Full Version: Turkey Panini

I excitedly tore open the box to try my first Panini for lunch today and, hmmm...........

It's not horrible, it's just not the texture I was expecting. It was mushy. Oh how I wish they could've made it with actual slices of turkey (such as the turkey used in the dinner entree). I guess it kinda looked and tasted like, pardon my French, $h!t on a shingle.

Hopefully, I will have better luck tonight as I try the spaghetti and meatballs!!
pumpkingirl
was looking forward to trying that, bummer!

I had the spaghetti and meatballs and loved it!

I enjoyed the panini, but I cooked it differently. I took off the toppings, put the bread in the toaster, nuked the topping on a plate then put it together with the bread with some onions.

I agree that it's not great. I used the toaster oven prep method, so the bread was nice and crunchy, and I ate it open face with some added veggies. But it just wasn't as good as I expected. I like the turkey burger much better.

I actually was afraid to try the panini after all that I read on here, but then I thought oh what have I got to lose, $5? LOL I really liked it. Once you get over the look of it, I thought it was quite toasty even out of the micro.
I do like this, but I have to say my new abs fav.... is the Spag & Meatballs. I could eat that every night... LOL

I really liked it! This is a must-cook-in-toaster-oven meal, but it was tasty. I think I'll just order this on the weekends when I have time to wait 30 minutes for lunch to cook. Ho hum. Guess it will just be back to soups and stuffed sandwiches during the week. The other meals are great, but--c'mon Jenny--some decent lunches and variety would be nice.

I love the panini out of the toaster over with a huge salad....so crunchy and a nice mix of flavors. Please Jenny...keep the Panini. It's a big treat on the weekend when the toaster oven is handy.

I am with YOU! The Spag & Meatballs is great....and filling. Like some others, I too am a bit disappointed with the turkey pannini especially since the new photo on the cover of the dining selections brochure shows not an open faced sandwich but what appears to be a real sandwich (bread on each side with meat in between.)
Again though..I could eat the Spag & Meatballs every night...and I might lol.

I have a panini maker at home and cooked it on it and I thought it was delious, I hope they come out with more panini's.

Oh, I so agree with you! I will even go one better, I think it smells like cat food! I don't like the texture either. Needless to say, I was very dissapointed.

At first I didn't like the panini and compared it to cat food and mush, but it grew on me and now I am happy that they brought it back. The texture is a little chunkier and they've added tomatoes but it's pretty much the same as before.
lillypad
what you need to do is put some red onion, tomato and lettuce on it and it is sooooo good! my mom hated it and now she loves it.
Mary757
I put some raw spinach and red pepper strips on mine. I liked it. I also cooked it in the toaster oven.

I'm having the turkey panini today for the first time. Maybe I should bring a back-up lunch with me to work today...lol!

For me it was the texture of the meat on the panini. It really grossed me out. I should have scraped that off and added all the veggies you mentioned.

I love it out of the toaster oven...with mustard and a big salad. Had the spahetti tonight and it was yummy. 2.2 lbs to go to GOAL!!! I love almost all the JC food. Don't look forward to maintenance when weaning begins except I'll be saving a ton of $.

I LOVE the Panini, I am surprised to hear all the negativity around it. I put mine in the toaster oven and when it comes out I add red onion and a few dried cranberries and some, tomatoes, baby spinach leaves to it and eat it opened face with a huge spinach salad.

I even put some fat free mozzarella cheese on it too and that helps too. Try it again but skip the microwave.

Good luck, Sheila B.
