Hi Everyone:

It's December. I did really well during the month of November. Didn't gain any weight. I'm trying to maintain during the holidays. Just maintain, not lose. I've been making cookies and of course I did Thanksgiving Dinner. That's a challenge in itself, but I made it.

As I said previously, I've been trying to maintain this holiday season and I've been weighing every day to make sure I'm not gaining. I noticed that my weight fluctuates about 3-5 pounds every day. Now that's interesting. Most of the time my weight stays at 172, but sometimes it goes up to 175 without changing the amount of calories I'm eating. I'm sure that must be natural because I've heard other people on the message boards talking about it. In about May or so, I will reduce my calories to 1500 again (I'm eating 1700 right now) and get the remaining 7 pounds off, but in the mean time I'm practicing for maintenance. I think 1700 may be my set point for this weight, if that makes sense to anyone. I'm not exercising as much and eating the 1700 with no gain or loss. So I'm thinking that's where my body wants to be to stay at this weight. So, I'm thinking I might have to eat a little bit less and exercise more to stay at my desired weight of 165.

I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday and I'll see you after the new year for sure if now before.

Hello! Anybody out there? ................... just checking on you all. it seems like we have all gone inctive. OK by me... the holidays are enuf to keep up with. And I think you all said you were going to get involved with some of the active holiday support groups.

Well, Fridays always seem to be a better weigh-in day for me than Tuesday's with my consultant. Tuesday, I am UP. Fridays, I'm decent. Friday's are my girlfriend in Austin weighs at her Jenny Center. So, I do this rwice a week. I am almost back tp pre-Thansgiving trip and Disney. Was 205 this morning. Got one more pound to go before I can forget the last 3 weeks happened. Hubby is very supportive... says I should not worry about it.

Ok, can we share ideas for New Years resolutions? Like exercise promises / commitments? I'd like to hear your ideas.... I'm thinking #1 playing with my Wii at least 30 minutes 5 times per week (boxing and tennis are great shakers and movers). #2 Walking on the treadmill for 20 minutes 5 days a week ... pre-programmed 'walk' for about 3/4 mile. Goes slow to fast for heart rate and back to slow. Haha! I don't want to stress myself out. But really that's about all that I can do with my legs. #3 And doing some of my yoga tapes... got them for metabolism, reducing, mornings, evenings, and normal. Those were my goals for 2008... although I didn't faithfully keep them.... hope the winter months give me more time.

Kathy, you do good! Thanks for your info. It helps. My weight always goes over a 3 - 5 lb range with one meal! I'm on the 1200 calory plan... but actually do a teaspoon of sugar in my morning tea and I don't eat fat-free cheeses and sour creams, etc. But that cannot possible put it up to 1500. Although I count it as 1500 per day following their 1200 plan. Get all that?!

I'm having trouble keeping my ands out of the cookie jar. Christmas cookies taste great! But they will be all gone come Sunday nite. We are having a get together for my hubby's 65th birthday. All left overs will be sent home with others. We had planned on going to Texas for Christmas but it doesn't look like that will happen. Phooey!

Merry Christmas Everyone!!!

Hi Ladies,

I agree that the holidays can be a bit of a challenge. i think I am holding my own. tuesday will be my first weigh in but time will tell.

I hostd Thanksgiving at my house this year and weighed in at 185 the following morning and was not happy about it. My desired weight is 130 so I have a ways to go.

I re-joined Jenny after three years off and glad I did. I had already started walking and am up to three to four miles of brisk walking a day. it took two weeks to build back up to that. i bought a weeks worth of Jc food but had four Christmas parties last week so it will be 10 days total from start to first weigh in. My scale weighs under the JC center scale by two to three pounds but figuring that I think I could be down about three pounds since my start which is not bad since having four Christmas parties last week.

At home it is strictly JC food and no cheating. With all the chocolate and cheesy goodies I have no desire to cheet. I prefer a JC browning to a Christmas cookie any day of the week. So no problem staying on the food at home.

On the four party days, I ate JC breakfast and only an anytime bar for lunch so I could add calories at dinner. The breakfasts were all JC high proein egg dishes so it tides me over better.

