Thanks!

Remember that when volumizing you can use ANY of the non starchy vegetables. Cauliflower is a great choice, as well as zuccini and maybe even green beans like the steam in bag you can get from Green Giant brand. Wow...am very excited to try it now that I think about it because I am getting hungry. Good thing we get our stock in centre tomorrow! Yum with anticipation!

Tried this last night

Oh my gosh was it good! I was very pleasantly surprised with the chicken, very lean white chicken. Very tasty & satisfying dish, going to have to stock up on this as it is a temporary item.

I'm really excited. About a month ago, someone at JC told me they heard the Chicken Parm was going to be a shelf stable food. Now that I know it is frozen, I can't wait. Yum!
By the way, I just tried the Cashew Chicken last night. The picture on the JC website shows huge mushrooms (which I hate) so I never ordered it. My JCC told me that she loves the dish, so I tried it. Put in some Sugar Snap Peas to volumize and it was FABULOUS.
Sometimes we've got to try new things! We might be really pleasantly surprised!

I've tried everything but I'm never eating the Cashew Chicken again. Mine had those huge nasty asian mushrooms in it. Slimy. And I LOVE regular mushrooms. I'm not buying anything that I have to pick stuff out of. And.....those weird mushrooms made a weird taste in the dish.
Aren't we all so funny and picky? Can you imagine how hard it is for JC to please ALL of us?!

I liked everything but it had too much oregano for me. It was kind of harsh. I won't order it again.

Ok, I'm a HUGE fan of the cashew chicken. I used the creative cookbook and spooned the cashew chicken into lettuce leaves. FABULOUS! Reminds me a lot of the appetizer from PF Changs. (ahhh memories).

Yes, the Mesquite CHicken is more filling. I agree with that statement.
The sauce reminds me of the Penne Pasta, a little bland.
THe chicken tenders in it are yummo!! Overall, it lacks the flavor of the spaghetti & meatballs, but I do like it. I have to add salt and pepper.

I just tried the chicken parm and I loved it!!! I cooked it a little in the microwave then took out the broccoli,I like to cook that separate. I put the pasta and the chicken in an oven proof dish top it with 2 tab low fat spag sauce then top it with 1 tab red fat mozzarella cheese. bake it until hot. I had to use my fat for the day for the cheese but it was so good I could have served it to company. Is this a permanent item?

I think it's the safest way to go, for JC to make their food on the bland side. You can always add flavorings and spices to suit your taste, but you can't take away flavors and spices. The meals will appeal to a broader spectrum of people - especially people with a less than adventurous palate. It helps me to look at the meals as blank canvases, just waiting for my own personal artistic touch. In the process, I learn to add flavor, variety and volume without adding calories and unwanted fats, etc. Skills we can take with us, when we start eating "real" food instead of our JC meals.

Viickie - I'm all about flavor, surprising my taste buds, trying new things. I know from other posts you've made, that you tend to be a more cautious eater. For instance, for me, I haven't had a good Indian (India Indian) meal unless I've broken out in a sweat (from the "heat"), or felt the wasabi sinus rush eating sushi. But, we're all different.
The Hopi Indians see food as sustenance..... period. I love the simplicity of their traditional diet, and understand the philosophy behind their views on food. I'm the complete and total opposite. To me, if you gotta eat to survive, you might as well eat well. There's just too much variety, flavors, preparations, cultures to explore, to "waste time" in a food rut, eating the same old, same old, day after day, year after year. Fortunately (or maybe unfortunately.... since my love of good food has certainly contributed to my weight issues) my parents were adventurous eaters, too. Mom would try any recipe, and we always chose exotic (at least for those decades... the late 60s, early 70s) restaurants.
If the food is over seasoned for you, volumize it with additional veggies and added sauce, to spread the seasoning over a larger quantity of food... to dilute the flavor a bit?
HopefulVickie
Mar 18 2009, 06:22 AM
Good suggestion! Oddly enough, I'm not really a cautious eater. I love spicy....the hotter the better. There are a few spices that I really object to and one of them is oregano. I love garlic too. Maybe that would drown it out.
For example, I love the Szechuan Pork. I found a spicy garlic chili Thai sauce that I use with it. Awesome!
I haven't been volumizing much because there doesn't seem to be enough extra sauce for that in most entrees. I really didn't think about adding extra free sauce.
I know what you mean about eating philosophy. I am a total live to eat kind of girl. I'm working hard to become a eat to live girl instead.
My thought when starting JC was mindless program eating with not much preparation. I'm going to have to move off of that at some point because I'm going to be on this for at least 2 years or longer to get to goal.

