Hi there tlcd,
Welcome to Jenny Craig. Are you doing Jenny direct or do you go to a center? I go to the Leominster center myself and the program has done wonders for me.

Hi tlcd,
My stats are actually below my signature. I started in January of 2007 and am currently maintaining. I've lost 89 lbs and feel like an entire new person. I still go weigh in at least once a month and buy some of my very favorite products like the penne pasta and the turkey burgers.

Hi,
I live in worcester MA and do the jenny direct program. I have been on it since december but have hit a bit of a plateau and been trying to break it for a month now. I decided to check out the forums for some support because I am getting very frustrated with the scale. Any advice or similar experiences?
thanks

kwnoel,
It took me almost 2 years to lose all my weight and I went through many many plateaus during that time. Some were because I took a break or just wasn't working as hard as other times. But some happened when I was working very hard and the scale just wouldn't budge. The best advise is just hang in there and eventually it will start moving again. Some things I've found that helped me break a plateau are the following:
Vary your fruits and veggies. I've noticed that if I change the types of fruits and veggies I eat it helps mix things up.
Vary your exercise routine. If possible try a walk/jog combination. I always have great results when I walk a quarter mile then jog a quarter mile on my treadmill. It really gets my heartrate up. Or if you aren't up for jogging yet try using an incline.
Eat several small meals a day. I eat my Anytime bar with a cup of tea on on my way to work for breakfast. Then I have some fruit and yogurt mid morning. At around 11:30-12 I have a salad or cut up raw veggies and then my JC lunch around 1:30-2.
Judytoo,
Welcome onboard. It's a great way to get info and connect with folks who are going through the same things you are.

Hi,
I'm on week 2 and this is my 3rd go around with Jenny. I had a baby 2 years ago and now with work and baby and home, I have let exercise lapse. I am hoping to lose 20lbs. Week 1 was 4 pounds lost and now I'm in week 2.
I am starving all the time (which makes me realize how large my tummy got since my last diet) and I understand I have to get back into it.
I had success with Jenny the first two times so that's why I joined again. I wanted a buddy since I have other stressors around me that make me feel that I may sabotage myself.
I'm in Arlington!
Thanks all!

I live in Brockton/Abington and am also looking for a buddy. I was on Jenny in 2001 and lost 80 pounds. I kept it all of until 2004 when I gained 50 lbs with my first child and another 25 with my second, so I decided I HAD TO RETURN!!!! I've only been back 3 1/2 weeks and have lost 10 pounds.

Wow! How do you work out 8-10 times/week?
All I am fitting in is walking right now (but Arlington has some steep hills).
Week 2 has been much easier for my hunger (although I have sneaked in some other snacks) but I find that the veggies are good and I am in love with eating spinach and asparagus, which I thought would be hard to take.
While I don't think I'll lose as much in week 2, I feel better and know I can do it.
This Saturday will be a night out on my own. Hope I can accommodate it!
I hope all of you continue to write because you all do motivate me!
Have a great weekend!

I also live North of Boston and go to the Burlington center. I have 15 pounds total to lose, and only lost 1.2 the first week. I know because I don't have much to lose it won't come off that fast, but I feel like it'll take forever at this rate!

I posted a thread that didn't get any response, but maybe this thread will have better luck.
I'm in Cambridge and looking for a support buddy, and maybe even someone to walk or exercise with on occasion.
Tracy23 -- Arlington is very close, so if you might be up for a walk, it would be great!
I've been on and off program for years, but had a turning point mentally this past June, and lost 25 pounds when I had to take a break for two months for personal life transitions. In that two months I gained 7.5 pounds back, and re-started at the end of February. As of today's weigh in, I'm back to my December weight, and hope to break into the 160's very soon -- maybe next week?!
Hope everyone has a great week.

Hello, I am from Attleboro MA. This is my first day on Jenny. So far i have had breakfast and lunch with a snack. I am feeling ok. i don't think I could ever work out 8 to 10 times a week though. I wish I knew the secret to losing 20 pounds in 8 weeks. I am still in shock at doing it. Today I hit 25 pounds in 12 weeks. I have been lucky to have weeks where I lost 2-3 pounds. I have done this program 2 other times; the first time I lost the weight but did not maintain. The second time, I was just not into it and stopped. This time I am in it for the long haul. My drive is much stronger.
I have not started exercising yet so I know it will catch up with me eventually. I joined a health club that is opening in May so that will change soon. I find that my consultant is a real motivator. She is going through the program too so we share a lot. Also, a client that comes in after me, seems to rely on me for motivation so I cannot let her down. If I lose, it pushed her to lose. We are a good check on each other.
I need to take one week at a time and not think about the bigger goal. I aim for 5 pounds at a time which helps to keep me going.
We all can do it!!
Rory

Hi Rory,
This is my 3rd time on Jenny as well and like you - I feel much more motivated. I have "cheated" however and look to these boards for help & an ear to lean on.
I've managed to exercise a lot this week but know that this diet doesn't work if you don't work out. I fear once my life changes again, I may not have time for as much exercise but I don't want to regain - any tips out there?
My goal is to reach about 135-140 pounds. I'm 5'4" and now just about 152. This is a stretch goal and I'll probably be just as happy at 140-145.
Would love to see this board more active and read about everyone else's goals and good and bad days!
Thanks!

