Does anyone have the current - APRIL 2009 Price List. I was at the center yesterday and purchased my weeks worth of food. I called today to ask to have a price list mailed, scanned, or emailed to me and was told that they could not do that?!
jmoh

So far as I know, they've never been allowed to do that. However, my center will tell me the price of individual items. I was shown a price list yesterday. I wrote down (on the food brochure) the prices of the items I use.

I can only guess, but I think they don't want the price list floating around in the public among people who would only know one thing about the program-- the food costs.

Your consultant should have it available to you if you ask for one. It's not a secret document. Just ask for one next time you go in to pick up food. Tell her you need it to update your budget on your computer. I keep my food 'inventory' on my computer--let's me know what I'm short of and what I need to order and what the cost will be.

Every time the costs change or there are new items, I ask for a new sheet so I can update my spreadsheet. Hope this helps.

I went for my weigh in today and asked for the price list and got it, on it are the new foods.

I don't understand why they cannot list the prices online, would certainly simplify things.

You should be able to get a price list at the center (maybe they are just not allowed to mail it). I signed up for the program last week for the first time and was stunned at the price of the food ($155!!). Actually I think they were a little surprised as well because they re-calculated just to make sure it correct -- yup it was right! Anyway, I asked to see a price list and without hesitation they gave me one to take with me. When I looked at the prices I understood why it was so high. I have already come up with a few ways to get that cost down; skip the anytime bars (the cookie cream bars are one of the only things on the program so far that is not so good) and soupitizers (I don't have enough free foods left at the end of the day to use them anyway and p.s. the chicken rosemary--not so good!).

I'm on Jenny Direct and requested a price list from my consultant and she e-mailed it to me the same day as a pdf document.

I mad. I know that JC don't want their pricing to go to people that aren't on the program, But I'm on the program and going to stay on. I know the program is not cheap. I'm a little upset, I asked for a price list and my JCC told me she didn't even know that pricing, but later on in the our meeting she told my the JC splash are 3.49. What is the deal. I know that someone posted a price list back in June 2008 (which is old now), so if someone will email me a price list I will post for everyone else. Just let me know.

Beside, I would love to give my JCC the price list she ever had. hehehe biggrin.gif
BeccaBecca
I think if they actually posted the prices online then they wouldn't get half the number of consultations they usually get, because, initially, the prices are kinda shocking, compared to store-bought frozen dinners.
Purelife0309
Good point, never thought of that... BUT it would be nice for members to have an area, maybe with a special password to be able to view prices.

The only items missing are the few new ones.

The price list above is accurate -- just missing the new items, which, honestly, aren't priced any differently.

There's a lot of reasons JC doesn't give out price lists. I think the main one is that is causes people to stop planning their menu's in advance. People start filling out the price sheet and calling that their "menu" like they're ordering food at a restaurant, and then their weight loss slows and sometimes stops... at least this is my experience.

If clients ask, I do give it to them, don't get me wrong, but I find the clients that think more about their weight and less about how much a bag of cereal costs are the ones that find the most success on the plan. Let's be honest, it's not inexpensive... and it can be done cheaper on your own, but that's the reason why we signed up in the first place (yes, I was a client, and a poor college student at the time). I've lost the majority of my weight and I never asked the prices.... I just made my weight loss a priority no matter what, and I'm happy I didn't obsess.

Yes, I know people have to plan budgets, etc etc. However if you just assume the avg cost of the program should be about 12-18 dollars a day, then it shouldn't be tough to figure out. That avg doesn't include anytime bars or soupitizers... but those are easy to add in (9.99 or 2.99).

I'm not trying to be a jerk, or a downer, but I'm trying to make sense of this debate over the price list, as I've been on this board for some time now and the question always comes up. If it works, why question it? For those of us that were severely overweight (I was), I couldn't afford NOT to do the program... and I'm glad I took that mindset into the center.

That ALL being said, we shouldn't have an issue handing you one price list... if it becomes a weekly habit where you want to fill it out in the lobby instead of a menu, then yes, it should be an issue, because you're basically treating JC like a grocery store and less like a weight loss plan.

Purelife0309
bosstbone: With all due respect... with times the way they are right now, I have to choose the most inexpensive items and that requires a price list, at first I wasn't using the price list and paid $10-20 more a week and THAT is huge when you are penny pinching. I don't see what the big deal is wanting to see the prices, it's our right and for me, it certainly doesn't make me stray NOR do I see my weight loss slowing down... I am right on track.

Yes, which is why I noted that if people ask for the list, they should give it to you --- in my centre we do with no problem --- I was more noting the people who use the list as a way to order their food weekly without filling out a menu

That was a large post just to state that laugh.gif Anyway... I see what you are saying... I myself always fill out my menu as it helps stay on track. My center has never had a problem with giving me a price list so it's all cool for me.

