't tight! I can't believe it! It has been many years since I have warn that size. Just so you know, I started in a 26/28. Pretty freaking amazing! My hubby is also in JC and he trains as well. We walk at night when it's cooler (we live in South Florida) and we go to the gym together. I am going to New Yorn next month and I really would like to be able to fit in the seat and NOT have to use a seatbelt extender. That would be really nice.
Well, I need to go out and try and save my gardenia plants. I will check back later.
Have a good day ladies and keep the faith. We can do this together!!

Hi Shari,
My name is Cathy. I just joined JC for the 1st time last week., I have about 165 lbs to lose. I am married and have a 12 year old son. I am really enjoying the program so far. At my first weigh in I lost 8.8 lbs. My next weigh in will be on Monday. I wish it could be like that every week but I know that is unrealistic. I'm on the computer each day and I could really use a buddy that can understand what I am going through. Catch up with ya tomorrow

Hi Shari,
I don't know if I really have a secret lol. I usually workout twice a week with a personal trainer for 30 mins and then do a some interval running in has me do about 3 times a week. I just reacently started Jazzercise a couple times a week that is soooo much fun and takes the place of running once in a while.
I can't wait to hit halfway...my goal is to hit halfway by the end of May. Right now is exciting because I'm very very close to 50 lbs lost, then I'll hit halfway at about 10 more lbs and then about 10 lbs after that I'll hit onederland....so right now is exciting lol
I hope everything is going well for you this week! I'm still in Texas visiting my BFs family but I've been on plan 100% since I got here...so YAY ME!!

Hello everyone.
Welcome Cathy!! There are 4 of us in here so far and everyojne is really nice. 8.8 for your first week is fantastic!! Keep up the good work!! It definately helps knowing that I have a few buddies on the computer who are waiting to see how I have done everyday. It keeps you motivated for the day and when you get home and get to report that you stayed on plan, it's really nice to hear the praises. I look forward to sharing our journey with you. We can do it!! We are worth it!!
Beth- congrats for being able to stick on plan while you are not at home. I always have the best intentions and then I never stay on plan. I swear sometimes I am afraid to leave the house because I feel like if I do, I will go off plan. I know if I saty home I will stay on plan. Makes for very dull weekends, lol. Yes, you are on a very exciting part of your journey. I have a loooonnnngggg way to go to onderland but I will get there eventually. I am really glad you are here and we get to be there for you when you hit your goals. It is inspiration for all of us.
How are you doing today Heather??
Well, I have something to report. I was able to run on the treadmill for 3 minutes today!! Ok, I know it's only 3 minutes but let me tell you why this is such a great accompolishment....
I borke my ankle this past September. I had surgery and have a plate and 7 screws inmy ankle. I was off it for 6 weeks. Well, because of that, I developed a blood clot behind my knee. I did not know this and flew to Colorado in November for my friend's 40th b-day party. When we got home I was noticing that the back of my knee was hurting really badly. I chalked itup to the fact that I haven't walked on it in weeks and continue to try and walk. Well, a couple days after that I noticed I had a heavy feeling in my chest. Kinda like when you have the flu and feel like there is an elephant onyour chest, only I didn't have any other flu symptoms. I called my Doctor and talked to the nurse who told me to go to the ER and get checked out. Turns out that part of the clot had broken off and had reached both my lungs. To make a long story short, I am lucky to be alive....it scared the crap out of me enough to change my life for good. It has been a long road with my ankle but I was able to run today without any pain. And just so you know, it hurts with every step I take still. So, big moment for me because I can now do 1 minute runs in my walking routine. whoo hoo!!
Well, I am going to go for now. I will check back later. I am thinking I might go to the casino, we'll see.
Bye all
Sorry I did not check in yesterday - I had a crazy busy day & was not at the computer once.
Wow, Shari, you are AMAZING!! It's awesome how fast you have come from the terrible-sound break & the life-threatening blood clot. You were soooo smart for calling your doc & going to the ER! I would have thought your run was impressive even without all of the health struggles you've had in the past months! Congrats on going for three minutes!!!!! Last week I was able to go for 4 minutes straight and this week I went for 10 mins straight!!! I know what you mean though - some may not find that too much of a big deal but for ME it's AWESOME!!!! I've been doing the Couch to 5k running program (I think I mentioned that before). It's a nine week running program that helps you build up your speed and endurance. I have finished week 2 and will start the week 3 workouts today. Starting running has helped me tremendously - it has made me actually look forward tomy workouts because I can't wait to find out what I can push myself to accomplish. It has also boosted my self-esteem - completing the workouts gives me such a great feeling because I never, ever thought I would be a runner. Finally, I think it's going to really help me on the scale! I have my wi later this morning, so we'll see how I have done after working out hard EVERY day this past week. I'll let you all know how it goes.
Beth - GREAT JOB on staying on program while away! That is amazing! You are inspiring to me - if you can do it while away & visiting family (which I was not able to do recently - hence my gain last week) then I can do it at home!!!
Welcome Cathy! You first week's accomplishment was wonderful!! This is just the beginning!! Congrats!

