YUCK:

Soupitizers--especially the chicken ones! I stopped getting those after the first week. I poured them over my dog's food, thought it would be a treat for her, and even she looked at me kind of funny (and this from someone who will roll in poop if I let her)

Potstickers--must admit I read all of the negative reviews on the night that it was on my menu for the first time but I agree 100%

salad dressings--gross and I can find some pretty tasty substitutes. I get the Kraft 2g of fat blue cheese dressing, which actually has slightly fewer calories and fat than the JC dressing

YUM:

French Toast! My all-time favorite!

Blueberry or Silver Dollar pancakes with Veggie Sausage

Stuffed sandwiches--I like Chicken and Meatball

lemon cake, chocolate cake, and the brownie (can you tell I like sweets?)

I actually like the chicken salad kit but the peaches with the tuna one are gross.

I can tolerate the Anytime Bars. I wouldn't call them good but they do fill me up when I feel hungry mid-morning so they definitely serve a purpose.

I was kind of repelled by the idea of the shelf stable foods, but the Rotini with Meat Sauce was actually pretty tasty.

I didn't think I was going to like the Chicken Carbonara, but it actually tasted pretty good. However, after I made it, my husband came downstairs and said something smelled "like feet" in the kitchen!!! smile.gif

Overall, most of the foods are at least tolerable!

hmmm I kinda liked the chicken soup but you are right about those awful tasting anytime bars...OMG I hate them all. They are gritty and chalky and leave such a nasty aftertaste. I ditched those after the second week on the program. My favs are the spaghetti and meatballs, the mesquite and cashew chicken and I just love the borritos and stuffed sandwhiches. The brownies are to die for especially during that time of the month when I am soo craving the chocolate. Over-all the menu is great but I would like it even more if they would add some ice cream to the menu--what do you gals think????

Honestly, i have not tried a lot of items because I am not a fan of shelf stable foods... I tried a few, and the only one I have liked (other than snacks and a the breakfast cereals) is the rotini and meatballs. I actually like the potstickers (don't get it all the time, though). I did like the penne pasta for a while, but the last 2 times I got it, it had a funky sour-like taste.

The salad kits are the worst to me.. i agree, my cats would not even eat it. yuck..

I think the penne pasta has changed too! I used to love it and now the noodles are soggy and it tastes sour

I hated the mesquite chicken. Couldn't eat it. I'm glad that one is being discontinued. Also am finding that a lot of the foods have a lot of pepper in them. I do not tolerate pepper (even mild) in my food very well and I have found that a lot of the JC meals have a lot of pepper.
I also don't eat the Anytime bars. I just didn't like the texture and I enjoy a cup of yogurt more.
I'm looking forward to trying the spaghetti and meatballs and the turkey panini.
For the most part, I do like most of the meals and can always find something to order. My favorite meal has been the chicken carbonara and I add broccoli to it for a pretty satisfying meal. I also love the tuna and chicken salad kits, so convenient.

Lets turn this back to positive! I find myself trying somethings that I wouldnt before because other people said they liked it!
My Top Favorites are:
Personal Pizza
Chicken Carbonara
BBQ Chicken Pizza
Triple Choc Cheesecake!

I had Fish and Chips on my list of Don't Care for.

But today, I used the toaster oven instead of the microwave. Covered it with foil for about 30 mins (kinda forgot it), then flipped the fish and chips over in the pan and took the foil off for it to brown for a few mins.

Loved it.

HOW TO MAKE JC ITEMS EVEN BETTER:

FRENCH TOAST: A little dry, BUT I nuke a diced fuji apple for about 1 min with cinnamon & splenda making a sort of baked apple (but without the hassel), it ends up gathering a sort or syrupy substance and makes a wonderful compliment for the French Toast.

FRUIT & GRANOLA: Yes the fruit is a little hard, BUT I don't mind it as much when I mix it in with Fat Free FAGE yogurt, 1 cup of frozen berries and the KEY is splenda and a lime zest to your preference. It makes a wonderful fresh breakfast that is easy to take with you. I eat it at work almost every day.

BROCCOLI & CHEESE POTATO: I use 2 - 3 tbs of Fat Free FAGE yogurt on it as a sour cream substitute and it makes it delish and EXTREMELY filling!

*If you haven't tried FAGE yogurt (I find it at Trader Joes, Whole Foods & Publix) it is a yummy plain yogurt that can be eaten sweet or salty depending on how you dress it up.

Hope these help you ladies enjoy your meals even more!

I hate all the anytime bars but I actually like the homestyle chicken and noodles, it is one of the only shelf stable meals I like. I also love the chocolate grahm twists

I went to the supermarket and found a very close equivalent to the Jenny Craig protein bars. They are called Pure Protein and you eat 1/2 a bar, which is close in size to the JC bar. Chocolate Chip and Smores are my favorites.

