So ... I had my first JC weigh in yesterday.

I was REALLY confident because on Saturday my Wii Fit said I was down 2.2 pounds ... and I followed the program to a T.

So I'm all pumped up and I go to my weigh-in ...... and what did I lose?!?! -.8!!!!!

Huh?!?! What?!?!?!

So now I'm really, really bummed out sad.gif

I have a few things going against me: I'm due to get my period either last this week or early next week so I may be retaining water. Plus I think I sabotaged my own weigh-in by drinking too much water allllllll day yesterday before my weigh-in.

Is there a time limit before my weigh-in when I should stop consuming liquids?!?!?

This morning I looked at the scale just to see what it said and it said I lost 5 pounds! Thats a big difference?!?!?!

HELP!!!!!!!!

I am feeling quote defeated at the moment sad.gif

I know it's disappointing, especially on your first weigh in. Try to keep the big picture in mind though. Your body doesn't know what day you weigh in on. It fluctuates quite a bit from day to day and week to week regardless of weight loss efforts. You just caught it on a bad day.

Just because that's the number your consultant wrote down in your file doesn't mean that it's 100% accurate. It's just a stick in the mud to chart your progress over time. Sure, you can control the number slightly by restricting fluids before weigh in and other similar games, but that doesn't make you lose FAT and that's the real goal. Just try to keep your weigh in time and wardrobe somewhat consistent.

Rather than pinning all of your hopes and expectations on one piece of machinery, focus on all of the GOOD things that you did this week. All of those good things WILL add up and be visible on the scale, but it'll take more than just one week.

Hang in there!

Hi,
My WI's are on Saturday mornings. I usually arrange my menu so that the breakfast I eat that morning is not so heavy like the breafast square or the fruit and granola cereal. Then I do a last minute workout which is about 40 minutes on the treadmill walking at a fast pace or on an incline. I usually try to avoid too much water within a 24 hour period and instead I drink alot of green tea to help flush me out (green tea makes you pee like a race horse, lol). Surprisingly my periods have not affected my weight loss--amazing! I have not been retaining as much water during that 5-7 day lovely cycle but If I do feel a little "retained" Idrink alot of the pepsi zer as well as the tea. Those things just make me goooooo constantly. But I think trying the green tea and maybe doing a little more of an intense work-out may help. Good luck. And dont worry, you are not always gonna loose so much weight a week, but as long as you loose. I too got spoiled with my numbers until 2 weeks ago when I also had a .8 loss. But the following week went up to 3 pounds so expect some low numbers some weeks so this way you are not discouraged when they come!!! Good luck

Drinking a ton of water was a good thing, so dont restrict yourself on that up until ONE hour before weigh in. Then be sure to use the facilities before hopping on the scale.

Of course, if you are super thirsty dont deny yourself. I've had at least one weigh in where I just had to drink something because I was so thirsty. Drink up, and though you may see a higher number on the scale, one year from now it wont matter whether you were down 2.0 or 0.2 today.

Take care,
Angela