Shari - Congrats on getting into the 18/20 top!!! I have yet to really go down a size, so I am sooo looking forward to that! It's nice you are doing this with your husband. My husband does not need to do it (lucky him) BUT he does weigh a LOT more than when we dated & got married 15 years ago. He was a SUPER skinny 22 year old when we were married. I remember looking at his father's belly years ago and thinking that my husband's belly will probably never get that big. Well guess what? At 38 years old he has the start of a belly!! It's shocking to see on him. He's smart though - when he feels his pants getting too tight he gets back on the treadmill & watches what he eats until the pants fit better again. I can't wait to be there!!! Of course, I hope I will be a regular exerciser for the rest of my life, so I don't think I'll be doing "emergency treadmill runs."

Have a great day everyone!

Hey all! So far so good...they had some neighbors over last night and there was lots of food. I stuck to the fruit!!! We had fajitas..mine was mostly lettuce, tomato, onion, green pepper, salsa...lol
A real test comes tonight...we start driving back home. On the way out here we drove straight through...20 hrs
Only gas and potty breaks. We do have a cooler so I made sure I had baggies of carrots, broccoli, grapes, and apples for the trip
Well have to make this quick..gotta pack some stuff up and make sure everything is set to start driving home tonight...hope everyone is having a great week!!!

Hi, Sharri, I'm Cathy. I joined in April with 103.2 to lose. I come on line monst evenings to rate the food & post. I hope to talk to you again soon. I just discovered this topic & it's almost bedtime for me.
Hi everyone! Welcome to catgirl Cathy! Funny we have a catgirl Cathy & a catmarc Cathy here on this thread!

Beth - you're so smart for bringing your cooler on that long car ride! We drove 10 hours a few weeks ago and I brought a jenny lunch for on the road, but did not bring any snacks. I was starving! I've learned my lesson for the next time. Have a safe trip home!
Just a quick check in before bed. I lost 1.4 at my wi today. I was sooo happy b/c I stupidly got on my scale at home before my wi and I thought I had not lost anything. I was pissed b/c I had worked out EVERY day last week!!! Well, turned out I had lost after all! Thanks goodness! Today I did day 9 of my every day exercise challenge - and I did not get my workout in until 10:30pm! I'm sooooo proud of myself for doing it so late instead of falling into bed after such a busy day.
Well, I'm going to fall into bed now. Keep up the good work everyone!!!

Hi everyone,
I hope you don't mind one more in the group. My name is Kelly and I'm from Long Island, NY. I'm married with no kids and just turned 40 in February. My goal is to lose 120 pounds, and I just had my fifth WI has so far have lost 14.5 lbs, and 12". I am on the boards at least three times a week, depending on where I am working during the week (I am an auditor and are at client locations every week). I sometimes feel really motivated and sometimes not so much, so I would really like to be a part of a group of people who are generally in the same boat as me, trying to lose more than 100 lbs, so we can help each other out and take the help when we need it. Thanks for letting ramble...
-Kelly
Hi Kelly! Welcome! I'm with you - sometimes I feel 100% committed & then an hour later I may find myself at McDonald's! What's up with that?!?!? It has been helping me to be on these boards, so let's help each other get through this!
Hi Shari, Beth, Cathy & Cathy! Hope you are all having a great weekend. My DH just took my 3 year old DS to a museum, my DD's friend is coming over to play, so I think I will have a quiet afternoon - as long as those 2 girls don't argue!

My plan is to fold laundry, but I may end up watching tv or straightening up my stamping room. I already worked out today, so that's done! Yipee!!

Later!