Another low fat but delicious substitute is Trader Joe's Tzatkiki. I put 2T on broccoli and my whole family loved it. I also use it instead of may on sandwiches.
Finding me again
OMG, I LOVE the potstickers. I'm gonna have to start buying LOTS of packages because if so many people don't like them, JC might discontinue them..... What a disaster that would be!!!!
massi
I love the Fish and Chips, and putting them under the broiler is a Great Idea!
I do like the pot Stickers and the anytime bars (they are like paste, but it makes me eat them in smaller bites, and the taste is OK)
I want the Crackers back!
My favorite food is the turkey burger! I just let the bun thaw instead of microwaving it, and add all the good burger things--lettuce tomato onion pickle!
LittleMe2Be
I'm just recently back on JC as of last Tuesday...and actually had the potstickers tonight. Last time on the program (after my 1st child) I liked them way better. This time around (which is intended to be my LAST!) not so much.
I agree, the PB Anytime bars...too gritty. My consultant says that's the vitamin component. The Special K snack bar is similar in calories and much tastier (but you need to also add vitamins.)
I was thrilled to find out the Soupitizers are in lieu of the "limited extras" -- because they will NOT be my extras anymore - YUCK!

I had the new chicken corn chowder for lunch today, and everyone is right. It's tasteless and awful. I don't like to waste food, but I came pretty close to throwing this out. I seasoned and seasoned and finally, reluctantly, added a little salt. I was able to eat it, but I'll never get it again. What were they thinking?
ebrandt21
There are several things I'm not crazy about.. but I didn't outright HATE anything except the Italian Wedding Soup. It was the most bland and tasteless thing I've ever had.

I also didn't like the veggie sausage that comes with the pancakes.

Folks,

Just to make it official. After tasting EVERYTHING, there is nothing more disgusting than the peanut butter anytime bars!!!

2nd place goes to the slimy chicken noodle thing. (Sorry wherever America, this is gross!)

I can't totally complain though. I have lost 80+ pounds on the program in 8 months.

-D

maria martin
that's why they give you the choice to choose what you want to eat...
besides, you said it yourself, you've los 80lbs...

I am just finishing 4 weeks on JC and there are only two things that I really had a difficult time eating and they were both in Week 4. Thankfully, I didn't get them the first week. They are the Mashed Potatoes and Beef (so glad there were only 3 or 4 little nuggets of 'beef' in there) and today, the Swedish Meatballs. I have found I much prefer the frozen entrees over the shelf stable foods. I also don't really care for the soups but I'll eat them if I have to.

legend09
I think the only thing that I have really thrown away is the chicken and corn chowder soup - agree with everyones comments. I actually added some hot sauce to give it taste - then made it way too hot to eat!
Scatts
I fondly call the shelf stable items "post-apocalypse food". The chicken and beans is THE WORST!

Strangely enough... I think I will prefer to live off of Swedish meatballs after the apocalypse! XD
pchykeen
Thankfully, the worst has been retired...the "Italian" Wedding Soup. blech!!

There's been no way I've found to fix the Swedish Meatballs to bring it to an edible state.

Now, the strangest food had GOT to be the Mashed Potatoes and Beef. It wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for these two things:
-the "mashed" potatoes" never mash! I mean, it maintains a strange triangular shape, even after quite a few "forkings"! Maybe I need to use a mallet
-and the capers ~ waaaay too many for the overall volume of food. Perhaps it's a mixed blessing that those little things are the first to explode out of the pulled-back corner! LOL!!

Overall, though, I'm quite pleased with the taste of the majority of food I've had ( I stay away from those Anytime bars).

EWWW!!! The Thai chicken soupitizer tasted like kerosene! blink.gif

LOL I THOUGHT IT TASTED LIKE NAIL POLISH REMOVER!!!!!

HATE the shelf stable chicken & beans, hate the mashed potatoes & beef, and hate the soupetizers. The fish and chips are awful unless you bake them in the oven. Don't bother microwaving them. I thought the peanut butter anytime bars had a metallic aftertaste.

But I LOVE the potstickers!

Uh-oh...I just bought the potstickers, I'm afraid. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the spaghetti and meatballs. I add mushrooms to add a little to it. Also like the rising crust pizza, if you add roasted red/green peppers, it makes it even yummier. Dislike the pesto pizza. Thanks for the tip on broiling the fish and chips, great idea!

Wow! Congratulations on losing more than 80 pounds. I totally agree with you on the pb anytime bars. Yesterday was my first day and when I bit into it, I almost gagged. Not only that, but you have to chew like 50 times to get one bite down...lol

I ate a PB anytime bar the first day and never touched'em again. It turned to spackle (sp?) in my mouth and got stuck in my teeth. Taste wasn't so great either.

Beef and Mashed Potatoes tasted like barf (kinda looked that way too)... blink.gif
Chicken Salad has a sour tart taste to me. A poster on another topic referred to it as cat food... laugh.gif

As for the Potato soup, I like to add some FF shredded cheese and chives after heating it up. But it's still not very good. Has a burnt garlic taste.

My absolute favorite is Fish and Chips!!!! I eat this 2-3 times a week! I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!!!!!! If JC every got rid of this I think I would go into a depression!

I LOVE the Fish and Chips too. I make them in my toaster oven and they are delish. Yum! I also really like the Sunshine Sandwich. I take the english muffin and toast it while the egg and ham heat in the mircowave. Gives it the perfect "crunch".

The Zesty Tortlellini Soup is good and I also enjoy the Baked Potato with Broccoli.
WorknIt
Lest we forget the Tuna Salad Kit. My all-time, never gonna go there again, peee-uuuuu in a can, nope, I'll skip a meal rather than open one of those ever again.
legend09
Ok - I cannot stand the chicken noodle soup - could not even finish today. What were those pieces? Definately not chicken!
