I read in my manual that you won't increase muscle therefore gain weight if you use lighter weights to begin with and more reps. I started last night but the lightest weights I have are 3lbs., should I buy 1 pounders to being with?? Any advice greatly appreciated!

Don't waste your money on 1 lb weights. 3 lbs is not bad to start off with.

Seconding that one lb weights won't do anything. If anything, you should be doing higher weights at lower reps. Any resistance/weight training is going to increase muscle mass, which is what you want.

I've learned that the protein levels on Jenny are really too low to support much muscle gain in women. My consultant and trainer have both indicated that in order to gain some muscle, I'm to add lean protein in addition to my Jenny planned meals. So I'm now on a 1500 cal plan PLUS I add 200 cal of protein a day (shakes). I wouldn't do this yourself though until you're working out for awhile with much more weight.

I have to second this - JC seems to be about 60 carb-20 protein-20 fat. Most guys I know aim for about 40-40-20 instead, so I've been choosing the higher protein options, and when I do MOMO, it's always something higher protein. I'm still fiddling with it a bit to try and up my protein levels on the JC program.