Well I'm making this a quick one..I just walked in from a 20+ hour drive home and I'm still not actually even home yet. I decided I'm staying at my Bfs tonight and finishing the last hour and a half tomorrow morning. TOOOOOOO tired now!! lol
Well just writing to say the car ride home was a success! We stopped for subway last night for dinner..i had a subway club salad..yum yum!! Then this morning we stopped at McDonalds for breakfast but I had my dining out guide in my purse so egg mcmuffin it was for me!!
Had lots of water, grapes, and carrots in the car lol
I wa also thinking ahead and left a spaghetti and meatballs and a popcorn here at my BFs just in case I decide to stay tonight. So now I still have dinner and my JC snack waiting for me tonight. I'm starting to get a hang of this planning ahead thing

Hope everyone is having a great week! I guess I'll see how well of a week I had come Tuesday! I'm excited but nervous at the same time
Talk to you all soon but now its time for me to get a nap in.

Hey all...
Ok, I was on here earlier and was almost finished posting and my computer froze. I got so mad I had to walk away. So, here I am again...
catgirl- Welcome! The more the merrier!! Tell us about yourself.
Heather- CONGRATS on the 1.4 lost!! I know the scale at home sometimes sabatoges us!! I love to find out I actually lost when I thought I had gained. My last weigh in, I thought I was going to gain because I had been eating crap and even had Olive GFarden the night before weigh in (BIG NONO). Well, I was all set for a gain and I actually lost 3 pounds (2 weeks). I was relieved and it actually motivated me more. I guess the weight training is leveling it out some.
Kelly- Welcome!! Wow 14.5 pounds in 5 weeks!! That's alomst 3 pounds a week, that's fantastic! Keep up the good work. I am actually back in school to learn accounting. Auditing is one of the areas I am interested in. Cool. I will also be on Long Island in a few weeks! I am looking forward to my trip to NY. Feel free to ramble away... that's what we are here for.
Beth- Good job on the planning. I plan but then sometimes I ruin it. I have to get out of that habit. Glad your trip went well and you are (almost) home safely.
OK, as for me, the day started ok then I went to the movies and had movie popcorn and chocolate. Why do I do that?? I know I am going to feel like crap afterwards. I hate that. Well, the good thing is I was just sitting around and my friend called me up and drug me to the gym so I feel like I made up for some of it and of course I feel better. So, when is everyone's weigh in day?? I weigh in every other Wednesday. I go this Wednesday and I am hoping for 6 pounds. I am trying to lose 3 pounds a week. That would be lovely. I think I am going to make a list of all the reasons why I want to get healthy and keep it with me all the time. That way when I want to cheat, I will just take it out and read it. Here are some of my reasons...
1. I would love to be able to wear pretty dresses, you know something with color and not black. (ok, 1 little black dress allowed!!)
2. I want to be able to fly to London without having to ask for a seatbelt extender.
3. I would like to be able to walk in public and not feel like everyone is staring at me.
Well, those are just a few. I wish everyone a good night and I will talk to you all tomorrow. Keep the faith ladies!!

Finally made it the rest of the way home this morning (only an hour and a half from my bfs to my house). Now I just have to fully catch up on the sleep I lost :/
I'm thinking I'm going to head to bed waaaaaay early tonight lol so I'll check back in after my WI tomorrow. As long as it isn't a gain for the week being gone then I'll consider it a success!!
Talk to you all tomorrow ...have a great night!
Beth
Hi all -
I have been super busy, sorry to be gone for a day!
Shari, Congrats on your loss!!! Awesome!!!!! I weigh in on Saturdays. I like that day b/c then I can relax a little the rest of the day. I know some say you should not give yourself a "day off" but I think it helps me to focus the rest of the week. I'm ok with the fact that it may make my weight loss slower. I don't really take the whole day off - just dinner really. My husband loves to cook on the weekends so it's a great deal!

Today was ROUGH for me with exercise but I did it!!! Thanks god. I was 10 days in on my exercise every day challenge and I did not want to blow it on day 11!
Oh Shari, I love your idea of making a list of reasons to lose weight. I started a thread a while back on the 100+ boards titled "What are you looking forward to?" and it got a lot of responses - very motivating!! You all should check it out. Here are a few of mine. I'm looking forward to: weighing less than my 6'1" husband (I'm 5'2"!!); shopping somewhere other than Lane Bryant; looking forward to going to the pool!
Gotta get to bed.
G'nite ladies! Keep up the good work!!!
Heather
Beth, I missed your post b/c I hit reply before realizing our thread had gone to a second page. Glad you got home safely. GOOD LUCK tomorrow at your wi. You'll be doing GREAT no matter what the scale says!!!

