KKd1,
WELCOME BACK! We already have a few things in common. I was a member of Jenny Craig a few years back. I quit and have just returned in December and I'm on my way. I am also 60 and will be 61 this summer. I have to say I would never want to do anything about my age. This is the BEST time of my lif ever - bar none! Think about it. No monthly visits, no pms, kids grown and likely on their own, grandkids to enjoy and send back home, and the list goes on.
What we do with our health and weight has much to do with how much we get to enjoy this wonderful time of life.
You will get a lot of support from the people here as well as those at your center if you belong through a center. I have been enjoying the food. Who wouldn't enjoy cheese and chocolate? Yep it's all Jenny food. And I have been making walking a daily habit. It took time to get going and get moving, and more time to build strength and stamina. Can you believe that at 60 I have even signed up to do a 60 mile 3 day walk for breast cancer cure? It isn't until October but I sill be a lot lighter by then. Anything is possible if we have the tenacity to begin and stay with it.
I wish you all the best. Enjoy this fabulous age we are in and all the great Jenny food. Have fun with it. It truly can be the best time of your life.

I have just returned, too, after almost a year of health challenges. I have gained again + and am so glad my consultant is my age (65) and understands. May I join your group for support? I started this morning with the maple nut cereal and loved it with plain, nonfat yogurt and blackberries. Creamy and yummy!
I agree that I want to be the best I can be in order to enjoy the years I still have. I had polio as a child and have some problems and use a walker to keep from the bad falls I was taking. Also looking forward to joining an arthritis swim class next week, held in a warm pool at the YMCA. I live in Auburn, Washington==South King County, south of Seattle, almost to Tacoma.
I look forward to "talking" with and getting to know you.

I just set up a weight tracker like you have, what fun. Now, how do I get it to copy into this message board?

Hello - this is my first post, so hope I'm doing this right! Is there room for a returning member - 60 yr old Canadian gal from Alberta in your group?
This morning began checking out the forums cause I know I need to return to JC after having good success several years ago. Kept the weight off for a couple of years, but then due to health & limited mobility issues, have now gained it all back. Was excited to come upon this "over 60s group and particularily the post from NanakateWest.
Gosh sounds like we could be kindred spirits or at least have quite a bit in common. I too had polio as a child, and now struggle with mobility, fatigue, and falls. In the last 1 1/2 years, I've had to quit full time work and go on longterm disability and struggle to face the reality of my limitations.
Since Christmas, have been very down on myself, cause I need to lose about 35 lbs; and just seem to keep eating (you know, must clean up the Xmas baking etc!). Part of my problem is I'm too short for my weight!! (ha....oh to be taller) and the fact that in the last year it has become quite a challenge to get in any exercise.
Now all I need to do is get off my butt and over my embarassment of regaining the weight and "Call Jenny" before the end of the week. Hoping to hear from you folks on points getting back the JC momentum.

Wow! Look at you all!!! This is great motivation for us old timers on this '60+' board. I love to hear the enthusiasm of your starting.
I've been doing the Jenny Plan for about 10 months. My weight loss is very (extremely) slow. But hubby says, then it will stay off! A few pounds are so easy to put on and so difficult to take off. The nice thing that has happened with my plan is the clothes-size-changes. Going UP in pounds, I was only 2 sizes and when I look at old pictures -- you could not tell anything about clothes sizes... I was just FAT. BUT, losing this 35 pounds, I have gone done 4 sizes! AND everybody notices! You'd think it was a 100 pound drop. Even my pics reflect this. It amazes me!! And I can't figure that out. Perhaps the menu of veggies and fruit. Hope that is an incentive to you. You will look greater going down than the trip up. I've got 50 pound to say good-bye to this year. Since my weight loss is so slow, I give my plan all of 2009 to work.
Some of you seem to have physical limitations. Join the majority of us! I do too. It does make exercise harder! And we have to retrain our living styles.... translated: eating habits. I've learned so much! I continue to marvel at what got me here and what was good about the old days of less food. Over indulgence has been a trained habit in society. Let's get rid of the huge portions and relate to a healthier way of life!
Jo
p.s. BTW, nobody has to be invited to chat! You are part of Jenny! Chat away.

Good Morning Ladies,
It is good to see your posts! I was down in Appleton for a while and away from my computer so I haven't been too active lately with the posts. My granddaughter was in the hospital for a while - she was suicidal and diagnosed as bi-polar. They finally convinced her she needs to be on medication so I am hoping that now she is taking something things will level out with her. She was actually diagnosed 2 years ago but refused to take her meds - long story there!!
I have been on a roller coaster ride with my weight since the Christmas holidays. I'd stay on plan for a couple of days and then I would just totally mess up a day or two. I've been doing better this last week or so and hope that I will be able to stick with this and not mess things up again. I've had a stupid pain in my lower back since christmas and still haven't found out what is causing it! I've had CT scans, MRI's and ultra sounds and nothing has shown up on any of the tests. I am relieved to find that all my organs are fine but it still annoys me that I don't know what is causing it!! It is really getting frustrating.
Well, enough of my complaining!! I am determined to reach my goal this year - however long it takes - and I know I just have to make up my mind that messing up on the diet is not going to make the other problems go away. I have done good this past week and I am sure I will have a loss for my WI tomorrow.
Hope to hear more from all of you - together we can encourage and support each other and make it to our goals.
Kathy

Hi Everyone,
I would like to join you. I'm new at this. Can someone tell me how to post my picture?
I am 63. I started J.C. about 2 weeks ago. No loss yet, but I'm trying. I'd really enjoy the support of forum members in my age group.
Thanks much, glo
