Hi JJ:
You are doing everything correctly. I'm proud of you. If you plan before you go to your event, and you practice eating correctly at each party, you won't gain weight. When I go to parties, I follow the 1/4 cup, 4 item rule. It's my rule

!! I eat a big salad with JC dressing (I take my JC dressing in my purse), 4oz of meat (the size of my palm just like you do). Then, I look to see what I want from the array of foods being offered and have 2 more portions (1/4 cup of each). It works every time and I keep my calories down. If dessert is something I want, I include that as one of my 4 items. Now sometimes, there is just so much food there, I want to try some of them. Not very often, but it happens. So then instead of feeling deprived, I just have an 1/8 of a cup of each thing instead of a 1/4 of a cup. I kind of think of it as a wine tasting. It works great.
Well, keep in touch. I'll bet you lose the week of Christmas and New Years too.

Hi Ladies,
I agree that the holidays can be a bit of a challenge. i think I am holding my own. tuesday will be my first weigh in but time will tell.
I hostd Thanksgiving at my house this year and weighed in at 185 the following morning and was not happy about it. My desired weight is 130 so I have a ways to go.
I re-joined Jenny after three years off and glad I did. I had already started walking and am up to three to four miles of brisk walking a day. it took two weeks to build back up to that. i bought a weeks worth of Jc food but had four Christmas parties last week so it will be 10 days total from start to first weigh in. My scale weighs under the JC center scale by two to three pounds but figuring that I think I could be down about three pounds since my start which is not bad since having four Christmas parties last week.
At home it is strictly JC food and no cheating. With all the chocolate and cheesy goodies I have no desire to cheet. I prefer a JC browning to a Christmas cookie any day of the week. So no problem staying on the food at home.
On the four party days, I ate JC breakfast and only an anytime bar for lunch so I could add calories at dinner. The breakfasts were all JC high proein egg dishes so it tides me over better.
Dinner for all parties was one glass of red wine only and at two of the four parties I drank only half the glass. No rolls at dinner. I brought fat free salad spritzer in my bag and srayed my salads with that. Then I only ate a meat entree the size of my palm and gave the rest to my hubby and ate all the veggies. For desert, I passed and only had decaf coffee with creamer.
I have one more party next week whioch will be more tricky. I think I will eat my jc dinner before leaving the house because the food is all buffet style finger foods rather than a sit down meal. so veggies, fruit and passing on desert stuff will be in order. New years will be a similar party so the same will apply.
I guess I prefer to stay on and lose during the holidays because joining was a Holiday gift to me from me and the pay off is better health and getting the extra weight off. The good thing is that I do not cook or bake other than tossing a turkey in the oven and cooking veggies. deserts are bought and I prefer the jc deserts over other stuff. I have a love affair with those walnut Brownies. LOL
As for fluctuation in weight a couple of pounds that can be the scale, how much fluid you drank or food you ate that was not eliminated prior to the weigh in and time of day etc: A more accurate scale is on my Holiday list and so I think that will help with the accuracy. but overall even with some fluctuations our scales are headed in the right direction overall then we are winning.
Happy hlidays and best wishes to all.
JJ