Hi everyone,
I'm working from home today, so I actually have a few minutes to post. Hope everything is going well.
Shari, are you coming to NY for vacation, business, or do you have family here? Hopefully you will be able to get some good weather, because it's been raining and cold here for the last week. It's horrible! I like to walk to the beach by me, but it's been raining so long, I haven't been able to go out. London is also an amazing place. I had a great time when I went a few years ago (although I was there for work most of the week, my husband flew in and we made it a long weekend). That's great that you are going back to school. Accounting is a good field to get into, especially auditing, given the current economy. If I can answer any questions about the field, let me know.
Heather, thanks for the welcome! I didn't realize you started that other post about what you were looking forward to. That was a good thread; a lot of people added to that thread too-Very Popular!
Beth, hope your WI was a successful one! You have some great numbers so far, you've done so well, if I get bummed out, I'll just look at your progress.
Have a great day!
-Kelly
Hi everyone,
Beth CONGRATS on your loss!! Made extra sweet by the fact that you were away! You are awesome!
Kelly, when are you going to Greece?
I am having a bit of a hard time today with eating. Don't know why - I don't have any of the usual things going on that push me into eating poorly - like stress or boredom. I have not gone CRAZY but I have strayed from the plan a bit. I did get my run in today but it was harder than usual. At least it's done for the day though.
I'm off to pick up my daughter. Have a great day everyone!

Hello all!!
Beth- Congrats on your weight loss!!! Over 50 pounds is awesome! It must feel really good. You should be proud of yourself. You are so close to onederland, I am so excited for you. Keep up the great work!
Heather- I agree with you, I would also like to weigh less than my husband. Somedays I feel like such a linebacker it would feel nice to feel petite and womanly for once. Don't stress over not staying 100% on plan today, we all have those days and sometimes you need them. You get rid of your craving and get right back on plan the next day. The fact that you exercised is good. If you had said that you went off plan and sat around all day, well, that would be one thing but exercising makes it not so bad. In the words of one of my favorite movies of all time "After all, tomorrow is another day!" LOVE LOVE LOVE Gone with the Wind!
Kelly- We are going to NYC for vacations and my husband's father lives in New Rochelle, so we are there for the family thing also. My sister and her husband are coming also and we are going to stay in the city for 3 days and then drive to Utica to visit my aunt. Then we are going to spend one day in Niagra Falls and then 3 in Syracuse with my cousin and her husband. LOTS of driving but it will be nice to get away. Ok, don't freak out when I say this but I actually hope it's chilly to cold up there. I can do without the rain but I am actually looking forward to the colder weather. When you live in South Florida, believe it or not, you do get sick of perfect weather all the time. I know that sounds crazy but it's true. I love it when it gets overcast here (maybe 3 times a year). I know, I am nuts. When we go to London we are staying there 3 days and then we are actually taking a cruise around the British Isles. I am so looking forward to that.
Ok, well I was good today. I didn't want to be but I was. I am really tired form my marathon cardio yesterday so I just walked a mile with my hubby and neighbor. I thought I WI tomorrow but it turns out I go on Friday so I have a couple more days to burn baby, burn!
What happened to our 2 Cathy's? Come back Cathy's!! he he he
I will check in tomorrow morning.

Hey all,
Today was tiring. I am getting ready to go to bed, finally. I have 2 online classes this semester and they keep me busy with everything else. Saw the DR today, blood pressure is great and I will be coming off my medication when I get back from NY. Whoo hoo! I am so glad it's almost over.
I did my weight training today and did a half hour on the bike. I am tired but my WI is Friday morning and I really, really, really want those 6 pounds! Only tomorrow left.
Hope everyone is doing well.

Good Morning, Ladies!
I missed this thread and then found it on the weekend but was too sick to spend any amount of time on the computer. I would love to join in to your support group as I am also on the computer ALL DAY! I love these boards.
My background:
I am going to be 31 this month (21st) and have been married for almost 5 years. I have a son who will be 2 in July (Oh My) and moved to Ontario (Canada) from British Columbia last year to be closer to my family after my son's birth.
I have been overweight most of my adult life and joined Jenny Craig in July of 2006. It went great and I was at about 30lbs lost when I found out I was pregnant (surprise!). I quickly gained back all of my lost weight and an additional 20lbs for good comfort. After giving birth, I assumed that I would lose it all in a heartbeat and instead, suffered from post-partum depression and ate my way through it - gaining another 10-15lbs to reach my all-time high of 261lbs. That brings me to this February (20th) and the start of my new Jenny journey. I called and went for a consult THAT DAY... started fresh the next morning and haven't looked back since. I am proud to say that this is easier than I thought it would be and I am down 27.8lbs after only 10 SHORT weeks. My goal is to be down 30lbs for my birthday and I think that is very attainable.
So, with that out on the table, I hope that you will have me as part of your little group... I think together, we can keep eachother focused and work our way to SKINNY MINNIES!!
I plan to start the Couch-to-5k this weekend... I am still working on getting the last of this cold gone and then will give it a go. Does not look horribly challenging for the first week so I am hoping to be able to do it no problems.
Anyways, have a great OP day and I will check back later!

