I'm looking for a healthy/free appetizer to serve for a party? Any ideas or suggestions?

I made this for my birthday party and it was a huge hit with everyone...

Sugar Plum tomatoes (small grape tomatoes work just fine)
Sliced Persian cumcumbers

Spear a toothpick through the tomato top to bottom, then through the middle of a fairly thick slice of cucumber. Go all the way through the cuc so it's secure. Lay skewers on their sides. Sprinkle lightly with coarse sea salt.

I bought the produce at Trader Joe's. The Persian cucs are particularly small... look like dill pickles... only slightly bigger around than the little tomatoes. They also have a mild flavor and the skins aren't bitter.

These are totally free veggies, so party or not, eat up! When I make them for myself as a snack, I skip the toothpicks. They transport well and make great hand-to-mouth repetitive munchies. They're also pretty!

I would suggest steaming several artichokes! Those are always a hit and they are in season!

Hummus (lots of flavors available- usually in deli area of your local grocery- or just ask).
It is NOT free/unlimited. But a healthier alternative to regular dips.

Serve it along with "dip size" cut veggies. You could also have Low fat/FF dressing served alongside too.

BLT layer dip is great served with or without small crackers or flatbread/pits wedges:
Shredded & chopped finely- iceberg lettuce.
1 Cup of Light Mayo- mixed with 1/2 jar of Bacos (bacon bits) and 2-3 (depending on size)finely chopped tomatoes.
Refrigerate mixture for a couple hours to let the flavors meld.
Top the shredded lettuce with the mixture. Folks can "dig at it" with crackers- or eat alone.
Again -it's not FREE. But an idea for alternative.