The first the classico chicken Parmesan I had, I have no clue what happy. I could taste the Deep fried chicken in my month as i was putting is dish in the oven. The whole time it was cooking, I just can't wait to taste, especially after hearing all the rave about it. I get it out of the oven and planted up. Set down at the diner room table and take my first bit, making sure I got a little of everything- bow tie paste, Parmesan, and the deep fried chicken. I think I cook the dish in the oven to long, my bow tie was crunchy, but the Chicken, the Deep fried, Golden Brown Chicken is a different story. Over way the dish was go.
I'm going to eat it again this week. Can't wait- Deep fried chicken here I come!!!!!

It's very good. I'm a Mesquite Chicken nut and am mourning the fact it is going away, but the Classico Chicken Parmesan will ease my grief! It hits all the right notes with bow pasta, parmesan cheese, sauce, and tender chicken. It is yummy enough I have to remind myself to eat slowly! It is pretty filling also. Hope it lasts a while in the Jenny stock. I like plating it with a nice dinner salad of mixed greens, tomatoes, mushrooms, etc., and balsamic dressing. It isn't exactly like going to an Italian restaurant, but it sure makes losing weight easier!!!

Well, I tried the meal a few nights ago and it was good but not OMG good. I did enjoy the chicken though. I wish they would use breaded chicken like that for the chicken sandwiches instead of that hard rubbery disk they call grilled chicken that is used now.
Now, I will sit back and wait with anticipation for the return of the Turkey Panini and Spaghetti & Meatballs. I started JC after these 2 temp foods were discontinued. Glad to hear they are coming back next month on a permanent basis!!

I tried the Classico Chicken Parmesan last week for the first time and it was delicious and very filling. I was surprised that the serving size seemed so much bigger than other items. This week I ordered two of them and had one tonight.
I certainly hope they make this one a permanent addition to the JC menu.

Classico Chicken Parmesan is my favorite food. I eat it every evening for dinner. My Center told me that this is not a permanent food. They said that I should contact Jenny Craig and that I want them to continue this food. Please everyone contact Jenny Craig to tell them to keep selling this food. I cannot do this by myself and need as many people as possible to contact Jenny Craig.

I may be going against the cool kids by saying this, but I wasn't satisfied with the Chicken Parm. I liked the taste, the sauce was ok, the bowties were ok, but I couldn't get past feeling that I was having a couple of chicken nuggets with some sauce and negligible amounts of cheese. I had been looking forward to it.

I'm not cool either. I've had two times and both times the paste was mushy. I did like the bread chicken, wished it was not nuggets. I hope JC comes out with some more bread chicken, w/out any sauce- lsomething like what the fish and chips are.

Chicken Parm is my favorite dish in the whole world (must be breaded). So I was thrilled to see this on the menu. But I must say I was disappointed. The pasta had all the negative characteristics of some whole wheat pastas -- chewy, tasteless. It would be much better with spaghetti like the spaghetti and meatballs. The chicken itself was good, but it reminded me of that old t.v. commercial: Where's the beef? (In this case chicken.) Not enough of it to make it worth while. The sauce was edible but not great. I was really disappointed and will not order this again.

I thought I was alone in this opinion, but the last few posters gave me some company

I wasn't crazy about this dinner. The chicken was mushy and needed more sauce and REALLY tiny! I thought the broccoli was a weird side to squeeze in there as well, but that could be just me - I'm not a big fan of broccoli.
But hey - I also like the anytime bars, so maybe my taste buds are off!
I would rather have had the chicken as plain ol' fingers w/ fries. Like the Fish n' chips dinner, but with chicken.

Please bring this one back! I really enjoyed it, and I've checked all the locations in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area), and they're all sold out. I agree we need more new dinner options, but this one deserved to stick around!
I agree about the Cashew chicken too - I'd much prefer button mushrooms to the ones in the dish now...