Shari, If I lived in South Florida I would LOVE to get into some cold weather!!! I totally hear you! Sounds like a very busy trip - hope it's a great one!!
Welcome Lindsay! I'm glad to hear that someone else is doing the couch to 5k. I'm at the end of the third week. Week three has been TOUGH!! I'm wondering if part of the reason it's tough is that I've been working out every day (not the C25K every day, but other workouts) and my trainer friend warned me yesterday that I should not be working out every day - that our bodies need a break & working out every day can impede training progress. So, yesterday I did 20 mins of pilates instead of the treadmill. Today's C25K workout was easier. It was still tough, but not as bad. I also held back a bit on the speed of the jogging interval. I was trying to go at the speed necessary to run the # of yards in the program (4.6 mph) but it was just too tough. I had to back off a bit. I was disappointed in myself at first, but I'm new at this, so I have to be ok with building up my speed gradually. So, today, my jogging intervals were between 4.0 and 4.5mph. I'd LOVE to be able to do a 5k in under 45 minutes (I'm doing my first on June 20th) but if I don't I'm still going to be PSYCHED about completing my first 5k!!!

Have a great day everyone!!

Hello everyone!
Lindsay- Welcome, of course you can join us. 27.8 pounds in 10 weeks is awesome, almost 3 pounds a week. That is what I am shooting for. I only WI every other week cause my center is too far away. I actually go tomorrow so I am hoping for a 6. Please let me get a 6! Anyway, keep up the good work!
Heather- Helllo there. I also got to the point once where I was working out too much. I would tell myself that I would give myself one day off and then that day would come and I would feel guilty because I wasn't working out. Or, I wouldn't lose all I wanted on WI day and of course it would be because of my day off, so I don't take a day off anymore. My trainer says that you should do hard cardio every other day and light in between. Like walking. I kinda listen to my body also. Like today, I didn't sleep that well last night and I wanted to go work out but I am do darned tired so I took off. I hope I am doing the right thing with my WI tomorrow. But I also know that I WI badly when I don't get a good night's sleep the night before.
Well ladies, I am going to go hit the hay. I have to be up by 7am and I am not a morning person at all!!
Have a good day and I will let you know how my WI goes.

Hi All,
You guys are killing me!!

It's been cold and rainy for eight days straight in NY; we need some good weather-please!! I can understand you want different weather, so can we compromise??
Shari--Good luck on your WI tomorrow. I'm sure you'll be fine. Your cruise sounds so great. I bet you are looking forward to it.
Heather--What's the Couch to 5K? It's sounds like a great goal to achieve. I'm going to Greece in two weeks, and I can't wait!
Lindsay--Welcome to the group! Your numbers are great. Keep up the good work!!
Beth--Congrats on your 50 lb. loss!! That's fantastic.
As for me, I took the day off from working out. It was a rough day. People just don't like auditors, and they don't hide it either. My WI is Sat. morning, so I'll get some in tomorrow.
Have a great day!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!
Shari - good luck on your WI today - I hope you get the numbers that you are looking for.
Kajay - the Couch to 5K is a great 'learn-to-run' program (see link below)
Couch to 5k (C25K)Have fun in Greece - how exciting! It looks like you are well on your way to meeting your Greece weight-loss goal! Congratulations!
Heather - I am looking forward to starting the C25K and hoping that you will be able to help me with any pointers that I may need! Keep up the great work with all of your work-outs, you really are rockin' it!
As for me, my hockey team lost last night (Vancouver Canucks) so I am a little depressed today. Not to worry, they will bounce back tomorrow night. I also have my 11-week weigh-in tomorrow morning and am, as always, looking forward to it. I love the start of a new week (weight week), getting all that new food and setting up the plan for the week. Sounds like such an odd thing to get excited about, but I figure this must mean that I am still really gung ho about losing this weight and to me, that is NOT a problem at all!
Question to everyone - Do you have caffinated beverages (tea, coffee, diet coke/pepsi) throughout the week? I am terrified of having these. I don't know if it is just my mentality or if there is something else there - I keep thinking that it will hinder my weight loss efforts and that kind of scares me. I normally don't need the big caffiene hit anyways, but on days like today when my son decided that 5:00am was a perfectly acceptable get-up time, I could really use a little pick me up. Mostly, though, I stick to diet, caffiene free pops (minimal) and water. Just curious as to what everyone else does.
Anyways, have a great OP day and I will check back later!