I don't think you can just make that assumption. I did the first week and then did the math the 2nd week. My DAILY average was close to $18. I had the anytime bars but not the soupitizers. Taking out the Anytime bars, I was still near $17/day.

When my JC consultant threw out the $12-18/day average, I expected some days to be closer to $12, not all of them closer to $18. That is my complaint.

Yes, however, if you're sticking to planned days, you can go to the "menu planner" section of this site and on the left hand side there's a section for "travel/shelf stable" menu's where you'll find the average cost is 11-14 dollars a day and its still planned out by nutrition....

PROGRESS...NOT PERFECTION
also if you think about it when you are buying the food you are also paying for your consultant.. they have to pay them also. so you might be paying a few dollars more for something then in the food store but you dont get a consultation either..

so think about that next time you complain about what you are paying.-- they do have to pay there employees.. and think about the price of having a nutricionist.. it would be more then around 100-150 dollars per wk..
jenrdn69
My personal opinion for those on the program who must budget: Expect to pay 150 per week on the food you need---this can include all the store purchased things you need if you work it in well---so, about $21 per day on food (includes your milks, fruits, etc).

Its not cheap. It darned expensive. I can argue both side of why its monetarily worth it to do the program or that if you can't afford it, how to do it "JC like" but not buy JC food---there is no right answer. Just honesty from all participants: JC corporate, JCC and your local JC office (in giving you a price list and working with you), and yourself (sticking to the program).
acm
I'm more of a "lurker" on here than a poster, but I just had to weigh in on this topic. First off, the centre I go to has a pad of price lists sitting on a table in the waiting area. I didn't even have to ask for one. If you want one, it should be made available to you. You woudn't go to the grocery store just grabbing things off the shelf, not knowing how much they cost. So why should you be expected to do it with JC?

I have been back on the program for 3 weeks now. The first week I spent $86 on food, the second week $57.00, the third week $74.00, and just today going into the fourth week $80 (less a coupon I had so it ended up being $66). In addition to that, I probably spend about $25-30/week on veggies and dairy products for both me and my husband ... that's a guess. I think one can be just as successful on this program without buying everything. Personally, I do breakfast on my own; I substitute the 100-calorie packs and add a fat in place of buying snacks; I don't buy soupitizers, vitamins, salad dressings or Anytime bars. I have been away from home the past 2 weekends so only bought 5 days worth of food for those weeks as I wasn't interested in taking my JC food along.

Now all this being said, I am a return client. I lost about 28 pounds about 9 years ago. This time, I only want to lose 10 to 15 pounds. I know you're probably thinking, "Why spend the money on JC to lose 10 to 15?" I just felt that I was starting to get out of control with my eating and wanted to nip it in the bud before things got too out of hand. That's the beauty of being a lifetime member ... kind of an insurance policy to keep the weight off since you can return any time at no extra cost.

With only a little to lose, in the past 3 weeks I have lost 5.2 pounds. I think that's on pace, especially given the fact that the weight usually comes off more slowly the less you have to lose. And I've done it on a budget. Granted, I have the knowledge of the exchanges being that I've been through the program before. But I personally feel that the sooner you can learn that and start replacing a few meals here and there with "real" food, the better off you are. For instance, one evening I was planning to have the mesquite chicken. My husband was going to have grilled chicken, potatoes and a vegetable. I thought: Why break open the JC meal if I can have basically the same thing along with my hubby for a lot less money. That happend 2 weeks in a row, so my first box purchased of mesquite chicken is still in the freezer.

So that's just my two cents on all this pricing/budget stuff. I'll post my breakfast in the recipe section. I eat it every morning, and it's so healthy, nutritious and filling. The whole bowl of goodness probably costs me about $.50 at the most.

Best of luck to all of you on the program. I feel it's a great way to lose weight and a great way to live.

I am sure JC gets more then enough money to pay their employees with the sign up fees as well... also, they are not nutritionists, they are consultants that learned the JC program.

I'm on Jenny Direct and requested a price list from my consultant and she e-mailed it to me the same day as a pdf document.

JenGen,

This is totally off topic, but I noticed your cat picture. Is that your cat? My cat that I had for ten years that died looked eaxctly like that cat. Her name was Mercedes and she was beautiful. I just had to comment on this. It is like looking at her.

I was able to get one by emailing them on this site through contact us and received it within a few hours. I had called Jenny Cares first and they would not give me one.

As far as the JCC's being a nutritionist - you are sadly mistaking. They will take anyone who applies run you threw a quick course and then off you go to consel others. Basicly they have a script they repeat again and again to each client.