I'm also in the Littleton, MA area, should anyone want to walk/work out together? I work quite a bit, but this program has really helped me "stay on the wagon." I'm a new believer in the JC program. First time doing it and a good 50lbs to lose, so keeping on track will be super important for me.

Hello Everyone,
I am in my 3rd week of JC...and have lost 5.2 lbs in my first weigh in, and gained an .8 th of a pound (that time of the month, ugh!) on my second weigh in. I plan to lose 100 lbs and live in the northeast area. I am looking for and would love a support buddy through this process, and I could even meet for coffee!
I have been overweight for years, after the birth of my 2nd child I never lost the weight, and now I am determined to stop hiding behind excuses and GET OUT THERE AND JUST DO IT! Well, that and plus I love the Jenny food. I go to a center once a week, and am learning as I go along.
I do love to walk and would love to connect with others on this journey! Oh, and I go to the Nashua, NH center!
Hoping to hear from lots of people!

Hello Eveyone!
I am a member of JC at the Leominster center. I have been going since December of 2008. I have lost a total of 35+ pounds...however I was at a loss of 38.3 three weeks ago. I am an emotional eater...what ever the emotion; I want to EAT!! Happy, sad, mad, or glad

!! I am finally back on track as of today...well at least I hope I am. Getting back on track seems to be the most difficult part.
My goal is to lose 100 pounds and it seems so far away. I know I can do it I just need to will power to get there. I have done many different programs in the past and they work for a while, and then I stop and the weight comes right back on plus more...ugh....
I have two little ones at home and find it difficult to exersice as much as I would like. I also lack the motivation to get on my machine...Does anyone have any tips for getting motivated and staying motivated to exersice? It is almost as if I need someone here to check in with me and ask me "Did you do your exersices today?" I feel more compelled to do it if I know someone is going to make sure I did actually do it!
Thanks for any support or tips anyone out there may have for me.....

I really need to boost up my exersice level. I play with my two small children but I really need to get my motivation up to get back on my elliptical machine

Hi Brenda and Journey,
It's so great to see some folks from my area. I also am from Shirley and go to the Leominster center. I used to check in on the forums often but work has been crazy for the last couple months and I've been working long hours and then I don't even want to look at a computer when I finally get home. You are both doing fantastic. Keep up the good work!
Journey,
By any chance do you go to the center on Wednesday evenings? From one of your posts it sounds like that might be the day you go and I was there last night and there was a gal there with 2 little ones. A little boy in a carriage and an adorable little girl that kept smiling at me. That would be too funny if it was you. I usually go on Wednesday night but only once a month because I'm on maintenance now. My consultant is Cindy.

I live in Ma and go to the Leominster Center. I need a buddy. I am on week three, and the first two weeks I lost three pounds. The third week, now, nothing. I am doing nothing different than the last two weeks where I lost weight. Is this normal? I have high blood pressure and not exercising yet. Counselor said to wait until I lose more weight. Feels a bit frustrating.

I live in MA too and go to the Norwood center. It is really frustrating when you work hard at losing weight and then you get on the scale and you see no loss. Sometimes you are losing inches off your body and you might not see it on the scale yet. Or it might have been that time of the month or you might have been retaining water.
Congrats on the 3lbs loss. I know you can lose weight even if you do not work out. There have been weeks where I have not worked out and I have still lost weight.
I would be your buddy if you want. It is nice to have that extra support.

I too live in MA, and I go to the Nashua, NH center. I had my wi today, my 7th week and lost .5 of a lb. Yep, it's frustrating, but I am going to focus on the week ahead and keep working at it.
Rachel, yes, it is frustrating when you get on the scale and the numbers haven't moved. Don't you hate that!?! Anyway, I think of it as I didn't gain all this weight overnight, so I won't lose it overnite either. How much weight do you want to lose? I need to lose 100 lbs, and have already lost 16 lbs and 11 inches.
I hope you are doing well and I wish you lots of luck. You should go on the JC chat room if possible, there are lots of nice folks there with tips to share, and just talk to others in the same boat- helps me alot! I am on alot!