The scale hates me. I have done everything right. I stayed on plan, I would say 95%. I worked out a lot, and I mean a lot. I go to WI today and I only lose 1.2 pounds. 1.2 pounds for 2 weeks!!!! Can you believe that??? I am so upset I can't even write anymore. I will try later.

Dont get discouraged...I do have a question though. You said you worked out a lot...how much is a lot? What calorie level are you on? Was TOM in there anywhere or is it coming up very very soon?
Okay I guess it was a few questions
Just think...you are 1.2 lbs lighter...I know you probably wanted to see more..shoot we all want to see more lol
I would love to go in on Tuesday and see a 69.2 lb loss, be at goal, and just maintain...but yeah we all know thats not going to happen lol But one can dream.
Don;t get down on what didn't happen but celebrate what did....you were on plan, you did you exercise, and you didn't gain. The scale WILL come...just probably not at the pace you hope for.
Keep it up!!

Hi Ladies!
I'd love some support buddies. I just rejoined JC last Tuesday. It's my 4th time and I've been successful before and know I can do it again. I lost 5.8 lbs my first WI and am super excited and motivated. I'm 30 years old, separated from my husband for about a year and heading for divorce. That's what caused me to gain back the 25 lbs I lost a year and a half ago. I have no children...thank goodness. And I started with 103 lbs to lose.
Ok, that's a little summary about me...ttyl

Aw Sheri - I am sorry that the scale wasn't as good to you as you were hoping, but it still showed a 1.2lbs loss and that is awesome work! You are now 1.2lbs closer to your goal weight!!

I also wondered what your calorie level was and did you guesstimate your workouts correctly when you initially joined? It could very well be that you are not eating enough for the amount of exercise that you are getting.
Shrinkmeplease - welcome aboard!! We have very similar weight loss goals. I am hoping to lose 106lbs total (likely about 5 or 10 more once I get there). Sorry to hear about your marital problems and I hope you can come to some closure about it soon and move on in a very healthy (both mental and pysical) way!

Where is everybody???

Hey there! My name is Charlene, hope I can join too. I started 2 weeks ago at 296. My goal
with JC is 150 so I have ALOT to lose. If I actually get down to 150 who knows, I may try
for 130 (whats another 20 pound if I actually lose 146?). I lost 60 pounds about 10 years ago,
but got tired of eating just JC. Best of luck to everyone. I am 42, divorced with 2 boys ages 9 and 12.
I want to lose so I can fly comfortably without extenders! So I won't have to take BP meds and so I can
live to see my grandchildren. One discouraging thing - I saw a show tonight about a woman who
had to have plastic surgery after gastric bypass - and I am worried about having all the sagging skin at
the end of the journey. Does this happen to everyone who has to lose over 100 pounds?
Hi everyone!
Shari!!! I totally understand why you are discouraged but don't let it derail you. But remember - It's still a loss even though it was smaller than you had hoped. I am REALLY tring not to focus so much on the scale and more on other goals, like working out & inches lost and trying to look at the big picture instead of each week as it's own "failure" or "success." Believe me, I know this is SO HARD to do, but it's so important. If you pick yourself back up now and keep going, next year when you are 100+ pounds less will it really matter that you lost less weight than you hoped on May 8th 2009? No way - it will not matter ONE BIT!!! But, if you get derailed you may be right back here a whole year from now. You can do it!!! Don't let the scale mess with you. I agree with what some others have said today - that maybe you are not eating enough for the amount of exercising you are doing. If your body is not getting enough fuel it will hold onto the weight. Smart little bugger your body is!

My JCC told me to try eating an egg before or after I work out - she said this because I was STARVING that week even after eating all my Jenny food & extras. Just know that I believe in you - hang in there and you will have better weeks ahead - promise!!!!
Hi Charlene & shrink me - welcome to this great group!

I hope we can be support for you as you go along this crazy journey!

