Full Version: New dinner chili

I already posted this in the Favorite Foods thread but since you're looking for feedback on the new menu, here's mine on the new chili.

To me, it's not as good as the lunch chili which I absolutely LOVE. (I bought a flat of it when I heard it was going away). The seasoning and consistency are both a little off on the new one.

I still can't figure out why it went away.

1) The lunch choices are dwindling and to get rid of a good one just doesn't make any sense.

2) There was already a dinner chili.

3) It seems like the smart thing to do would be to bring it back (same recipe) but put it in the microwaveable container if convenience was the issue.

I could have written this almost word for word! I doctored it up with finely chopped celery, carrots, jalapeņos but it still was a bit flavorless (compared to the lunch one). So far I've tried 4 of the new foods and 3 I'll never buy again (pancakes, pannini, choc chip cookie). I'll give the chili another chance since there's only so much chicken I can eat.

I totally agree about the chili. THe lunch version is much better. I also bought extra today since I knew it was going away. If we make enough noise, hopefully they will bring it back!

I agree with you guys about the dinner beef chili. I was hoping it would be a dinner version of the lunch chili but I was wayyyyy off base. I tried everything to spice this chili up, including cayene pepper, hot sauce, and etc...Still bland... sad.gif

I agree the lunch chili was the best! One of the few mexican type dishes I could actually eat that they have. I am disappointed to hear the new diner chili is not so good. The turkey one was horrible, was hoping this would be better. I may still try it with extra spice just to see but I won't have my hopes up about it.

i didn't like it either. it's one of the meals i couldn't even finish this week. i tried to doctor it up with some of my favorite hot sauce and some fat free sour cream, but even that didn't make it palatable.

I didn't even finish it. I loved the lunch chili and the shelf stable turkey chili.

Yuck.

Ok, you guys are scaring me. I just came back to JC after 3 yrs. My center doesn't have the chili con carne (which I liked a lot!) but my consultant recommended the dinner chili. I guess I'll save it for a day I'm really not that hungry.

Maybe I'm just weird, but I love the new chili!! I get it all the time.

Now, don't get me started on the chicken and corn chowder, that was what I call bland.

OK, I finally tried this last night. I will not be ordering it again. I go to the Kalamazoo, MI center but work close to the Grand Rapids one. I think I'm going to check if they carry the chili con carne. If so, I'm going to buy a few. A long time ago on a post, someone suggested using it to make a taco salad of sorts. It was really good.