Dinner for all parties was one glass of red wine only and at two of the four parties I drank only half the glass. No rolls at dinner. I brought fat free salad spritzer in my bag and srayed my salads with that. Then I only ate a meat entree the size of my palm and gave the rest to my hubby and ate all the veggies. For desert, I passed and only had decaf coffee with creamer.

I have one more party next week whioch will be more tricky. I think I will eat my jc dinner before leaving the house because the food is all buffet style finger foods rather than a sit down meal. so veggies, fruit and passing on desert stuff will be in order. New years will be a similar party so the same will apply.

I guess I prefer to stay on and lose during the holidays because joining was a Holiday gift to me from me and the pay off is better health and getting the extra weight off. The good thing is that I do not cook or bake other than tossing a turkey in the oven and cooking veggies. deserts are bought and I prefer the jc deserts over other stuff. I have a love affair with those walnut Brownies. LOL

As for fluctuation in weight a couple of pounds that can be the scale, how much fluid you drank or food you ate that was not eliminated prior to the weigh in and time of day etc: A more accurate scale is on my Holiday list and so I think that will help with the accuracy. but overall even with some fluctuations our scales are headed in the right direction overall then we are winning.

Happy hlidays and best wishes to all.

Hi JJ:

You are doing everything correctly. I'm proud of you. If you plan before you go to your event, and you practice eating correctly at each party, you won't gain weight. When I go to parties, I follow the 1/4 cup, 4 item rule. It's my rule rolleyes.gif !! I eat a big salad with JC dressing (I take my JC dressing in my purse), 4oz of meat (the size of my palm just like you do). Then, I look to see what I want from the array of foods being offered and have 2 more portions (1/4 cup of each). It works every time and I keep my calories down. If dessert is something I want, I include that as one of my 4 items. Now sometimes, there is just so much food there, I want to try some of them. Not very often, but it happens. So then instead of feeling deprived, I just have an 1/8 of a cup of each thing instead of a 1/4 of a cup. I kind of think of it as a wine tasting. It works great.

Well, keep in touch. I'll bet you lose the week of Christmas and New Years too.

MERRY CHRISTMAS !!!!

Well, from the week before T-day til now my life has been hectic. Florida (the binge-eating cousin's house and DisneyWorld), back to TENN, and then last Wed. I decided I'm going to Texas to be with our Grands for Christmas. So, the next day (Thursday) 'the kids' (our 2 cockapoo's), and the gifts and I got in the car and drove 17 hours to Austin. The gas actually cost less than teh shipping charges for those gifts. Hubby has a part time job (20 - 24 hours a week)at Radio Shack (Christmas season is busy).. and I thought they'd let him fly up here.... .duh! NOT. So, our son called his boss and said they were planning a surprise for him to fly down here and here he is!!!! Boy, was I surprised!!! biggrin.gif I ordered my Jenny food 2 days before leaving TN., and it got there yesterday.... guess what?!! the order that I placed after getting here got here the same day. Odd. But, I'm staying with Jenny and as usual, I'm exactly just a few lbs from EVERY holiday goal that I've had. At 203 yesterday. About 2-3 lbs of that is puffy water retention and the 'c' word (constip**^@*). UGH!!! Goal was 195. Over all, all is going ok.

My girlfriend here in Austin has been doing Jenny the same time as me. She's lost 54 lbs. Is 'almost' the same weight as me now but is 3" shorter. So, could not wait to see her... I was all googly over her new look... but, boohoo, she did not get that enthusiasm seeing me. At least I didn't think so.... could be my imaginaton. I'm a lot thinner losing this weight than going UP in weight! We were looking at videos from previous Christmases today. I looked a lot bigger in them than I am now!! That's what I've been saying and thats what the videos proved. I was a 20 at this weight... forever!! And I am down to a 16 now. BUT still have 50 lbs to be at the top of a normal BMI and just to feel good. That is not a skinny weight. Just a desirable and keepable weight. I hope!!!

Betty Jo, that sounds like a fabulous plan. "The 1 Cup Rule". I will always keep that as my guide!! You will be known forever for your plan. Thanks a ka-zillion! BTW, congrats on your success!!!! WoW!!! Thats where I should be.... and wasted much time.....