Charlene, one thing that I have heard about the flabby skin is that it is much less likely to happen if you incorporate regular strength training into your workout plan.
Lindsay - I found an awesome resource today on the Cool Running site. If you have not seen it already, check out the Newbie Runner Cafe. Here's the link:
http://community.active.com/community/cool...iew=discussions There is a thread called "Spring Starters" for people who are doing the C25K program. There are TONS of people on there and even though I've only read a few posts I already know it's going to be a great resource. As for the caffiene, I have one cup of coffee most every morning - not decaf. I drink diet coke once in a while - maybe 3-4 times per week. So, I don't get very much caffiene but I really like it in the morning.
Kajay - You should check out the link Lindsay posted for C25K and the link I posted above if you are interested in kicking up your workouts with running. Don't know if you are a runner, but I NEVER thought I'd be one & I am loving it!
Hey Beth!!
I weigh in tomorrow morning you guys, so I'll check in to let you know how it went.

Good Saturday Morning, Everyone!!

It is thundering here right now - looks like the first stormy weekend we will be having this season - normally I love them, but I was hoping to go for a walk with my son today as my husband is working all day. Boo! Maybe the rain will let up soon and we will still be able to get out of the house.
Today was my WI and I was down another 2lbs!!

That make my new 11-SHORT-week total 29.8lbs. My current goal is to be down 30lbs by my birthday (May 21st) and it looks like that should be in the bag. For my birthday, I have decided that I am going to have my first off-plan treat - a small DQ blizzard. I crave ice cream and thought that having something on my birthday wouldn't be all that bad... right?!?
Heather - good luck at your WI today!

Welcome Charlene - congratulations on re-starting your Jenny journey! I also have over 100lbs to lose and I think that if you lose it slowly and exercise while doing it, that there shouldn't be too much problem with loose skin. Now, I have never lost this much weight, so don't take me at 100%, but I think that will Gastric Bypass, you lose REALLY fast and without any exercise, so the loose skin makes sense! Good Luck!!
Have a great OP day everyone! Check back later!
Lindsay
Shari, I hope you are doing ok. Come back!! Don't give up!!! {{{hugs}}}
Hi Lindsay, congrats on your 2 pound loss this week!! You are doing great!!! I'm going to have to work hard to catch up to you.

You started about a month AFTER me and you're about 9 or 10 pounds ahead of me! You're giving me inspiration to work harder staying OP. I'm doing great with exercise but my losses are slower because I am not staying 100% OP. I have to do better in that area. Thanks for the push!

I was down 1.2 at my wi this week. Yeah!

My hubby took the kids to a National Train Day event in DC so that I could have the day to MYSELF!! It feels great. I went to a running shoe store and was fitted and bought myself a good pair of running shoes. I'm soooo glad I could go there without the kiddies b/c there were signs all over the place about reining in your kids. I think I would have been kicked out if they were with me.
OK, I am off to break in my new running shoes!
Heather
Oh, I have been having trouble with ticker factory. Posting here to check my main goal ticker.

Heather - I am on the lookout for new running shoes and thinking Asics... what did you get?
Congratulations on your loss! You are rockin' it!

Lindsay
Hi Lindsay,
I got a pair made by Brooks called Dyad. I went to a running shoe store that was recommended by a number of friends who run. The staff there actually watches you walk to determine which type of shoe would work best for you. It depends on the shape of your foot and how you walk - whether your foot tilts in, out, or neutral and how high your arch is. I learned a lot about how a sneaker should fit. If you are going to run, I would highly recommend finding a store in your area like this. I went to RNJ sports, but I don't know if it's a national store. (I live in a DC suburb in Maryland) Fleet Feet Sports is another one. I con't remember if I posted this here already, but a great new runners resource that I found this week is on the Active Community website. Here's the link to the Newbie Runner Cafe -
http://community.active.com/community/cool...iew=discussions I'm sure you could get ideas about other running shoe retailers from this site if you need more info. I think the other brands the guy chose for me to try on were New Balance and something else - I don't remember!

Good luck!
I did the C25K week 4 day 1 today. Week 4 consists of a 3 minute run, a 90 second walk, a 5 minute run, a 2 min 30 sec walk, 3 min run, 90 sec walk, and another 5 min run. It was tough!!!! I have to say that the Black Eyed Peas song Pump It Up really helped get me through the first 5 minute interval. If you have not heard it, check it out!! The beat really helped keep me going!!!
Gotta go - my family is shooing me upstairs so that they can wrap mother's day gifts!