Thanks for the reply Rachel.
I feel kind of down, after getting off to a good start the first two weeks. I feel hungry quite a bit, but slowly learning a new way of eating. I have a wicked sweet tooth and one of my weak points, but the snack at night is training me to stop at ONE bar!
The extra support would be greatly appreciated. How does this work? As I am new, can you have several buddies? Right now I know I need a support system with people that understand. We are all going through the same thing. No matter how many pounds you need to lose.
Hi Justdance,

Of course you can have several buddies. That is what this forum is all about.
You will find there are lots of people out here who are on here who will offer their support.
If you want I can give you my email and we can chat more.
I have a BIG sweet tooth too. I find I need to have the sweet desserts at night like the bars, cakes and cheesecakes or I don't feel satisfied. Also if I feel I need an extra snack I have a SF jello with some FF whipped cream. It usually cuts the cravings down.
The worst part is I am most hungry after work and at night.
It is hard to get used to a new way of eating. But in time we will get used to the smaller portions and I like getting to eat every 2-3 hours. It took awhile to get used to eating veggies all the time. I like fruit, but I was never a big veggie person.
We ARE going through the same thing and need all the support we can get! Lets do it together.

HI All
This is my 7th week and am down 10 lbs. I am from West Newbury and go to the Salem NH center. The last few wks I have lost a bit of motivation. I do find that if you work out and do the plan it works. I am not losing slower and it is a bit frustrating but am in it for the long haul as well. Last week I lost .5 lbs and I was still happy that I lost but my counselor made me feel terrible that I did not lose more. I know I am working the program and as long as I don't gain I am happy that I am moving forward. Have 11 lbs to goal.

Hi Rachel,
Thanks for replying. I laughed when I read about your hardest time being after work and night time. That is me too. I can do fine all day until that point, and that is when I am really tested. Relaxing at night and wanting to eat.
Yes, I have a wicked sweet tooth and part of my problem. I am afraid to buy ice cream, before I joined Jenny Craig, as I know I can eat one of those in one or two sittings. I try to avoid it and do avoid it now.
The snacks are the saving grace for me. I need something. I am doing my best now , trying to stick to the program. I am on the 1200 calorie menu. One day at a time is all I can do. I don't mind the fruit and veggies and salads. Some of the JC meals are quite good and others I have not liked and won't get again.
How have you found the frozen meals? The cereals, and bars , most of the breakfast menu I could buy on my own and not spend so much money on the JC food. I find it expensive, considering I spent less before and was eating more.
Hope to hear from you again soon,
Kandee <SN>

Eileen,
Wow,
11 pounds to goal. What an achievement! It is too bad your counselor didn't give you more motivation.

Any loss is a good loss. .5 lbs is nothing to laugh about. Some weeks you may lose more then others. Especially since you are so close to goal you are going to lose slower then others who have more to lose. At least you know if you stick to the plan it does work. Keep it up.

I am on the 1200 calorie level too. I like the frozen meals much better then the shelf stable ones, and I definitely have my favorites. True you could buy many of the breakfast items on your own and then maybe have the splurge of the pancakes on Saturday or something. It is something you could work out with your JC counselor.
It is true considering you can buy a box of cereal for a lot less then what they charge for one little bag for one or two days.
My email is rachelwhite31@yahoo.co.
hope to hear from you

Thanks for the encouragement. Ialso want to figure out how to cut costs abit. It is adding up wkly. The frozen food is much better but some is very expensive. I think it's all about portion control.
have a good day tomorrow everyone

Hi Gals,
It's great to see so much activity on a MA thread finally! Keep up the fight it's so worth it. I know some days are so much harder then others. I've found that journaling and setting a small weekly goal really helps me stay focused and on track. Sometimes my goal is to do strength training twice during the week, or get outside and try a new activity at least once. Even after almost a year of maintaining some days are harder than others but the benefits far outweigh the cravings. Sometimes I'll write in my journal something I don't miss at all like heartburn, being tired, or not fitting in small seats. It helps me remember why I've made the change in my life.
I stopped buying the JC breakfasts pretty soon after starting the program to save money. I love the peanut butter Anytime bars and I usually have one of those on my commute to work with a cup of tea. Then mid morning I have some fresh fruit mixed with yogurt. That way I'm getting my calcium and fruit and spreading my food out which has always helped me. My favorites are strawberries, blueberries or cantalope and I use the YO+ vanilla yogurt.
Also, if you like the JC cinammon twists they sell them at Market Basket for a lot less money. Same manufacturer, calories etc. I buy a bag of those once in awhile when I want something sweet and I bag them up right away 4 to a bag (120 calories). At my Market Basket they are above the frozen food case near produce with some other sugar free products.

Hi Rachel,
I went away to the beach for vacation and I will be emailing you. I know with the holiday on Saturday you may be busy too. I will be in touch and thanks for leaving your email. The beach was awesome. Had a great time.