JJ, welcome!! Sounds like you are starting with good ideas. You are doing great with your walking! rolleyes.gif Envy...

OK, you all are wished many great and happy blessings through this Christmas!!

Talk to you after the presents are opened.

Hi Jo:

On that "Rule". It's the "1/4 cup rule", not the 1 cup rule. If you were to eat 1 cup of each, you would blow up like a balloon girl. So here's the rule again:

Eat 4 ounces of meat, a big salad with Jenny Dressing, and two "1/4" cup portions of two other side dishes at the table. You will average about 400-600 calories on your plate. Works every time and I always feel satisfied because I got to eat a little of everything I wanted even dessert, if I want it with NO GUILT.

Have a great New Year. If you go to any parties, try this method and let me know how you felt about it.

Hi Everyone,
Just thought I would check in, although I haven't been doing the greatest as far as the diet goes. I've been totally off Jenny food for the past two weeks. With all the traveling and eating out I've been totally off program. I haven't weighed in the last two weeks but will be getting back to program for the New Year!!! I have also been dealing with a lot of stress between hubby, all the kids and the grandkids. Seems like this year anything that could go wrong has gone wrong, but I won't get in to all of that. Drove back from Appleton area yesterday where we picked up my grandson and the roads were terrible - took us almost 8 hours to drive a trip that should have taken only about 6 hours. Then to top it off, I had to grocery shopping after we got home to get what I needed to make Christmas dinner for the company that is coming today. Say 3 cars in the ditches because of the icy roads!!
Sounds like you guys are really doing well thru the Holidays - wish I could say the same. I just don't have the will-power this year that I had last year!!

Wishing you all Happy Holidays and will check in again in the new year if not before.

Kathy - you'll do good just as soon as the holidays get past us! I know you will. I'm in Texas right now and have really been blowing it too. But the weirdest thing: my son's scales said I've lost 3 lbs. And the Wii Fit agrees @ 201#. I cant wait to see what mine say at home. Cannot figure out why I'd be losing!! My friend who has been doing Jenny since April has added almost 4 lbs over the holidays too. FIRST time she has added. I told her 'whoa's her!' and then laughed. I've had so many UP's... to her ONE time UP.

Oh, Betty Jo, I translated 4 things of your 1/4 cup rule to the 1 cup rule. I got what you said. Now, I got to practice it! Today was a total failure..... ugh. But the New Year will be so much better!!!

I found one thing that I have got to add to my Wii... the Wii Fit. Love it! I'm just going to have to buckle under too and use it. Has anybody else got to play the Wii Fit???? Love it!

Good Morning all,
Well, I decided to get back on program this morning!! I was going to wait till the New Year but after weighing this morning and seeing that I put 10# back on I decided not to wait any longer!!! I feel miserable and I can tell the way my clothes fit that I had gained so it is definitely time to start taking it off again!!!! It wasn't that I ate that much of anything at one time, but I swear that every time I walked past the candy and cookie dishes I grabbed a piece or two!!! Just didn't have the willpower this year that I should have had!!! I'm sure the salty ham we had for supper and snacked on the past couple of days didn't help either. After being used to having no salt that ham really made me thirsty - I don't think I ever drank so much water at one time in my life!!!!

Jo - when we went to my step-daughters for Christmas they had a Wii. I did a game of bowling when I was there and I really like it. Their kids are younger so the games they have are more orientated for the younger kids but I really loved it and am seriously thinking of getting one. There are so many different games and things you can get for it. What are your favorites and what games would you suggest as far as being able to get some exercise and activity from?

Betty Jo - How did you do over the holidays? Did you reach your goal yet? You are so close!!!!!!

JJ - Welcome!!! I did terrible over the holidays but am ready to take the pounds back off again!!! How were your holidays? Hopefully you had much more willpower than I had.

Have a great day everyone! I forgot which day my Jenny girl is supposed to call this week - she is on a 2-week vacation with her family - but when I talk with her I will post my official WI even though I know it won't be very good.

Kathy