Thanks for the tip on the shoes, Heather. I am going to have to ask my mom about any stores in the area. I used to go to the New Balance store when I lived in BC, but they don't have one here and I have no idea where to go. My shoes should be fine to start off in, so I will wait a bit - maybe a 50lb weight loss goal for myself - a little reward!
I am so peeved at the weather here today... I was all jazzed up to get out and about and instead ended up doing some cleaning and snoozing... it rained, thundered, and was windy ALL DAY long! YUCK! I hope tomorrow is better because I am getting out to run come h3ll or high water - no pun intended!!

Anyways, I am off to watch the Vancouver Canucks hopefully demolish the Chicago Blackhawks... have a great night!

So I'm kind of nervous about tomorrow. With Mother's day and all I'm going to my Mom's house. We're grilling out but I'm taking my turkey burger to throw on the grill and then my mom said she made sugar free jello, bought a bunch of fruit, and has a veggie tray. She even called me today about sugar free/fat free ice cream so that I would have some type of dessert with everyone else. WHich was reallllly nice of her to call ahead of time so I make sure I work it into tomorrow menu plan.
Now that I'm typing this out I'm really not sure why I'm so nervous haha. Throughout her entire planning of the food for the cookout she has asked me if I could have different things and based a lot of the food around that.
Well thanks for listening (watching) me ramble lol...but I feel better now

Hope everyone has a great Mother's Day!

Hi everyone,
Hope you are all having a good mother's day! I had my WI yesterday and I lost 5lbs.! This is the highest weekly loss since I started, so I'm pretty happy. I even had two MOMO dinners and four lunches. This makes up for the 1lb. loss last week.
Anyway, today is going to be a little rough b/c I'm taking my mom to brunch and I have to go to my sister-in-law's for a BBQ. Nobody knows I'm on JC, so it will be interesting to see what happens. Fingers crossed for me and everyone who is facing the same thing today.
Heather & Lindsay-Thanks for the info on the Couch to 5K. I haven't looked at it yet, but I'm really interested in actually starting to jog and run, so I'm looking forward to learning more about it.
Shari-Don't be discouraged at all. Some weeks are going to be better than others, but you still lost, which is an accomplishment. I had the same problem losing 1.6 lbs, and then 1lb. and my JCC told me that if you lose more than 2 or 3 lbs, then it's partially water weight, but if you are consistent about losing 1-2 lbs, it probably all or mostly fat, so it's definitely a good thing.
Welcome to all the other new members of the group. We are getting very popular!
Have a good day!

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mommies on this thread! I hope you are all having a nice and relaxing day. Currently, I am listening to my son cry in protest of nap time - not a great time being had, but as soon as he is asleep, I am off to read my book.
Kajay - congratulations on your loss - 5lbs is awesome!!

Good luck at the BBQ today! I usually bring along my turkey burger, but if no one knows that might be tricky!
Beth - it sure sounds like your mom is really supporting your weight-loss journey! That is great. I hope that you have a successful afternoon!
Have a great OP day, everyone! Check in later!!

WOW, pretty quiet in here today! The website seems really slow to me today, but that could also just be my crappy work computer... who knows.
Well, it looks like the weather is great today so all is a-go for starting the C25K today. Assuming my hubby gets home at a decent hour, otherwise I will just go for a walk with my son... can't very well run with a stroller - or at least, I can't!
I made a bunch of positive affirmation cards today... something that I will put in my purse to pull out if I am ever in doubt of my journey. So, if anyone has any great inspirational quotes, please pass them on as I would love to add more!
Shari - I have noticed that you haven't checked in for a while, I hope you are doing okay!
Better get back to work, almost quittin' time!
Have a great OP day! Check in later!

Yesterday afternoon when FANTASTIC!! My stepdad cooked my turkey burger on the grill for me and then my Mom also had strawberries with fat free cool whip, Fat free jello with pineapple and strawberries, veggie tray, and Fat free chocolate brownie ice cream for dessert....YUMMMMMMY!!!
I also finally brought my bike from their house over to my house ( I moved a yr and a half ago but still havent gotten everything out of the house lol). So yesterday I decided it was time for the bike to make its way over since the weather is getting soooo nice. I also found online a new forest preserve park area with trails surrounding some lakes that they opened last Augest about 2 mins from my house...so tomorrow I'm going to head over there and see how it is. It could become my new bike riding area

Hope everyone is having a great week! I'm feeling realllly good about my WI tomorrow. Not as nervous as I am every other Monday.
Have a great Day! and Week!!
