Full Version: New Vegetarian Lifestyle and JC

Hi Everyone! I have been reading about vegetarian lifestyles and I think I am going to go back to being a vegetarian (I was one several years ago before JC and I didn't eat very healthfully, all carbs and no vegetables). I was wondering what it is like with JC, the variety of food and all. I am 30 pounds from MOMO days at half-way so it will be a while before I can incorporate my own meals into my week. I don't want to wait until then, however, I don't want to get two or three weeks into it and then feel like I've failed at something important. Honestly, I'm afraid that I would either go back to eating meat or start eating my own meals which I am not ready to prepare in a healthy, weight-loss way.

I want to make this change for ethical reasons and the thought of failing at this really bothers me. I know I've mentioned that twice, but it weighs on me (no pun intended).

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Kim

Personally, as a vegetarian, I am finding it exceedingly hard to exceed on JC since I've hit my halfway point and need to do MOMOs. To eat veg MOMOs, you really need to know how to calculate exchanges from food labels, which I find very, very difficult. In fact, my centre consultants find it difficult and cannot calculate certain exchanges for me (this goes for the centre manager as well). I've called Jenny Cares for information on the exchanges, and their consultants do not know how to calculate the exchanges. It's a very complicated system, and I don't know why JC would have chosen it other that to keep people on JC food for longer. But I digress. I think as a non-vegetarian, halfway MOMOs would be easier (just eat some grilled chicken with vegetables and a small amount of starch).

I fully support your becoming a vegetarian. I have been one for over 23 years. However, if I had know how complicated the MOMOs were for vegetarians, I never would have joined JC. Unfortunately, I didn't get this information until I hit my halfway mark.

Best of luck

Thanks, Shani, for the information. I was on the JC Program 5 years ago before restarting and I never got the exchange calculation down after I reached half-way. My JCC's solution to that was to give me one meal instead of a days' worth of MOMOs. I'm trying not to get discouraged with this change as I learn more about how farm animals are treated. Fortunately (If I can put a good spin on this), I'm losing at a slow rate so I will have plenty of time to work on exchanges between now and half-way. Now that I hear that good vegetarian exhanges are difficult to calculate I can try to work on something.

Best wishes,
Kim

When I tried the program 2 years ago, I hated all the food items containing meat. So the vegetarian meals were my only choices.
I begin again tomorrow. The journey to health.
