Does anyone have a BodyBugg? They are the armbands that all the contestants on the Biggest Loser wear. I'm trying to find out if they are worth the money or not to buy. Between the cost and the the subscription they definitely aren't cheap.

Thanks for any info people have on them

HI Beth:

I bought one a few years back so maybe the models are different. However, in my experience this product is not worthwhile. In fact I found it to be very discouraging. Things I did not like:

1) I do not think it accurately measured the calories I burn in a day. This value was computed on many values including body fat analysis that I had done at my local gym. My reason for thinking this was not accurate was based on the fact that I could loose 1.5 pounds each week more than the bodybugg would have predicted. I entered food quantities accurately and I don't think it was any discrepancy on my part.

2) The arm band itched and felt uncomfortable.

3) For me this product was the exact opposite of a motivating factor. It made me feel like I wasn't doing enough and also it made me feel like it was hard to set reasonable goals based on how the Bodybugg assumed I burned calories.

4) You have to pay for bodybugg and an online subcription. At the time this product was not mac compatible. Maybe this has changed. Not sure.

If I were considering this product I would use a nice heart monitor watch and pedometer instead. For me, the utility of this product was extremely low.

Here's a link to a fairly lengthy discussion on the bodybugg... Bodybugg

If you go to "Search" and type in "bodybugg", you'll find some other mentions of it on the boards.

It is a pricey tool, so it's good to know what it will do and won't do.

Hope this helps! let us know what you decide. I'm sure there are lots of folks curious about it.

(PS to Beth -- the doggie in your avatar is the cutest!!! Thanks for sharing his/her smiling face.)

There are definitely several different views of the product.... The price scares me lol

Aww thanks. Thats my doggie Simon. He was 2 on Halloween. He was sick this week and had to go to the vet. He's doing much better. But I came across his picture on my computer and thought it was a great addition to my profile. I get to go home to that smiling face every night. He can't wait for spring when we get to go for our long walks outside. He's definitely my little Momma's boy smile.gif

Thanks again for the info from both of you.

Funny... I just got an advertised email about the new BodyBugg. How random since I just posted about this today. The new BodyBugg is mac compatible according to my email and apparently 24hour fitness clients receive extra discounts.
