Ok so I'm just starting out on JC and I have a confession. I am ADDICTED to salt. I put so much salt on everything and I don't know how to stop. I feel I have to have salt in order to be satisfied. Is there anything I can use instead of it? I've done diets before where I used salt subsitute or morton's lite salt. I honestly put salt on everything! From steaks to pineapple, please help!!!!

I honestly do not know what is ( a ) causing your salt problem, if it's just a habit you can break or something serious, or ( b ) what you can do to stop it.

I am wondering, though, if you are eating a balanced diet. Are you taking a good multivitamin/mineral tablet or capsule? *Some* eating obsessions can be caused by a shortfall of nutrients in the body, but unless you have your blood analyzed by your doctor, you won't really know if that's a problem.

We get our minerals from plant foods, as minerals are in the soil and the plants absorb them. Make sure you are eating a wide variety of veggies -- from the leafy greens like kale and chard, root veggies like turnips and carrots, cruciferous veggies like broccoli and cauliflower, and raw salad greens -- as they vary with the types and concentrations of various minerals. Are you eating any or all of your veggies?

Just thought I'd throw that out there for your consideration. If I were you, I would certainly start with talking about this with your Primary Care Physician. If it's determined to be just a habit, maybe you can gradually reduce the amount that you use day by day.

My father had heart problems for most of my childhood, so salt was not even in our house. To this day there are many foods that I find to be too salty. I never add it to anything. So, now you are probably thinking why am I responding?...

Salt gets added because people want more flavor - maybe you can try experimenting with adding some different herbs and spices instead? Just a thought, and good luck!

I would suggest to go back to getting the product NoSalt, or something similar. And then make a REAL effort to cut back......... but do so gradually? In a short while? your body should adjust and your craving for it should diminish as well. I like the Salty JC snacks more than a lot of the Sweet ones as I'm not a choco-holic person? so when you choose your snacks? pick the ones that are the Salty-type snacks if they appeal to you. That should give you enough to satisfy that need for you.
Best of luck with that. smile.gif
make sure your intake of drinking water is fairly high? This will help to flush out all those Salty Toxins in your body.
