I picked up two containers of it at my center last night, but haven't tried it yet. Yikes! I don't even know if it's a lunch or dinner!!!!!

It's a lunch (thank goodness - I really think they could use more). I had mine yesterday, I really liked it which was a pleasant surprise as I haven't really enjoyed any of the soups. I'll definitely order some extras next time as this is a Temp.

Okay. Just ate mine. BIG thumbs up from me. A nice, hearty meal for a cold winter day. I will definitely be stocking up on these before they're gone. I mean, it's bland. But, you can always season it up, the way you like. This is gonna be an easy one to volumize - I could see adding spinach, green beans, zucchini... Definitely a stew - not a soup.
Anyone else try it yet?

I just had it and loved it! Very filling! And I like the suggestion to volumize, great idea!

I tried it, and thought it was pretty good. I didn't stir it after 1 minute like it said to and it was making some rather alarming noises and jumping around in my mircowave, YIKES!!! Luckily nothing spilled. I'll have to follow the directions more closely next time and see if that solves the problem.
Take care,
Angela

It bounces, but never tips (like the soups). I always loosely wrap a paper towel around the whole thing, to catch splatters, if there are any. And, I definitely think stirring midway through helps to heat it evenly.

I knew this was going to be good before I even opened it. I tend to shake my soups up before I open them. Generally the soups sound really watery, except the potato soup.
This stew is fabulous! Thick, rich, beefy YUMMY!! I am definitely going to stock up on this item!
I am really going to watch my stew next time, mine jumped up and the lid came off and half of it spilled!

YUM! YUM! YUM! I love this stew! I am going to stock up on it. Glad to have something beefy. They should keep this and do away with the Beef and Mashed Potatoes --or is it Mashed Potatoes with (one tiny piece) Beef. It could be a dinner with a big salad and veggies. I find it very filling.

I just bought 10 of them yesterday. One a week, to get me through the coldest Winter months. So good.

I really like this one also and i learned that if you like a temporary meal, you have to buy a bunch of it before it's gone. really like it!!!!!

I think the Beef & Barley Stew is fantastic!!!!! It's so thick and rich and the gravy is just sooooo good! Oh how I wish they would keep this item!!! I'm actually getting ready to have it for lunch in a few minutes and I've been looking forward to it all morning!
I was told to be careful about it tipping over, so I just place it in a bowl and cover it with a paper towel and have no problems.
If you haven't tried it.....you should!

I am having the Beef and Barley Stew for lunch right now and I absolutely love it! Very flavorful. I just sent an email to Jenny Craig asking to make this a permanent item. I think it's the best lunch they offer.

I love the Beef & Barley Stew. It's a great hearty lunch that's perfect for the winter. Since these temporary items never seem to stick around long enough, I'll be stocking up on it when I visit my center this week. I want to be able to enjoy this for the rest of the winter.

Gosh - I hate to be the only odd-ball - maybe I did something wrong? I cooked it in the microwave for the time suggested and I enjoyed all of it except the carrots - they virtually disintigrated when I put them in my mouth. Other than that, the flavor was really good and the texture of everything else was fine.
Think it could have been a fluke?

It's crazy. Every time I've heated this up in the microwave, it pops and explodes and I lose like a 1/4 of an inch of stew. It ends up spilling in the microwave, even if I warm it 30 seconds at a time. Anyone else have trouble???????

Okay. I've had the stew probably 3-4 times. The microwave at work seems to work fine, but it did spill, when I microwaved it at home. So, I suspect it has to do with the wattage of your microwave oven. Try heating it slower, at 75-80% power, rather than on full power. Do 30 second increments, and give it a stir in between.

It is FANTASTIC!!!!! I love it...and I am not a great lover of most of the soups...I have already started to stockpile it ...as it is only temporary. It is a LUNCH, and here in Cananda...hot stew is a godsend.

I had this for the first time the other night---cold. I was so hungry! I haven't been eating a lot of the JC soups since it is still VERY awkward for me to get the plastic lids and pulltabs off the containers. I'm still recuperating from my broken arm and don't have a lot of the fine mobility back.
I found when the soupetizers would 'pop' and I'd have to clean the microwave--I would put the food in a covered/vented container. I think I will do this with the stew once I do warm it up in the microwave. At least the instructions SAY this could happen, unlike the soupetizers.

This happened to me too, so after that first time I always put in a heavy ceramic microwaveable bowl, still pops, but at least it doesn't jump up and spill half of it.
I absolutely love this stew!

well I had this today for lunch ; was in a hurry and didn't listen to my own advice .......... anytime I've had it before? i heat it at 50% power for a bit longer time and have no problems.
Today I didn't and just hit the Quick Minute button. WRONG thing to do LOL
just by good fortune, I had cleaned the glass rotating Tray in the Microwave only this morning because the thing exploded and knocked the plastic lid off and sent the thing over onto it's side and half of it dumped out. Yikes!
I scraped it into my dish from the tray but only because I had just cleaned the thing. So yes!! case proven! It works out fine if you heat it at 50% power for a bit longer time frame.

I had one for lunch yesterday. Was really excited, especially after seeing it had a 5-star rating on the foods page here on jennycraig.com. But it was kinda gross : ( I didn't even finish it. It had a very odd smell that turned me off. Almost an ammonia-type smell. It reminded me of a musty urine smell! (I'm a nurse, so maybe that's why I thought of urine...lol). I wonder if I just got a funky container? I should have checked to make sure the expiration date was still good (I just bought it last week though). No plans to buy this again!

becca.... please don't take offense, but it sounds like you're kinda a picky eater? I just read a comment you wrote earlier (I think it was you) about the s'mores bar - trying it only after the bars you love are unavailable? I just get a sense that you're a little more sensitive to food than most.
This is why I always say, don't listen to what other people think about, or say about food - any food, JC or otherwise. Try it for yourself, and make your own judgment. Get over the fear! You might discover many, many things you actually LIKE, even LOVE!

As much as I love the beef and barley stew, I only get half of it! The other half has exploded all over the microwave. I tried to pour it in a bowl first, but the potatos jump out like popcorn
