I have either gained or not lost weight in the past four weeks. I go up a pound, down half a pound. I'm 63 and have physical limitations so I don't get much exercise. And it has been cold and raining in PA so no walks outside. Any suggestions from someone in the same situation?

Hi Kamina,
You don't say what your physical limitations are. Are you able to use a treadmill? Swimming is also a good source of exercise depending on your abilities.
I was struggling with my weight since the holidays and much of my problem was being cooped up indoors plus other family problems, but am happy to say things are back on track again! I don't get a whole lot of activity in because of my knees and hip but I have made myself get on the treadmill the last couple of weeks to get some exercise in. I can't go for very long yet but am gradually increasing the time and speed. We actually had a few nice days lately and I got outside a bit and it really felt good. Natural activity works so much better for me - I get really bored using the treadmill!!
Also, are you drinking all your fluids? There are several chair exercises a person can also do, or else one of the ladies here has a Wii fitness and she just loves it for getting in some activity.
If there is anything else we can help with, please post on the boards and someone will have some ideas! Hang in there and the weight will come off. I've slowed down now that I've lost a bit, and the closes you get to your goal it seems the harder it is to get it off!! I know that now I have to work harder to get more activity in!

ask them to put you on a lower calorie intake. Are you higher than 1200 calories a day? I started at 1200 calories a day and have lost plenty.

Thanks to all who have replied. I am already on a 1200 calorie diet. I will stop eating anything extra and have begun walking as much as I can.

hi there

i just started, followed the plan all the way and did not lose one pound. two people i spoke with in the waiting room told me they lost at least 6 pounds the first week. my counselor said because i exercise all the time she is putting me on the 1500 calorie plan instead of the 1200. i'll let you know how i do next week. i see you posted this back in August has anything changed?

I have lost 3 lbs. since I entered that comment. I must admit that I do not always measure or stick rigidly to the plan. Also I did not exercise much until recently. I'm sure all that has to influence my lack of weight loss. I have vowed to keep to the diet as written and exercise every day and see what happens. I have many medical problems and take a lot of prescription medicines that cause me to gain weight. I'll let you know. Good luck to you. Don't give up. The consultants seem to know what they are talking about, so listen to yours.

Hello to all - first I have lost 5 pounds this week BUT I have been very, very sick with my second go around with Shingles so this loss may come back to haunt me when I am able to eat more than just broth and sleep and itch ...

I urge all my friend ages 50+ if you had the Chickenpox as a child, please, please talk to your doctor about getting the anti-viral shot to prevent this painful illness. I thought that after I had had it once, I would never get it again ... not true. Google Shingles to see how ugly this stuff is, it may help you decide to get the shot.

Anyhow, I am sick as a dog so see you guys when I am feeling better and I wish all a great and healthy week.
