My daughter, who is 18, has struggled with weight her entire life. I remember once when she was 4 years old, I was getting ready to cook dinner and I noticed that a stick of butter was missing. I decided that I must have been mistaken and not really had any butter. Later that evening, I was putting clothes away in her closet and I noticed that stick of butter, half eaten, sitting on the lower closet shelf.
She has always been such a wonderful young lady. She is pretty and popular and absolutely loves to eat. She watched the Oprah show the other day with the encounter with the young people and she laughed. She said, "Not everyone who is fat has psychological problems mom. I just get a great deal of pleasure from eating."
That being said, I have been concerned. After all, she is my daughter and will be heading off to college in the fall. Not everyone will be kind, plus I know that her health is at risk. So, I gently broached the subject of weight loss and Jenny Craig. She had tried Weight Watchers in the past, but it involved too much "thinking" too much cooking and too much time. She researched Jenny on line and decided that it would be an adventure.
Our visit with the sales staff was a lot of fun. We both spoke with the Jenny rep and he helped her to customize her own meal plan. He set up her first consultation and told her that her food would arrive on Friday.
When the food got here, it was like Christmas. She cleared off a shelf for those products and laid claim to a shelf in the deep freeze. Her food is off limits to everyone.
Her consultant called yesterday and it was a great consultation. I spoke briefly with both my daughter and the consultant on the line so that I could understand the program. I want to be able to help her be successful. When my daughter got off the phone some time later she looked at me and said, "Mom, I think this is going to be one of the best things that I have ever done for myself." Since she has a job after school, she has even offered to help offset some of the cost of her program so that it can truly be hers.
Tomorrow she begins the adventure. Her consultant told her that some of the food she would love and some she might not care for so she is prepared for that. She is excited and ready to see some success.
I have found the entire Jenny Direct to be a great experience.
