Merry Christmas to everyone.
I am new to this site, and I just re-joined Jenny yesterday after about 5 years. I'm praying it works for me and I can stay committed to it. I have a few health issues that in one way or another put a strain on weight loss and exercise. Chronic asthma and Arthiritis in the knee make it very very difficult to do any meaningful exercise. I know if I can get some lbs off it will really help me but I don't know if the program will really work for me without the moving as well.
Today is my first day and I,m excited . it was my Christmas present to myself
Has anyone got any ideas to fitting movement into my day without making my pain any worse..
Thanks for listening and look forward to coantributing to this site

Hi, I am new to the site also, but rejoined JC just last week after being away for a few months. I gained back the weight I lost, but I am determined this time to make it work. Good luck and don't give up. I bought myself the WII Fit but I am having more fun wih the Sports. If your exercise is limited, the bowling is a lot of fun and I work up a sweat by bending somewhat and throwing my arm.

Good Morning Ladies,
Welcome to the program. I know it works but I have to say that I really blew it the month of December. I just had no willpower at all thru the holidays this year. It was a very stressful month for me between my kids, the step-kids and a couple of the grand-kids. Everything seems to be settling down now and I am ready to focus on myself and what I need for me again so I am hoping to take the weight back off that I gained over the holidays.
I am not able to do a lot of exercise myself because of a bad back and joints. When I talked to my doctor about it she suggested just doing the walking but with the winters here I don't get outside much. I am going to get back on my treadmill again this week. I can only do about 1/2 hour at a time but that is much better than what I was able to do a year ago. The weight I lost so far has been without much exercise other that the normal cleaning and walking doing normal chores. We did plant a garden last summer - the first time in many years - so that helped with the exercise during the summer months. I also go 4-wheeling in the warmer weather, but there is not much to do around here during the winter months.
Good luck to all of us this year and look forward to hearing from everyone!!

Hello EVERYbody!!
Isn't it so funny at this age, we all have nicknames as 'Granny", "Grammi", "Grannie", and I'm "Grammie" most places BUT here... Jomama"d" LOL. I got that nickname because I was like the old lady in the shoe who had so many kids (that thought they lived there), somebody played on my name Jo to Jomama.
Yes, exercise is hard to figure out. I have physical limitations too. No artificial joints. Mine are just rearranged. (Harleys don't hit trucks very well.) Figuring out "What to do" is a challenge. I also have a Wii and look forward to finding a Wii Fit at Walmart. (This was VERY discouraging this week!!) You can get quite a bit from them! I also do some yoga and have some 'mild' dvd's. One is from the Mayo Clinic. Some are for metabolism, a.m. / p.m. yoga, and FAT free yoga -- all I can do... maybe that could help you too.
Kathy -- I hear you about December... UGH!!!! You and I were neck in neck. I was 206 yesterday. My lowest had been 201. Yeeks! Did I say that!!? I am ssssooooooo ready to lose again (instead of gain). We were away 2 weeks at Thanksgiving. Home for 10 days which included Christmas baking / eating, luncheons, parties, and I gave my hubby a 65th birthday party -- food, food, food! I am a stress eater -- need I say more?! Then I drove from Tennessee to Texas at Christmas for 2 weeks . Hubby flew in Christmas week. And now we are home!!! They say January can bring the 'blahs"... I say bring them on!! I want to be bored again... not really. I just want to be able to focus on me. Ye gads - are we allowed to do that? I want to sew and do some embroidering. And play with my Wii and focus on yoga.. and maybe a little treadmill. I can do the first treadmill program on slowest beginning speed which lasts 20 mins - it builds up your heart rate and brings it down. It gives me about 3/4 mile. Enuf!!
Today, the tree is being taken down and I've cleaned my 2 curio cabinets (full of things I've collected which include teapots) and washed all of my 'extra' dishes that I use when company comes. I'm going to have 2 dinner get togethers soon. One will be for 8 people and the other will be for 6. Gotta have clean dishes. Now if I can figure out the menu.
Everybody's been so quiet!
Jo
p.s. Grammi6 - My Texas cedar tree allergies wree so VERY bad when I was in Texas!! Used to get shots til the day we moved away. Well, this includes asthma and I got 2 asthma attacks when we got back to Tenn. They aren't fun, as you know!
